Routliffe seems to have improved major time since she's hit the National Training Center! Well done to her! Cascino was a tricky first round

good win for Erin! :D
Come Back tourney for Franckie! Hopefully she's healthy and ready! Technically it's a good tournment to start with and should win it. Let's see how she'll do :D

Don't tell me that you're still expecting something from Estelle ? She's not anymore the french hope she was. She's really far from best TOP 1996 players. Brouleau, Jeanjean, Cascino, Hesse... All are wasted french hopes.

Abanda lost 6-4 6-4 from Kasatkina
Obviously she will need more time to catch up after injury...

Dasha!:) Knew it. Now win your next match and then get this revenge for your loss to Ana.
Frankie will be OK by RG, pretty sure about it.

Does anyone know what the "(16E)" after Konjuh's name on both the drawsheet and entry list means? It was the same thing last week at Florence G2.
Is there some sort of exemption for players under 16? Based on her ranking, Ana shouldn't have been on the MD entry list last week or this week
juki
Apr 10th, 2012, 11:06 PM
The way 16E exempts work are very complicated, but here we go...
Method 1 = Junior Fed Cup
1st place team: #1 player = 1 x GA & 1 x G1, #2 player = 2 x G1, #3 player = 2 x G2
2nd place team: #1 player = 2 x G1, #2 player = 1 x G1 & 1 x G2, #3 player = 1 x G2, 1 x G3
3rd place team: #1 player = 1 x G1 & 1 x G2, #2 player = 2 x G2, #3 player = 2 x G3
For 2011 the Junior Fed Cup results were....
1st Australia: Barty, Woolcock, Rischbeith
2nd Canada: Abanda, Zhao, Routliffe
3rd Czech Republic: Rohanova, Krejcikova, Dvorakova
So pretty much these players don't really need the exempts they have available to them.
Method 2 = Top ranked/selected player in region
Africa - 2 players
Asia - 4 players
Canada - 2 players
Central America & Caribbean - 2 players
Europe - 7 players
Oceania - 2 players
S. America - 3 players
USA - 2 players
1st player = 2 x G1, 2nd player = 1 x G1 & 1 x G2, 3rd player = 2 x G2, Others = 2 X G3
These players are determined by the rankings (or selection committee) of the region (or nation for USA & Canada).
For Tennis Europe, the 2011 year-end top-7 were:
1. Rosca Ioana Loredana ROU,
2. Shymanovich Iryna BLR 16 1040
3 Konjuh Ana CRO 1997 12 1020
4 Ostapenko Jelena LAT 1997 11 990
5 Jablonovska Jana SVK 1996 9 950
6 Dascalu Nicoleta‐Catalina ROU 1995 9 775
7 Nefedova Anastasia RUS 1997 14 735
So Ana was entitled to 2 special exempts into G2 tournaments, which she used the last two weeks.
