Mauresmo obviously. henin didn't have a grass game.

Justine, but only by sliver. Although Mauresmo had the better net game, Henin had a more effective serve and forehand on grass. The 2006 Wimbledon final will always be the biggest regret in Justine's career for me.

Statistics wise, head to head on grass is tied 1-1. Henin had 2 Wimbledon finals, 3 semis, Mauresmo 1 win and 3 semis.

They both had pretty good grass games but Mauresmo has the slightly better grass game in my opinion.

Amelia ekes this out with her net game, especially since she could use the S&V as more than just a change-up.

LOL, not only did Henin never win Wimbledon, but she lost in the final to Mauresmo. Next.

All because Henin had a one-handed backhand, everyone claimed she was a great grass court player. No, she wasn't. And her results compared to Mauresmo show it.

Grass court tennis is much more than a slice and one handed backhands.

Amelia ekes this out with her net game, especially since she could use the S&V as more than just a change-up.

.....This is largely due to her serve, and not her net-game. The slice out wide was very effective on grass.
On the other hand, Justine's sub-50 first serve percentage hurt her more on this surface than anywhere else.

I don't think Amelie's net-game was superior to Justine's. Her transition game was a bit better; Justine's volleys were more effective.
The only thing that kept Justine close in the third set of the Wimbledon final after her serve, return and forehand deserted her was her net game.

They split their grasscourt match-ups (Mauresmo winning on the slower Wimbledon grass and Justine winning on the slicker Eastbourne).
Both matches could have gone either way. Outside the Wimbledon loss, Justine actually had a better grasscourt record. I call this a draw.
That said, peak Justine would blitz peak Amelie on grass; she just couldn't sustain that level for more than a set in either of those matches.

Slowing down the Wimbledon grass helped Amelie more than it helped any other woman.
Allowed her to hit junk with her compromised groundstrokes on the baseline until she could sneak to the net or have her opponent make an error.

Momo.

She defeated Henin in the 2006 final playing great grass-court tennis.

Over all it goes to Henin, Mauresmo is just a bit better in 2006.

The 2006 Wimbledon final really would always determine this one either way. Almost everyone will pick Mauresmo, but if Henin had won that final almost everyone would pick Henin.

Even if that one win wasn't against Justine, I would give Mauresmo the edge based on that alone.

They had only ONE match against each other on the grass!

Somebody here told that Momo is only 2006 player  (cant remember when she firstly was Top-1 )
If you remember Henin was in 3 Grand Slam finals in the 2006. So she was obviously on a run.
And they had that ONE match on grass.

Off the top of my head they played at least 2ce on grass. Wimbledon 06 final and Eastbourne 07 final. Both great matches.

I voted Justine. I know... controversial. I think alot of people are focusing too much on that Wimbledon 2006 final.

Here is something I posted last year from the thread Top 10 grass courters of the Serena generation (http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?p=20603505)

W-L RATIO % GRASS COURT TITLES BEST WIMBLEDON PERFORMANCE

Serena 63-9 87.5% WIMBLEDON 2002, 2003, 2009, 2010 W(4)
Venus 73-13 84.8% WIMBLEDON 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008 W(5)
Maria 65-13 83.3% WIMBLEDON 2004, BIRMINGHAM 2004, 2005 W(1)
Justine 53-11 82.8% EASTBOURNE 2006, 2007, HERTOGENBOSCH 2001, 2010 F
Lindsay 49-12 80.3% WIMBLEDON 1999, EASTBOURNE 2001 W(1)
Kim 47-14 77.0% EASTBOURNE 2005 SF
Martina 26-8 76.4% WIMBLEDON 1997, HERTOGENBOSCH 2000 W(1)
Jennifer 29-10 74.3% NONE SF
Petra 16-6 72.7% WIMBLEDON 2011 W(1)
Amelie 44-19 69.8% WIMBLEDON 2006 W(1)
Vera 31-15 67.3% BIRMINGHAM 2006 F
Elena 43-21 67.1% NONE SF
Marion 45-23 66.1% EASTBOURNE 2011 F

Amelie 44-19 69.8%
Justine 53-11 82.8%

You can easily say Amelie was better because of that year they squared off at Wimbledon, because she won it, but then if you're going by that black -and-white reasoning, why even bother arguing about it? The scoreline for their match was 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. It wasn't like Amelie thrashed Justine. Amelie had the upper hand but it wasn't by much.

Overall Justine actually has a better grass record then Amelie, infact significantly better. Amelie's grass W-L record is 69.8%. That's actually quite bad for a Wimbledon champ. Justine's is 82.8%.

If you strip away the MM tournaments and only Wimbledon W-L then it's much closer

Amelie 35-10 77.7%
Justine 30-8 78.9%

But Justine still wins.

It's not that Amelie winning Wimbledon is an overachievement so much as that Justine's status as a Wimbledon virgin is an underachievement.

About the same to me. Maybe slight edge to Justine, who had worse volleys but better groundstrokes for grass IMO.

Mauresmo Wimbledon title thumps whatever Henin did in her grass court achievements.

The question is not who scored the bigger achievements on grasss but who had the better game.
