Whats the point in playing if she is just going to play matches where there is no chance of her advancing???

Go Zuzanna! Win this and be next world no.1 as soon will be Aggie Radwanska!
Maybe she would, except its clay. She couldnt even win a G4 in poland last year (lost quarters), and also not even one match at this years banana bowl. Good player on hard, but not really on anything else. If she didn't have the osaka points, she wouldnt even be top 50!!!

Calling that G4 is bad example from you. She retired on that match in QF. But that's true - she's horrible on clay. Saw her play live on this surface. :p

oh. sorry. but if she hates clay and is bad on it, then why did she go to south america to play on clay??? she has only played 3 hardcourt events, one of which she won.

Entry deadline was Monday, but ITF haven't sorted the list out yet. Looking through the names though, it seems Beck, Kozlova, Gasparyan and Kremen have also decided to use pro rankings to enter.

I don't know. There were a lot of Swedish articles yesterday (like this one (http://tennissverige.se/2012/05/28/skadad-allgurin-missar-paris-trio-klar-for-spel/)) about her missing the French Open because of an injury. But no details of the injury whatsoever...

There are actually rules in juniors guaranteeing players from the same country get evenly spread out in the draw. Notice for example, 4 players from Canada & Belgium and each in a different quarter. Countries that have 2 players are in different halves (Germany, Brazil, Argentina, etc). So it's been done on purpose that 7 USA girls are in seperate 1/8ths :p

You're right! I totally forgot about that! Thanks for reminding me.

Ostapenko couldn't get a SE because she was in the alternate list, not qualifying list. SEs are meant for players in the impossible position of having to play two tournaments on the same day. Ostapenko didn't make the qualifying draw, so she was never playing RG.

I'm glad Ilka, Toni and Genie did well, but that double bagel of Ioana really saddened me:sad:

I think we spoke very few things about Siniakova, despite her Trofeo Bonfiglio victory and her good form. Toni received a lot of hype, but the one who defeated her barely received anything

Some reports from ITF site...

Schmiedlova fully deserved her 76 62 win over former world junior champion Daria Gavrilova, the 13th seed this year, showing her full range of shot-making in an impressive all-round performance.
The 17-year-old has won four ITF Pro Circuit events this year and puts her success down to the effort she made off the court in Australia before the start of the year.
“In the winter I was in Australia and we practised so much,” she said. “We were in some mountains for a week and it was really tough, running all the time. It was so tough. It’s tough to enjoy these things but I know it is important.”
Schmiedlova says Wimbledon will be her last junior event – “I never played on grass before because I forgot to enter in time last year” – but intends to do well both there and in Paris.
“I thought my best surface was hard courts before but now I won four tournaments in a row on clay, so maybe it’s clay again,” she said. “I like long rallies, actually, and I have good legs maybe for clay, so that’s important.”
In the girls’ event, Germany’s Annika Beck and Antonia Lottner both cruised into round three. Second seed Beck beat Victoria Kan of Russia 64 62 while Lottner followed up her day one upset of world junior champion Irina Khromacheva with a 61 62 demolition of Ratnika Batra of India.

Four years ago, Antonia Lottner came to Paris with her family to visit the French Open and watched a young Russian, Irina Khromacheva, strutting her stuff on the clay, vowing one day to be like her and play on the big stage.
On Sunday, Lottner was true to her word but with a twist as the 15-year-old German qualifier opened the junior event at Roland Garros with a massive upset as she knocked out Khromacheva with a stunning performance.
“I was really excited about my match and was looking forward to playing today, but I didn’t expect anything,” Lottner said after her 62 61 triumph. “I was just trying to get into the match, to enjoy it and get experience and then I won. I’m really happy about that.”
At 1.84m, Lottner towers over the 1.70m Khromacheva and the fourth seed was constantly on the run as the German sent her powerful groundstrokes into the corners with nagging accuracy.
Born in Duesseldorf, she trains in Cologne under the guidance of her coach, Robert Olick and arrived in Paris in great form, having won a Grade 1 tournament on clay in April and then qualified for and reached the final of a Grade A event in Milan last week. Her confidence was plain for everyone to see on Court 8 as she romped to victory, setting up a second round clash with Ratnika Batra of India.
“I think I will just go round by round,” Lottner continued. ”I will give my best in my next match. I think I have chances, but we will see.”
Any up and coming German girl is compared to the great Steffi Graf as a matter of course but Lottner described her style as more like that of Maria Sharapova.
“Graf is really famous but maybe she’s not who everyone wants to be because she’s so old,” Lottner said. “But she’s legendary. We know all about her.”
Top seed Taylor Townsend, who won the Australian Open title in January, made a good start with a 75 62 victory over Manon Arcongioli of France.
