I'm thinking of going on a working holiday to France sometime next year, so was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of good cities/towns I could live in, that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg (ie. not Paris ;-) )

Good weather is also a definite asset!

I obviously don't live in France but I would suggest Perpignan. South France, good weather, things to do, and near Toulouse and Spain

What kind of town do you usually like? (Size, mood, architecture,...)

I've always wanted to visit Chartres for the cathedrals, are any of you from there? or been there?

Also do you have a 4 day working week in France? :o Someone told me that, am I naive in believing them so? lol
