Whats hilarious about this is I'm black grew up around other cultures and everyone tells me I act and sound white. And the "black" or "ghetto" as it's called in my family say Serena doesn't have an ounce of black in her. Funny what people consider ghetto. Because I feel like Serena could use a bit of it. Even her outbursts and angry is on a white level. Lmao. Like both US opens. White Girl reaction all damn day. Lmao

This may be true, but what I have always found funny and ironic is that posters on TF (a good amount who are white, if not the majority) take the liberty of using 'ghetto jargon', 'ebonics' and 'ghetto gifs' in any posts related to Serena. I found that these posts always seem inherently racist. Serena may be on a 'white level' so what makes it okay for one to exude racial undertones and 'ghetto-fy' his or her posts when Serena is involved? Serena bandwagoners seem most guilty of this, but it isn't considered mocking because they are supporting Serena? Seems very weird and fishy to me...:tape:

No, this happened during the on court interview, those kind of staff usually stays on GM.

I am sure you have seen threads such as this player did not shake hand, X player was nasty to ball-boy, Y player was nice at the net, etc... and you get the picture.

I remember when she did her victory speech in French at Roland Garros 2002. She said something like "Prochaine année je voudrais à faire encore (sic)" and the crowd paused for like five seconds then awkwardly clapped, because that doesn't really make sense. :spit:

How should she have said it? J'espère gagner ici encore une fois l'année prochaine?

I kind of cringed hearing her speak Italian, but I give her major props for trying, most Americans don't need or even want to learn foreign languages. Go Serena.

Ahhhhhh, the French.

An American or Aussie audience would have appreciated a non-native English speaker who tried to connect with the audience in their language, broken or not, given that she got the general point across.
And that point is.

All posters who saw it live thought it was endearing, also the crowd responded to the confidence and poise with which Serena delivered her response
