Specifically referring to the Latin/Central American swing....You have:

Feb 13-19:Bogota,COL-Clay
Feb20-26:Monterrey,MEX-HARDCOURT
Feb27-Mar3:Acapulco,MEX-Clay

So players are going from Red Clay to Hardcourt then back to Red Clay in a matter of weeks....and it's even stranger considering the very next event is Indian Wells(which isn't far from Mexico) and is Hardcourts. On so many levels it would have been much more logical to switch Monterrey and Acapulco on the Calendar:confused:

Monterrey was always right before IW until this year I believe. Indeed, it doesn't make sense.

Yes, and the f*ck up this is the primary reason why the field was so atrocius this year.

I think it had something to do with Acapulco being a joint tourney with the ATP tour... since its a ATP 500 event they won out in terms of dates.

Davis Cup was moved, so Acapulco's a week later this year. They were always going to keep it as a joint event, they weren't going to run two tournaments in Mexico in the same week.

Not very good for the player's bodies having to move from clay to hard to clay!

Then again it does make things more interesting when players have to know how to quickly switch between surfaces.

She's losing 1st rounds anyway... No harm to her body. :spit:

I thought the Roadmap was designed to reduce injuries? Changing surfaces like that just increases the chance.

I am sure the WTA hate Copenhagen, putting it in some of the worst weeks possible since it started in 2010. Just put it either in February or October.

From the start it was planned playing the Danish Open in April, but first year(s) they got some months extra for planning, now it will stay in April and been played on indoor HC...
