View Full Version : Clay :scared:

Mar 30th, 2012, 07:16 PM
Charleston, Stuttgart, Madrid, Rome, Im guessing Strasbourg, then RG, the site of the biggest chunk of points she has to defend this year... Lets hope she can play consistently on it this year!

#4 in the race entering into it, I'm gonna hope for her to still be top 8 by Eastbourne!!

Mar 31st, 2012, 10:17 AM
Hope she will be ready for Charleston. No retirement at this moment.

Mar 31st, 2012, 11:54 AM
Hope she will be ready for Charleston. No retirement at this moment.

i think she will be ok.
Marion will be probably seeded top 8 before RG :)

Mar 31st, 2012, 07:52 PM
Charleston :
R1 : bye
R2 : Elena Vesnina or Stephanie Dubois

Mar 31st, 2012, 08:06 PM
R3 : Petrova, Rus or Tatishvili
R4 : Lisicki or Wickmayer

Mar 31st, 2012, 08:14 PM
Full Marion's quarter...

Lisicki vs. BYE
Falconi vs. Q
Panova vs. Q
King vs. Wickmayer

Petrova vs. Q
Rus vs. Tatishvilli
Dubois vs. Vesnina
Bartoli vs. BYE

Possible SF vs. JJ, Venus, or Stosur.

Apr 1st, 2012, 08:45 AM
Should make the SF, but it is clay.

Her focus should purely be on rome, madrid and RG. She can rack up enough premier points on hard.

Apr 1st, 2012, 07:14 PM
Due to Aga's wirhdrawal, Marion got Aga 's spot. And Serena got Marion's spot.
So R2 vs Vera Dushevina or qualifier.

very very good draw for Marion, but we'll see. It's clay !

Apr 1st, 2012, 10:25 PM
Bartoli v Bye
Dushevina v Q
Yakimova v Lepchenko
Date Krumm v Hercoq

Petrova v Morita
Q v Q
Danilidou v Kudryavtseva
Bye v Pavlyuchenkova

Zvonareva v Bye

U Radwanska v Hradecka
Q v Gajdasova

Mchale v Wozniak
Strycova v Q
Q v Minella
Bye v Safarova

Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better draw now!!! But as you say, its clay and its Marion!! Last year has proved she can play on it though so hopefully shes gotten over the mental block holding her back. Green clay is slightly faster too which should help.

Apr 2nd, 2012, 10:22 AM
Lol marion should make the F with ease now... but it's still clay :sobbing:

Apr 2nd, 2012, 05:22 PM
R2 vs Vera Dushevina

Apr 2nd, 2012, 06:01 PM
The H2H :scared:

Apr 4th, 2012, 09:17 AM
2nd position on CC.

Apr 4th, 2012, 12:05 PM
Was reading her post match transcript after beating azarenka and she said Cibulkova was her best friend on tour

Apr 4th, 2012, 08:06 PM
A win is a win, especially on clay : 6-2 6-7 6-4. 3hrs.

Next vs Polona Hercog.

Apr 4th, 2012, 08:09 PM
Win #18 :)

Apr 4th, 2012, 11:48 PM
She could have a punching bag if she beats Hercog, 4-0 H2H
I really feel this title is for Marion's taking. She has an excellent draw to semis/final, that doesnt happen to often.

Apr 5th, 2012, 06:39 AM
1st position on CC today vs Polona Hercog.

Apr 5th, 2012, 08:40 AM
Bepa worries me a bit, I know shes been shit all year but on clay and against Marion...

Apr 5th, 2012, 12:32 PM
Probably no TV coverage as it only starts with Serena's match.

Varvara Lepchenko, defeated by Polona Hercog in 2 sets, wrote on twitter that she "got food poison and foot injury before the tourney".

Apr 5th, 2012, 05:41 PM
FFS Marion!

Apr 5th, 2012, 05:44 PM

Apr 7th, 2012, 10:58 AM
Lost to Polona 4-6 6-1 4-6
It's said that the disruption by the Polona's MTO with Marion ahead 4-2 was the key factor for the defeat.
Nevertheless, two 3 hours matches in a row was a bit too much for current Marion.

Apr 7th, 2012, 11:30 AM
Charleston didn't matter, at least points wise.
Needs to bring her A game for rome and madrid

Apr 11th, 2012, 05:56 PM
No Strasbourg in 2012. Marion will play Brussels.

Apr 18th, 2012, 06:30 PM
And she entered as expected Montreal.

Apr 21st, 2012, 06:21 PM
Stuttgart MD :

(1)Victoria Azarenka (BLR) v BYE
(wc)Kristina Barrois (GER) v Andrea Petkovic (GER)
Ana Ivanovic (SRB) v (wc)Mona Barthel (GER)
Q v (7)Marion Bartoli (FRA)

Apr 21st, 2012, 06:21 PM

Apr 23rd, 2012, 05:08 PM
R1 : vs Iveta Benesova tomorrow

2nd position on CC NB 2:00 PM

Apr 24th, 2012, 01:54 PM
Solid win : 6-3 6-2. Marion was 0-2 down in 2nd set with game points each time. Her 2nd serve is really powerful. Hope she can improve 1st ball %age next match.

Apr 24th, 2012, 06:04 PM
Excellent win considering Benesova qualified and took her to 3 both times they played last. Massive amount of winners too!

Apr 25th, 2012, 09:10 AM
Highlights + interview :

Apr 25th, 2012, 02:04 PM
Mona Barthel next round. Big serve, but many up and down.

Apr 25th, 2012, 07:36 PM
2nd position on CC NB 2:00 pm

Apr 27th, 2012, 12:37 AM
Marion lost :hysteric:

Apr 27th, 2012, 10:38 AM
Today, in newspaper, she explains that it's not the end of world. RG clay is much more quicker and one slides less. Madrid and Stuttgart are the worst surfaces for her.

Apr 28th, 2012, 07:42 AM
A funny story : she practiced between Charleston and Stuttgart in her home club in France on clay indoor with a young guy who get a famous name in tennis world. In fact, She played many times with Thibault Forget, Guy Forget's youngest son.

May 4th, 2012, 03:02 PM
Madrid draw out :

(11)Francesca Schiavone (ITA) v Qualifier
Shahar Peer (ISR) v Polona Hercog (SLO)
Tsvetana Pironkova (BUL) v Anabel Medina Garrigues (ESP)
(7)Marion Bartoli (FRA) v Sorana Cirstea (ROU)

Imo, it's a good draw in order to check preparation level on clay.

May 4th, 2012, 05:40 PM
1st R1 on Manolo Santana from 1:00 PM : Sorana Cirstea vs. Marion Bartoli

Hope a TV coverage.

May 4th, 2012, 10:36 PM
Tricky first two rounds. Take it one match at a time here. A quick, low bouncing court though, should suit Marion more.

May 5th, 2012, 01:15 PM
Tough match is playing Marion against Cirstea at the moment.

May 5th, 2012, 01:17 PM
7-6 4-6 !!

May 5th, 2012, 02:19 PM
She lost in 1R
Adios Marion.

Any explanation?

May 5th, 2012, 03:33 PM

May 6th, 2012, 06:55 AM
Marion explained that she had a fever in the morning and had the esophagus painful. The reporter noticed she was coughing a lot. Concerning blue clay, conditions are similar to last year.

May 9th, 2012, 12:58 PM
Marion's fans propose to sign a petition for OG : http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/marion-bartoli-to-olympics/signatures

I signed it straight i knew about it, hope many others will sign it.

French Tennis Federation are ignorant assholes who do not like Marion or Walter
she has been bullied out of the Fed Cup after the 2004 tie where she helped them reach the final
i will never forget that picture of the 'clanny' French Fed Cup team excluding Marion
i signed it...
I BELIEVE she is the only realistic chance of a medal for France and should be allowed to represent her country
this is a very special case and in the past and even still i think Marion is treated unfairly by the French Tennis Federation
Marion and Walter have not needed the French Tennis Federation during her whole career which the Federation clearly did not like
BUT NOW the Bartoli's do need their help but the Federation's bitter asses are not willing to do so
i believe it is all personal...

May 12th, 2012, 11:18 AM
Roma MD is out :
R1 vs a bye
R2 : Goerges or Q

May 13th, 2012, 04:27 PM
Q placed for R1 : Goerges vs Wozniack

May 14th, 2012, 04:30 PM
R2 vs Julia Goerges.

May 15th, 2012, 06:02 PM
Wednesday OoP out : 2nd position on court 4.

May 15th, 2012, 08:32 PM

May 15th, 2012, 09:01 PM
tough match... but she did beat her at the french last year when Julia was playing better than she is now

May 16th, 2012, 11:29 AM
Marion and clay

May 16th, 2012, 11:32 AM
Come on Marion take the 2nd set

May 16th, 2012, 12:49 PM

May 16th, 2012, 12:58 PM
She cant afford to have as bad a hardcourt season as last year to still be in the top 8 I feel.

May 16th, 2012, 04:14 PM
Marion is still ill. She has been sick since Madrid and still feels very weak. At the end of Match, she had tears of frustation.

Brussels now.

May 18th, 2012, 03:29 PM
im not to to worried about her

last year she did absolutely nothing on clay until strasbourg where she reached the final

if she can turn it on again in time i think she can do okay at roland garros. Provided she gets some help with the draw ofcourse

i do feel she nees to perform better curing the summer hard court season to remain top 10 but she has to focus on what she's got coming first. She has a ton to defend between roland garros and wimbledon . She'll have the summer hard courts to gain points because she didnt do to much there

May 21st, 2012, 10:05 PM
letīs see how she will make it in Brussel, the draw seems to be okay so far and Iīm sure she will at least play a few matches on clay (and winning some, of course) and then itīs RG, where the French people will support her (like they did last year, when she was in the semis).

May 22nd, 2012, 02:25 PM
As she speaks to belgian journalists, it seems that she's healthy. Ula Radwanska in R2, probably tomorrow.

May 22nd, 2012, 08:33 PM
hopefully sheīs healthy. yes she plays the second match not before 2:00pm on the centre court!

May 23rd, 2012, 09:44 AM
Hope she can win a match :scared:

May 23rd, 2012, 09:52 AM
If she doesnt make the semis :tape:

May 23rd, 2012, 05:01 PM
well, letīs face it, she lost and the result is pretty clear 4-6, 2-6. whatīs wrong with her? or is it the clay?

May 25th, 2012, 04:38 PM
Draw is out.

R1: Q
R2: Martic or Kraijcek
R3: AMG :o
R4: Kerber or Pennetta
QF: Radwanska/Venus
SF: Vika/Sam

May 25th, 2012, 05:40 PM
she can definately make the 4th round with this draw at least..she might be able to get by kerber but i doubt it

but hey, a 4th round is alot better than anyone could have said before hand and who knows, maybe she'll surprise us? no one thought she'd get by gorges/hantuchova/kuznetsova last year either and she did

May 25th, 2012, 06:43 PM
Q placed : Karolina Pliskova, the righty twin.

She played lefty twin during Wimbledon 2011.

May 27th, 2012, 03:34 PM
OoP out : 4th position on Lenglen. Lenglen is much more slower than Chatrier. But weather predictions are good : around 25 c.

May 27th, 2012, 07:06 PM
Hi all :wavey:

Clay season has been such a disaster. I caught a bit of her match in Brussels and she wasn't moving well at all.

But she should beat Pliskvoa, who barely beat Robson and Broady on clay.

Good luck Marion!

May 27th, 2012, 07:17 PM
Im still scared :scared:

May 28th, 2012, 06:00 PM
6-3, 6-3 over pliskova

May 28th, 2012, 06:22 PM
Just glad she won!! In 2 sets too.

May 28th, 2012, 06:31 PM
Job done! Marion didn't really play well though stats speak in her favour.
Hope she can take advantage of her soft draw. Allez !

May 29th, 2012, 05:57 AM
Marion played 100000 times better than in Brussels, I think she is back on the right track.

May 29th, 2012, 09:07 AM

May 29th, 2012, 06:53 PM
OoP out : 3rd position on Lenglen.

May 30th, 2012, 04:00 PM
OMG guys people are jealous of Marion and just haters. So disgusting.

May 30th, 2012, 04:04 PM
Expected this so dont really care, Im glad that clay is finished now and she can get some rest, prepare for grass. She should take a WC to Birmingham. Still, another win or two would have been nice. Its a relief its just out of the way.

May 30th, 2012, 04:05 PM
OMG guys people are jealous of Marion and just haters. So disgusting.

That thread was ridiculous  The two main offenders are probably the worst trolls on TF this year though, you cant take them seriously.

May 30th, 2012, 04:06 PM
Disappointing clay season, but she had an excellent start to compensate, hopefully she can get another great grass season and pick it up during US hardcourts.

May 30th, 2012, 04:09 PM
Yea she can get points on the USO hard court season becasue she doesn't have much to defend and she has always done well at eastbourne so that will give her confidence for Wimbledon.

May 30th, 2012, 04:10 PM
Hope she can defend the majority of her points on grass, I'd be happy with a F at Eastbourne and QF at Wimbledon, not taking possible tough opponents into account.

As for hardcourts, she has an advantage, more practice and match practice on hardcourts while the other top players stay on grass for the Olympics.

May 30th, 2012, 04:59 PM
Great fighting spirit from Marion, she almost managed to turn things around whereas Martic was clearly the better and smarter player today.
She will have enough time to fix this serve and get in better shape. I don't think she was as toned as she was last year, I remember she was able to keep up in rallies better.
I hope she stays positive, she is good enough to stay in top 10 despite her poor slam record this year.
Keep working hard Baba!

May 30th, 2012, 06:48 PM
Oh well... Her SF from last is year is more than we could have ever hoped for on clay in her career.
