Since winner her fluke maiden slam :oh:, Na has not won anything, let alone did anything notable. What would her ranking be after the French Open?

#15 or #16 if she loses in the early rounds of French Open. :p

She might get back into top 10 later this year as she doesn't have many points to defend after French Open. :p

She makes the QF in every tournament she plays this year and probably for RG too, not bad results actually

Can we stop already with the gloating obituaries of late-career slam-winners? Na might not be a Serena or a Venus, but she was, and still is, a very good player, and she deserved to win RG last year.

She should go pretty deep this week and has a decent chance of reaching the QF or better in Paris, so I think she'll be okay in terms of her ranking, even in the short term. She'll probably drop out of the top 10, but I don't think she'll go much lower than 12 or 13, and I expect her to be back to somewhere around or even above her current position within a month or so after that, because she's defending practically nothing in that period.

Who cares? Na is actually having a good year especially if you discard the AO choke.

She's held her seeding at Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and possibly Rome(with a good chance to go further). After RG, she has literally nothing to defend.

If Na catches form, only 4-5 players can handle her off the ground.

nice to know there's still someone with common sense.

Even though I'll be very surprised if she defends the title, I do expect her to make the QFs and live up to her seeding. I don't feel like estimating the post-RG points but I'm guessing she'll stay at #8 or something. Bartoli is in for a huge drop so Li will be fine.

Na will probably win Rome so I don't think it hurts her much after RG.

Na is unpredictable. Did anyone expect her to win RG this time at last year? Last year, She lost to Petra with a scoreline like 3-6 1-6 and Sam with 6-7 0-6. And look at what she did in RG....

Depending on how she does in Rome, she will be 9th seed in RG. One could say it may depend on the RG draw, but then again, she had one of the most terrible draws ever last year and still did pretty well there. Li is playing relatively solid, she is unable to beat the top players so far, but she was uncharacteristically consistent against lower ranked ones. She can make the QF in RG.

She'd drop to 13th place, but not much lower, mostly because competition in that sector is in a slump or injured or not really expected to do great things in RG, like Petkovic, Lisicki, Zvonareva, Kirilenko etc. pp.

I still remember there was a poll last year on which of the top8 seeds would lose first in RG, and she got the most votes. But then she was the last one standing in the tournament. I like when people counting her out as it is when she usually performs well.

Implying that her RG run was a fluke is ridiculous, given that she made the AO final right before. Nice try but this thread is a fail. :wavey:

It's okay, Ivanovic's run was considered fluke as well, even though she was the finalist in 2007, and the slams including the 2007 and 2008 RG included: F-SF-4R-F-W.

holy words.

"I won 7 matches in a row, beating four top ten players. So you call this luck? If you do, you really don't understand tennis and you really don't understand sport."

I think she'll end up on the fringe of top 10 or just outside. Similarly like Schiavone, the previous RG champ. Oh, the irony:oh::facepalm:

Im not sure about that. Yes, she does some fall. But i wouldnt put her same group as Shavione, Jankovits, Zvorjanova
Actually i think she could be Roland Carros dark horse. Even tough Azarenka, Clisters have beaten him-matches have been very close ones. After RC she has nothing to defend, so i believe that her spot would be certanly inside top 10

To stay in the top10, she _has_ to make the semifinal. If she loses in the QF, like she did all season, she will be guaranteed to be out of the top10.

Huge drop? Do you even realise the gap between #7 and #11? :rolls: She wont be above Marion unless she defends her title. Jesus, simple maths would never go astray.
