CIA to Participate in USA Science and Engineering Festival

If you’re near Washington, DC on April 28-29, check out the USA Science and Engineering Festival’s Grand Finale Expo. CIA is a proud sponsor of this event that stimulates interest, knowledge, and appreciation of science and engineering among school-aged children.

At the CIA booth in the Expo hall visitors can learn about secret writing materials, hear how satellites get into orbit, and find out about other projects keeping CIA scientists and engineers busy. During Sunday’s “Meet the Scientist/Engineer” program, kids can chat with some of CIA’s most technical minds.

Scientists and engineers at the CIA apply their skills to our nation's most pressing intelligence problems every day. Much of what they do is classified, but their work includes conducting audio and video surveillance; providing secure communications; analyzing data; and designing, building, and operating satellite reconnaissance systems.

The USA Science and Engineering Festival is an example of how the CIA supports education in the physical sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Engaging children in these disciplines today will help the US stay technologically ahead in the future.

Children who are interested in the CIA’s work in science and technology can visit the CIA.gov Kids’ Page.

I always thought that those TV shows that had the CIA tracking promising kids throughout their scholastic life with the aim of recruiting them were fanciful. Guess not
