View Full Version : serious question! why do u all hate azarenka?

i'm really serious! i don't understand why so many people here are against her.

i mean it was obvious why u didn't like wozniacki, cause of her boring playing style and cause she didn't deserved to be no. 1.

but with azarenka it's complete different. she has an aggressive style, won a slam and many more tournements and at this stage of the season she's definitly a well deserved no. 1. :worship:

of course she's sometimes a bit bitchy and overambitious but serena or sharapova are even more bitchy and have many more fans.

so why all these nasty comments about vika???

It's sport, people have their detractors.

It wouldn't matter if she pissed rainbows and shat gold nuggets out of her arsehole and donated her free time to the poor little starving children of the Kalahari whilst being cannonised at St Pauls in the Vatican.

Of course if she didn't wail like she was jammed in a threesome tearing her a new one, she'd be easier to watch.

Of course if she didn't wail like she was jammed in a threesome tearing her a new one, she'd be easier to watch.

But she did this for so many years... and before she got to no. 1 not many care about this.

btw. sharapova and williams do this too!!!
and seles did as well. and she has much more fans!

can not be the only reason.

Fair question. I guess there's people who will never be satisfied, or able to admit merit of those who are not their favorites, and thus will always find a reason to dislike a player, no matter how stupid that reason may be. That's a consecuence of being successful.

But it could be worse... just imagine if Aga made it to #1... :scared:

1. I've never seen her do anything with a tennis racquet that really impressed me. She never makes me say, "wow, that's an unbelievable shot!" the way Kvitty does with her power or even Radwanska with her craftiness. She's neither a really crafty player nor a really powerful one, which means that her game is that of a grinder. I hate watching grinders.

2. I hate the screaming, though she's not quite as bad as Pova.

3. The finger in the air after her wins is/was absolutely insufferable arrogance.

4. She thinks she's beautiful, despite that wee-yatch nose.

5. Her attitude reeks.

What does anyone see in this bitch? Why would anyone root for her, unless they are just bandwagoners who root for whoever is #1?

I hate the screaming and prefer Kvitova, but I don't hate Azarenka at all, she fully deserves the top spot. Considering she's no. 1, she's not getting all that much hate at the moment. People forget when you have a no. 1, people hate all over.

I used to dislike her 'till the second part of 2010 : my feelings with her completely changed ! ( didn't become a fan of her since her AO 2012 win as some foolishly people here told ) I surely think she's a very cool and very friendly girl without a doubt : I tried to like the girl and also to adapt myself to her game which succeed perfectly although I'll always prefer above all a Martina Hingis type of game but there's nobody anymore on tour having such a game : will never see that anymore as Martina Hingis was unique.

Where I can completely find myself in her : her short temper but she has calmed down the last year.

I watched somehow yesterday night a video of her on youtube where she got beaten at the Orange Bowl ( or something like that ) against Govortsova : she was barely recognizable except her face : her body completely changed and has a very pleasant body and a sexy one, she also is a very good looking girl but with the years It will be even better. Her Grunts ? Well, I remember when I was 10 years old : I fell in love with tennis with a certain grunter : Monica Seles so it doesn't bother me.

The hatred she receives is mostly from the Radwanska fan base and Sharapova one but also from some other fan bases !

Just my two cents.

I hate watching grinders. You could have just described Sanchez-Vicario, Capriati or Clijsters at the same age.

2. I hate the screaming, though she's not quite as bad as Pova. She's not as bad as a lot of players.

3. The finger in the air after her wins is/was absolutely insufferable arrogance.Arrogance can be highly entertaining. Serena and Hingis weren't exactly humble.

4. She thinks she's beautiful, despite that wee-yatch nose.
'She thinks she's beautiful'. You actually have a problem with that!?!? You need help.

5. Her attitude reeks. It's gotten better over the years. SOme people mature slower.

Looking back on this list of complaints, one stands out. YOU don't think she's beautiful, and for that reason, you resent her success. Ah, whatever. You don;t have to like her. As long as you watch, root against her. As long as you watch.

What does anyone see in this bitch? Why would anyone root for her, unless they are just bandwagoners who root for whoever is #1?[/QUOTE]

Because she has a bad attitude probably. I must admit her attitude and "I'm a rebellious 15-year old" way of doing things gets on my nerves. It's not particularly cool, and it's not funny. That being said, I'm actually a fan of her's and have been since Pova was out in 2008. I like the way she plays, although she's not so overwhelmingly aggressive. I sometimes think her brattiness can funny, especially when she booed the crowd at the French.

I didn't find Woz's style boring. It was always fun/funny/hilarious to watch players self destruct againt her. Woz definitely did deserve to be #1 because she had the most points! And, for the most part, was a charming and cheerful #1. Vika has been neither charming nor cheerful.

So, cherboy, you are all for trashing Woz, rather than seeing and admiring her strongpoints, but cannot understand why others would magnify Vika's negatives? It's easy, cherboy, you are a bigot and hypocrite and they generally have problems "understanding".

Pova is not more bitchy than Vika. Not even close. Pova almost always conducts herself professionally, gracefully and elegantly. Vika does not.

Vika models her behavior, undeservedly, after Serenka's and that is why she gets putrifying masses thrown in her face. She evidently likes it because her behavior continues to deteriorate.

However, regardless of the above, I hope Vika takes care of her wrist/arm/shoulder problem even if it means skipping RG. It would be dreadful if she developed a Pova-like problem.

I don't hate her as I don't know her. I just don't watch her play as I don't enjoy the screeching, she is not the only player that I don't watch because of this. There are other players that I prefer to watch as they seem (and once again, don't know them personally) to be more respectful (no grunting) and that I would actually like to win as they seem like nice people. People choose their favourites for many reasons (game style, nationality, personality, appearance etc) and Vika doesn't appear to have many of the attributes that attract fans.

I don't hate her -- she's not interesting enough to inspire such passion.

I just don't find anything redeeming about her -- either her personality or her grinding style of tennis.

She seems to think she's some kind of diva, but that's hard to carry off when you act like a 15-year-old brat on court -- the finger pointing, the overall snotty attitude, the propensity to become Extremely Injured when it's convenient. And can you imagine, say, Chris Evert -- or any other former No. 1 player -- not bothering to remove her earbuds at the coin toss? That just shows a total lack of respect for both her opponent and the umpire. A lack of respect, in general. What a great ambassador for women's tennis.

Oh, and there's that hideous gruesome shriek she makes about a hundred times per match.

Speaking from a neutral perspective it's very easy to see why she'd be disliked. She howls when she hits the ball, she's rude to ballboys, and she's arrogant sometimes. One thing in her favour for me is the way she's handled Radwanska. Owning her on and off the court .

If you are #1, you tend to beat a lot of players. These players have fans, who get upset that their favourites lose to that player all the time. Or in the other case you are #1, without beating anyone and people are pissed that their favourite player can´t do the same. In rarewanska cases you have both problems. :p

Azarenka rarely beats my faves. I've never thought much of her even before her rise to #1.

Her game is pure garbage. The reason I dislike her is because Borz got criticized for weak era, weak era, weak era but all of a sudden when Azarenka gets #1 and is winning the era is no longer weak? I mean she is playing Radwanska in SF after SF and local Sharapova.

Give me a break. She'd never be #1 either in a different era. Nothing impressive about her.

She really worked around her weaknesses throughout the years and it's paying off this season. Plus her BH is a beauty.

I may slam her here and there, but it's mostly because of the beatdowns she gave to Sharapova :oh:

I think she's a great #1 player. Aside from Serena's random resurgences, Azarenka is easily the best #1 player since Justine Henin. Maria's last reign as the #1 player was embarrassing

It's just her on-court demeanour that rubs many people up the wrong way, but today a lot of sports people have this in-your-face attitude

When Mary Pierce started out many fans and PLAYERS alike could not stand her pompish behaviour, but look what happen!? By the end of her career she was one of the most adored players on tour. NOW, I not saying by the end of her career that Viktoria will be as popular, but I think many of the people who now watch tennis will reflect upon her and comment 'Ha! wasn't she a character!?'

But the same goes for Maria. Martha has also added more topspin to her FH and isn't flattening it out most of the time either, well compared to 7 years ago anyway. Their stroke production and technique on the groundies have a lot of similarities.

Yeah Azarenka is a bitch. So what? I'd rather have a in-your-face #1 player who lives up to her ranking than those friendly yet useless ones (like Woz) or those empty, boring shells (like Safina). She's fierce, and to me that's what makes women's tennis so enthralling, especially when compared to men's (which I also love, but let's face it, when it comes to quality... :tape:)

And she's maturing a lot, which is great. I remember (and LOVE) this

No because, 95% of this thread is people stating why they don't like Azarenka, which is understandable, and I only responded to like two posters about their reasons. Basic maths is your friend.

I like her, even though I call her Extremely Injured all the time. I think she has a very specific kind of tennis which I love to see what with the taking the ball earlier than ANYONE on tour.

Maria's last reign as the #1 player was embarrassing

what about Kim? When she decides to play she is quite worthy of a #1

she cooled down , but her tantrums(more than her shrieks) on court are not what I expect of a tennis player . there's improvement I admit, but still don't quite like her mostly because of her attitude at the beginning of her career

maybe she will calm down. Venus was not always as diplomatic as she is now ;)

I remmeber a incident at the AO I think it was 1998 or 1999 where she went off nothing like serena but for Venus standards it was big

Because she eats the scraps off the tournaments that the real top players don't care about (Doha, Beijing, Tokyo). Also she vultures her way through cakewalk draws, of which her Madrid one is the prime example.

Dubai. Azarenka won Doha this year (P5)

I've never really disliked Vika so much as I find her on-court persona to be off-putting. I'm sure she's a great girl off-court but I always find myself turning off her matches. Not just because of her game but also the way she carries herself, especially if she's losing. She does come off cocky, bratty and sometimes arrogant but it's probably due to how young she is - I hope it wears off. That being said I can't knock her for what she's achieved this year.

Oops, my bad. Yeah Azarenka won the higher-tiered one. Vulture got that other MM with Goerges in the final.

The Williams Sisters used to own that event, they won it every time between them from the years 1998-2004, Altho Kim did do the IW and Miami double in 2005, how many times did Graf win it I think was about 5.

So I respectfully disagree with your assertion that nobody cares about it.

its ironic I used to call Hingis vulture when she was on her downward spiral. I.e she would win the events like Doha, Tokyo and SYdney (events that the WS never played at)

Of course since she has retired I kinda respect her more than when she was active

I hate Azarenka because . . .. wait . .hang on . .oh . . . yeah . . I don't hate Azarenka. In fact, I don't get hating/strongly disliking any player for the petty reasons people mention. But hey . . .to each their own. As far as Azarenka goes, sure I'd like it if her grunt was shorter but hey . . big deal.

Yep, no one cares about it. General public has probably already forgotten that ever happened. Plus Radwanska winning it has slandered Miami's reputation of having only Slam champions on their roll of honor.

Not true. Doha, Beijing, Tokyo were attended by all top players except Sharapowa and Williams.
This includes Azarenka, Stosur, Bartoli or Kvitova, why don't you call them "vultures" too ?

There is many Top 20 players who in fact played many more (low profile) tours than Radwanska:
Bartoli (26), Schiavone (23), Ivanovic (22), Zvonareva (22), Jankovic (23). Are they even bigger "vultures" than Radwanska ?

Does Radwanska always look like she's disgusted with something when she's on court? No. So I do not see the point of this particular comeback.

The answer is yes. Bartoli is very much a vulture herself.

And no, those tournaments were irrelevant. No one gives two shits about the Asian swing (Niculescu in the Beijing SFs :help:) and if there's no Williams nor Sharapova, my point has been made :P

1. Because she is #1.
2. Because she is successful.
3. Because she is good looking.
4. Because she makes lots of money.
5. Because she beats other poster's faves.
6. Because she is just a great player.
7. Because her haters are jealous.
8. Because her haters have nothing better to do than hating on her.
9. Because her haters doing the only thing they can really do: Hating.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

1) she was hated long before becoming №1 for her behaviour
2) she is neither more successful than Serena nor Masha
3) she is good looking only in the zoo , standing between cages with orangutans and gorillas
4)even Li Na makes more money
5) her H2H versus top players(slam winners) leaves much to be desired
6) she was especially "great" in the last 2 finals and versus Bartoli and Cibulkova , everyone can lose, but she was outplayed because of her stil really weak and dependent on her opponent's game
7) there are more beautiful, much more popular and with much higher annual earnings girls in wTA to be jealous of
8) at least we are not jerking off to her poster as some of her fans like you
9) Do not overestimate our interest and hatred to this boyish girl, She needs to break a racquet or bump into Pova to attract attention and our hatred to her miserable persona

i'm really serious! i don't understand why so many people here are against her.

i mean it was obvious why u didn't like wozniacki, cause of her boring playing style and cause she didn't deserved to be no. 1.

but with azarenka it's complete different. she has an aggressive style, won a slam and many more tournements and at this stage of the season she's definitly a well deserved no. 1. :worship:

of course she's sometimes a bit bitchy and overambitious but serena or sharapova are even more bitchy and have many more fans.

so why all these nasty comments about vika???

Hate, IMO, is the wrong word to use here..

Dislike, and IMO, I think that most of the dislike, including mine, comes from whaling, shreeking, or whatever you want to call it.

As far her tennis playing is concerned, she has come a long way, and to attest and prove that, her 2012 record is super..

Stop the whaling and she will not only be #1 in the rankings but #1 with the fans...
