I only caught the last two games but Ana played great.
Fended off two BPs with some wonderful out wide serves and then proceeded to break to love to win the match

63% First Serve
29/26 W/UF.

Pretty solid.

Definitely some positives, given the conditions. :yeah:

Sveta wasn't great, but Ana raised her level when she needed to and finished strongly.

Well done Ana :yeah:

That FED CUP match in Moscow is Kuznetsova's best match of the year so far and on other hand Ana now feels clay well (unlike month ago), so no surprise today.

Ana is obviously ready for Paris so I will not blame her if she not take seriously hers next match here.

Ana played well but Sveta just doesn't know how to play her. Loopy halfcourt balls in the middle of the court, keeps getting wrongfooted and just not imposing her game at all. Le sigh. Now Sveta will draw a top 8 seed in R3 of RG and I bought tickets for R4 onwards :crying2:

Please retire Sveta if you don't care to play tennis anymore...what's the point of this misery?

Please, stop with these ridiculous attempts to jinx her. Losing to Brianti or a qualifier would completely destroy her self-confidence before RG. And she finally found some consistence.

Good for Ana. However, I don't believe that Ana has enough grit and physical strength to compete and make it back into the top tier (1-5). Certainly a top 10 player.

Kuznetsova slipping into the Dokic mindset of win a few matches here and there, but no palpable evidence that she sees herself as anywhere the player she used to be.

She looks ridiculously sluggish, can't generate pace on her serve for shit, shot selection as reckless as ever. You really wonder why she's still out there.

Yeah well said. She's the biggest headscratcher for me, because not only is she a headcase like so many of her contemporaries, but she looks dejected and completely miserable out there. She looked like a different player at Fed Cup (at least with her body language), and I was hoping it would jump start her year, but apparently not. It's a bummer really. She has Serena level talent, she just doesn't have it mentally.
