Hello, I saw the Bencic-Marchetti match today. Bencic is really a strong player in spite of her small size and age.
Marchetti is more than 2 years older but that didn't show on the court.
I have photos of the matches of today and of the previous days also.
Is it possible to post images on this forum?

Well, no negative reply yet, so I assume it's ok :)
Here's a few photos from the Bencic-Marchetti semifinal:

This last photo is a bit blurred, but I post it anyway, because it's an important moment,
it's Belinda Bencic's winning strike on the match point!:

There's been an awful strong wind all the match long, the players really had a hard time playing,
but we've seen some really spectacular shots, although there's never been a balanced match
except for the beginning of second set when Marchetti momentarily led by 1-0 and 2-1

I'm ready for the finals tomorrow! Let's hope it doesn't rain.
In the next days I will post some photos from the previous matches.

Thank you for the pics ;)
I'd suggest you to post Belinda's photos in her thread (player forum > Europe > Swiss Tennis; I don't think Marchetti has one), because these tourneys threads come and go, but the players' subforums are always 'alive'.
Also, if you can tell us more about Belinda's style of playing it would be much appreciated:D

Ok Dan. :)
You ask, how does Belinda play? Well, she's a very fast player, covers the whole court quickly,
she pushes the ball quite strongly for her small body size; however, she's not one of those
"hard hitters", her play is very varied, and she's very good at the net also, although
her volley style is not really academic... instead of playing true volleys (which she almost
never does) she prefers to play what I would describe as forehands and backhands "on the fly",
that is, she does the whole arm movement as she would play a normal forehand or backhand, but she
hits the ball before it hits the ground.
To make these shots, she obviously has to stay more behind the net than the true net players.
And for this reason, opponents with good passing shots can pass her more easily; however, she
advances on the field very judiciously, only when she knows she has good chances to win the point.
And, she's very precise at this type of shots! She rarely misses one.
But the most spectacular shots she makes, are the incredible angles that she can find when playing
from the back line. She picks all the corners and stripes, and leaves the opponent with no chance!
Finally, she's a great fighter. Like all youngsters, she has her ups and downs, but during this week
I never saw her give up easily a shot, or trash a shot.
She's mentally incredibly strong for a 15er.
She will make a great pro career, of this I am sure.
I remember having seen Martina Hingis when she was a 15er, at the Avvenire tournament in Milan.
Martina was more solid player (she almost never made mistakes), but she didn't have the class in the
winner shots that Belinda shows.

Thanks Orio, great report ;)
Maybe you can say something about Belinda's weeknesses? Every player has some :p From what I've seen, her serve really seem to be an issue:unsure:

Sure, the first serve is a bit of problem, because she throws the ball incorrectly in my opinion.
The second serve however is very constant, she rarely makes double faults.
In general, she would need a bit more power to play with the pros. If she doesn't have the perfect time on the ball,
she tends to hit a bit weakly and with a slow curve.
However, she's very strong mentally, although today she has felt a bit the pressure of the final.

Sadly, no more tournaments for me this year. I live in Salsomaggiore, that is why I was able to attend everyday :)

Belinda Bencic has won the final match against Camilla Rosatello!
Final score was 6-2 6-3 (not 100% sure about the 6-3)
I have to say, the final was a bit of a letdown, because Bencic was too strong!!
So not much thrill in the game, it was clear from the start who was going to win ;)

Rosatello was never in the match in the first set, which Bencic won at the fourth set point.
In the second set, Rosatello did play very well in the first half, and Bencic did suffer that,
and lost a bit her ferocious concentration. However, she was still always ahead in the score,
and although Rosatello reached her on 3-3 after Bencic went to 3-1, Bencic did recover the
concentration, also helped by Rosatello who evidently did play above her possibilities in the first
half of second set. Bencic needed anyway four match points before she was able to call it a day.
With this victory, Bencic was awarded with a wild card for a $ 24,000 WTA tournament in Brescia!
I have taken a lot of photos and also some videos, in spite that the final was very short.
This evening I will post a selection of the best, including links to videos, so watch this space! :)

Thanks for the report Orio :yeah: IMO Belinda will surely improve on the power department, she is still only 15 and her body hasn't fully developed so she will certainly get stronger and even taller which will help her improve on power, movement and even on her service. I remember Koehler played against Bencic last year and she said Belinda was technically perfect and really talent but she had the body of a child  I'm actually quite curious to know how much she was grown, but from pictures you can see she is much taller right now. :)

Belinda :hearts: Great week and that makes 2 consecutive titles :yeah: Now win Roland Garros :p
