Is there a therapist in here?

In future I'm trying to not care about Sabine's opinion of me or other fans opinion of me. But also be more careful with my comments. Important thing is for Sabine to be happy and find more consistency on the court.

Hey Mike,
that's probably a good start. :wavey:

Abolutely. :)

May I ask you something? Do you play tennis? If not, why not start playing? It's a great way to meet other people, appreciate the hard effort the pros put in and a good way to understand the game better. At least for me all three works. ;)
Plus: hitting some badass winners is the best therapy for anything.

Yes actually I do play tennis. I play in a doubles competition at the moment, the standard is pretty low though, but I do have some fun with it and my team is unbeaten. I've played singles before but I'm a better doubles player than at singles. I play just for fun but yeah I appreciate the hard work and preparation that the players go through and good times and bad times are part of their life as a pro.

An actual tennis hangover. I don't have them often though. My most memorable one was when Murray lost to Federer in the AO final in 2010 (yes, for me it was heartbreaking... don't judge). I had a shocking hangover the next day. So bad I had to call in sick for work. Probably the lowest point of my tennis fandom.

Hello. I don't know where to start. At the beginning I guess. I am a Sabineaholic. I know exactly when it started. I caught the tail end of a gorgeous Boom Boom Blonde German girl blasting a Chinese tennis player Li Na out of sight at Wimbledon 2011. I saw her after-match interview. She smiled. I was captivated. I started following her progress. I rejoined tennis forum. I watched her You Tube videos. I started trawling the net for stories of her, pictures of her, ANYTHING of her. I even started following her on Facebook & Twitter. Day & night.

Any--anyway, now, I can't get off the Sabine bandwagon. Every interview, every smile, every word. Every up. Every down. On court, off court, Crown Court. Slam, WTA, Fed Cup.

You see, my fellow Sabine fans, I'm addicted. Is there any cure??????

Anyway, enough about Mike.......

Mike81

 Well... most of you've probably read about my story of how I came to follow Sabine so much...

Although the real origin of me starting to really follow her closely came from a pretty random thing.

Soccer World Cup 2010- following the 'Socceroos' first game, we were embarassed 4-0 by the might of Germany. While drowning my sorrows after this loss, I surfed twitter and searched for people talking about the game. I came across a conversation between two tennis players, Sabine Lisicki and Jarka Groth. Sabine was gloating to Jarka about Germany's win, while Jarka replied that she's only Aussie because of her (then) husband :tape:

I'd heard of Sabine before and watched a little bit of her in the Hopman Cup, but I wasn't really watching alot of tennis at the time. I wasn't watching FULL matches, I usually preferred to watch cricket instead, which typically was on at the same time as tennis.

I was impressed by the fact that she was active in the social networks and replying to her fans, especially during her injury lay-off in 2010, and I started to discover her youtube videos :hearts: I thought what a lovely humble young woman she is, with her beautiful smile, laugh and cheeky sense of humour. I also watched videos of previous successes on the court in 2009 in Charleston and Wimbledon and I decided she was the player I wanted to follow. Unfortunately the first FULL Sabine match that I watched (although on replay) Sabine lost to Zvonareva at US Open 2010, clearly she was underdone after her injury lay off.

Then I finally made a twitter account in December 2010 and Sabine was the first person I followed. About the middle of that month, I commented on a photo of her training. I changed my account so I don't have my original tweet, but it was about the first time I saw her was in the Hopman Cup and I started to really love her recently.

Her reply "Thank you! the Hopman Cup is a great tournament, I had alot of fun there :)"

The rest, as they say, is history :worship:

I really dont get why everyone gets all crazy about when they get a retweet or a reply from some player, they just klick retweet on a nice message, or write a short thank you message, thats just 2 seconds of their time and they propably dont do that themself everytime.

Maybe i dont get it, because i never got such a Message myself, do to the fact that i dont send any Tweets to them.

I just shared my honest story. Can't hide the truth. I don't think I'm more important than any fan just because I shared some words with Sabine on the internet several times a month for about 6 months, I was just lucky to have the experience, and certainly most of you guys I'd say have more intricate knowledge of tennis than me. I'm more an expert about Football, Rugby etc than Tennis.

Twitter had alot to do with getting to like Sabine so much originally, which was I became crazy when she no longer would reply to me (besides missing having a beautiful and famous sportswoman pay me attention, which is a very rare opportunity) Alot of the tweets were short thank you's but also a couple of conversations, like about Grammy's and Oscars :)

But really her life has changed since then and so has mine. I have a job now and I didn't then, she has alot more fame and other commitments than she did then. Some celebs are very interactive on twitter and others aren't, it just depends on how much interaction that she wish to have with fans. She wanted alot for a while and now she prefers not to have as much, it's her choice. I like some people on twitter who never ever reply and some who do quite often. It's just their personal preference, and alot of other people don't have twitter and say they're not interested in getting it.

I held the desire for replies for far too long and that in the end made me frustrated at Sabine. I would prefer the chance to meet her in person one day. I am an aspiring sports journalist, so it would be a dream to interview Sabine one day.

I got a RT and a TY after the Sharapova match. That was pretty cool, I have to admit.

I guess, what happens is this:
As a fan you spend a lot - I mean A LOT - of time cheering, wailing, crying, cheering again and cheering some more for you favourite players. Oh, sometimes you even spend loads and loads of money to be there and cheer for them.
You cheer and you suffer and you stick with'em, right?

It's actually quite nice to get some recognition for your silly fan enthusiasm. ;)

Hmm... How do I meet Sabine in my life? A very distant history xd

Everything has started in Melbourne, year 2008. My No.1 was Aga Radwanska in that moment (then I was very patriotic :X) and I just reading AO Qualies Draw... and I noticed a really new name - Lisicki! Wow, never heard about her, polish name, I will watch her scores xd And... she passed qualies and got Safina in 1st round... Then I forgot about her, but... In MD scores I saw: Sabine Lisicki def. Dinara Safina  I was shocked, I need to know something about her, cause I dont even know how is she looks like  And... I found these picks from that match:

http://www1.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Sabine+Lisicki+Australian+Open+2008+Day+2+QVblspNZ iWYl.jpg

http://www3.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Sabine+Lisicki+Australian+Open+2008+Day+2+GmiwHMWZ PgZl.jpg

And I thought: Lol, she's sooo young, she has a bright future behind her. She reached 3rd round(!) there I think, as a qualifier

But... I still didn't know how style of play she has, how she plays? I really wanted to see her in action.

Still heard about her in 2008 (beat Davenport in FC, Chakvetadze in Miami - I saw her for the 1st time in a short Youtube video from this match, I thought: she has quite decent game, I have to say in that time I was cheering from Chaky xd And I don't look that much at Sabine - Ula Radwanska in Tashkent) but still didn't know too much about her... And I forget about her a little cause of a few more losses in 1st rounds...

And the 2009 goes on. AO again, loss in 2nd round to Stosur... then SF in Memphis  Lost to Azarenka, very close match... And I thought then: Oh, she's already developing, soon I will see her in all its glory :) Time has passed... few more losses in early round, and Charleson goes on, saw her in draws and Venus around her... Oh, maybe, maybe... it's the time? And the time has come, I don't even know what match Eurosport will broadcast... I just turn on TV for watching some tennis... and then... I saw the caption - [2]Venus Williams vs [16]Sabine Lisicki  Yes! Finally I will watch her! And... when I viewing, I was shocked. Really, I was shocked and impressed, how huge power and talent she has. Confident girl, powerful groundstrokes, she felt no respect for Venus at all  She's just playing GOAT! After all the fight and a huge amount of excellent tennis, she beat Vee. I was speechless. In this moment I was sure - I'm her biggest fan! :inlove: And then goes the whole title (:woohoo: :sobbing: never-forget moment...)

We7uIprDfjk

And so it all began :inlove:

Her training regime must've really changed after the injury lay-off in 2010. She moved much better on the court back then too.

As for me, I became a Sabine fan after Hopman Cup in 2009. I met her at the hotel we were both staying at before the tournament started. I thought she was the nicest player I had ever met so decided to watch her next few matches and became an instant fan because I also loved her game. Yeah, I often thing the Germans could do better. Last Fed Cup against Czech was embarrassing. The Czech fans were great, the Germans... hmmm... didn't hear much from then.
They are so subdued all the time, waiting if their players make it. If not, they are disappointed and make a face and only in the last second before a loss they begin cheering.
They should be cheering from the first second, for every freaking point to get the player in a good mood by telling them they believe in them....

After winning the Championship I asked Petra "Did you hear my shouts Petra?" she answered "Yes, always.. You never stop " and David Kotyza thanked me 3-4 times for my support.

And I got these:

Yeah, I'm good at it, too. It worked for Sabine against Sveta at the AO. She gave me RT (Yes, yes, yes! :yippee: A social media RT, Mike.... :ras: ;)) for my "Oi, Oi, Oi's" However, I think she believed I was some Aussie person. Hahaha.

Yes :) Petra was my favorite on that tournament and I told her she will win that tournament on her first training. I never gave up shouting for her. If you had heard "Lets Go Petra" and "Pojd Petra" it was me :) I also watched 3 matches on Petra's player guest seat.

I still talk with Petra, her team and with Torsten Peschke on fb. We didn't break the connection.
Czech people are really friendly and nice ;)

There's some serious Sabine fans on here! I've just registered, but have followed Sabine for a few years. I live in Jersey, Channel Islands and in October 2007 we watched her win an ITF event here, beating Petr Martic in the final. I was captivated by her aggressive play, yet also having this infectious personality and smile that would lighten the darkest of arenas. She's had a terrible 3 months though, losing points at Wimbledon and US Open, plus making no defence of Dallas, and a poor performance at Birmingham. Let's hope she has a good finish to the year

I was highly emotional after the loss because I invest alot of emotion and energy into my following of Sabine and with all the disappointment I was over dramatic. Sometimes I do get depressed about how my life to an uncommon level but I don't really mean what I said. I think I'm probably too sensitive to handle GM and even alot of you fans on here. I don't need help because I already know the solution, just find it hard to do, it's like a habit I can't give up a bit like an alcoholic. I simply need to focus on other things for the meantime and with Sabine not playing for a while, it's a good chance. I genuinely like Sabine but I would agree that I put too much emotional energy into her, it's to makeup for other things lacking in my life and it's to be nice to her and support her wholeheartedly, it's not because I wish to 'stalk' her. I will be toning down my support of her this year, but still cheer for her. If that means I'm no longer such a big fan  so be it.

Don't feel pressurised to reveal all your troubles in life, Mike. If you followed a football team like that, people would say you're a fantastic fan. Tennis is an individual sport, so our passions tends to focus on a person and not a team. If you were standing outside her home in Florida, or if Sabine had taken out a restraining order, then criticism would be fair, but you just seem a huge fan who is overly emotional at times. Don't let keyboard bullies drive you underground, Mike

I changed my sig. I don't believe I am her No 1 fan anymore. In part this is because she doesn't seem to accept me as her big fan, and I was a little upset that she retweeted a couple of collages from some new fan. She never retweeted any of mine  Which may be bad luck or she maybe doesn't want to acknowledge me. Also a 2nd straight year of her missing the Sydney tourn was a blow for me.

So she's just my favourite tennis player now but not my favourite person anymore like I felt she once was. I get retweets and replies from actresses and singers too I have similar interests with and chat with a few girls on facebook who are facebook friends, I hope to meet one of them and date in real life rather than someone like Bine who I have little in common with. I don't understand the mind of a tennis star but do with other types of people. Also it's hard trying to be such a big fan (and I really do want to be!) and having other fans criticise me so much (a couple of fans especially), talk about me on their own twitter pages, and they mischaracterise me and my intentions. Well I have people in the world who do appreciate me and accept me, so I might focus on them more now rather than Sabine and tennis fans. Rather following Sabine would just be a bit of fun like it was when I started in 2010, it's become too serious for me and not enjoyable.

Think this is the right thread for me to get this off my chest. Don't want to take any other threads off topic and be a troublemaker, just want a forum to express my thoughts.

Still in a state of shock after Sabine blocked me on twitter. It was plaguing my mind in my sleep and even when I went to the movies today. I've said she's not my 'No 1' in general but only in tenni, BUT I still have a love for Bine and this rejection has cut me deep. To be blocked is worse than being ignored. It's a clear statement from her that she doesn't want my support

I accept it was partly my fault if I bugged her about not replying before and she recognised me and believes me to be 'creepy'. Maybe she was aware of my reputation on TF...but she doesn't realise that I just very passionate about her and I probably don't know how to express it properly. There are extra things I could reveal about myself to make people understand me better but I don't trust you guys, you haven't proven very understanding in the past and a few of you just love to mock me, so I won't give you more reasons to.

Should I apologise on her facebook fanpage since I upset her and say 'please unblock me?'. I don't know, she'd probably just block me on there too. Nowadays she's a pretty private person and obviously I make her uncomfortable.

Sure I can make another account to follow her and I still follow her on @sabinefans_ but I hardly feel motivated. As I said I'm in shock and kind of numb. It hurts when you really like someone and they reject you. I haven't felt this hurt for a while.

EDIT: Just came back from my tennis doubles comp and even though my team won, was still feeling mentally jaded...But please don't think I'm going to call Sabine names and be against her just because of the hurt feelings and the blocking. It does make it difficult for me to no where to go from here though. I accept I've not gone about things exactly the right way and she's unfortunately got an impression of me which isn't quite accurate.

I think this off topic group is appropriately named for me, a 'hopeless case'

But I think you have to look at things from her perspective. She's a young lady who has obviously had some bad fan experiences previously. She has to be careful. And we have to respect that.

As a newly minted fan, I have looked at her @ mentions and a few of them made me want to slap whoever wrote them: two of them were yours. There's nothing wrong with being a passionate fan, but imagine if you were a 23 year old woman with throngs of mostly way old(er) dudes salivating over you through social media. :scared: It's no wonder why she has distanced herself somewhat from twitter/facebook. Hi WozLolz thanks for your comment.

I guess I've not understood why she went from being so interactive to much more discreet. You're probably right she is quite suspicious of fans and grew suspicious of me. I wish I could convince her I'm only been a passionate fan and got too obsessed because for a time she was a 'dream girl' for me.

Then I compare her to her other public figures that have replied to me and reply more often to fans and I wish Sabine would do the same, because I really enjoyed when she used to talk to fans, it was a nice thing in my life and I came to be a much bigger fan of her than I otherwise would have, even though I was already her fan before she replied to me. This was all in 2010-11 so you think I would've gotten over it and stopped tweeting her and just been happy with the other tweets I was getting and my chats on FB, but I grew so fond of Bine I missed the contact. I obviously creeped her out as well with my tweets, I didn't mean to. I guess I am just clueless with women

I would like to say sorry on FB for whatever I did to upset her but I feel she either won't see it or if she does just block me on there.

I'm not sure what I will do yet. If I get a new top fave then I hope people would understand it's not because I suddenly hate Bine, I don't! but because I might just need a fresh start. I would certainly never be anti-Sabine. I'm sure she thinks she has good reason to be suspicious of my tweets and maybe she's even seen my over the top postings on TF and other sites, all get too carried away!! I've approached Sabine with passion, with love but also acted stupidly at times, all because I enjoyed the attention she gave me too much (don't get too much from women!) and overrated it's significance  Also I get crazy in this virtual world but am more reserved and make better decisions in the 'physical world' I guess.. I've not always thought about how what I do will impact other people.

My guard is down so if anyone has questions of me, you can ask them in here. Even my 'haters' are welcome.

Actually she hasn't blocked my fan page for her @sabinefans_. She blocked my personal account.

I think she probably took offence to a couple of tweets of mine and I suspect she was suspicious of me anyway due to some of my posts over a period of time, possibly she was aware of me on different sites. I don't know if she's blocked anyone else, I really don't know what's going on with her life. Did you say something that was sexually suggestive, because I get the impression she doesn't like that?

She seems quite guarded these days. Does anybody know if Sabine has had a problem with a stalker in her personal life?

She must get hundreds of tweets Mike, and the majority are probably from men declaring their love, or wanting to get into her underwear.
I think I'd find that a little tiresome or offputting after a while too

Yes I believe she did have a stalker so she has good reasons in her mind to be suspicious. Unfortunately over the internet it's hard to convey intention and she can easily take something from a fan the wrong way too. She could look at some of my posts and consider me a potential stalker, even though I know I'd never go to an event and bother or follow her around or anything like that. The way I am online is quite different from how I am in real life.

If that's true, then that would explain much of Sabine's detachment from over excited fans.

I'm sure all German Tennis fans remember the stabbing of Monica Seles by a crazed Steffi Graf fan!

She's right to feel threatened by people trying to get too close to her.
The problem for a tennis player is we all know where she is a lot of the time, she's either at a tournament, or at home in Bradenton.

For somebody whose admiration for Sabine has grown into obsession, she's probably quite easy to find, so maybe she just doesn't give any encouragement to people she's never met anymore

Don't take it personally Mike

Understandable. Although the fact she hasn't even played in Sydney the last two years when I wanted to watch her and hoped for a chance to meet had me taking things even more personally. Now she's blocked me, obviously she felt I've crossed the line. Thanks for this explanation because I hadn't really thought of it that way. Sabine doesn't want to take any chances and even though I don't mean to seem threatening, she doesn't know that. I've blamed her for not being open enough with fans lately while other celebs I follow are but those celebs never had a stalker, so I need to respect Sabine's situation more, maybe even I am partly to blame for her keeping things low key.

I tend to get over excited and a bit 'obsessed' with things because of a condition my parents told me I have and had all along but I only found out two years ago. It also means social skills I'm not so naturally good at.

This link is about my condition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome

I thought I would reveal this because people like to mock me and say 'go see a doctor', it's not a joke to me and I'm sick of people saying these things to me!

That would explain a lot. As someone with similar tendencies Mike, all I can say is that you have to somehow try and maintain perspective and find a bit of restraint; often it's better to only think something rather than actually say it, particularly online where context is king and everything is open to misinterpretation. I suspect if you were able to dial it back a bit then people on here would get off your back and Sabine would be more appreciative, even if she doesn't show it.

Also I'm relatively shy in real life and introverted because I struggle to read people's emotions some times and I have trouble at times telling when someone is serious or someone is joking. That is because of my condition. So to counter that I get very expressive online because it's just words on a screen and I don't feel shy. You're right, I do need to think more carefully about what I type online.

So it's out there now that I have this condition called Asperger's Syndrome, and I will always have it, people are born with it. It's a bit like autism, just a milder version of it. Mine is much milder than some but explains why I tend to obsess with things.

Mike, you really need to get things into perspective. To make another twitter account and contacting her through it might actually confirm Sabine's concerns to her that you are obsessed with her. I don't think people like this kind of feeling even if it just online.

Just get back to your main reason to like Sabine: her tennis. Or is it other things that you like most about her, e.g. her smile and appearal?

I still follow her on @sabinefans_ my twitter fan page for her, which I haven't updated so often of late. I intend to tweet her less but still wanted to apologise to her for whatever I did for her to block me.

I like Sabine for all of those reasons, of course I want to see her win on the court like any other fan but I also enjoy the nice pictures and interviews.

I'm sure the internet has opened up a new world of being able to contact people & interact with strangers like you would never do face to face

Yes I suppose they don't, although she is my clear favourite tennis player and when I had twitter contact with her, I naievely believed it may be possible to befriend her or that I was a 'special fan' because she for a time replied so much. But now I realise that didn't mean all that much, she just liked my nice messages but never intended to get to know fans personally.

Hi everyone, while I am still a fan of Sabine, due to concerns to do with both mental and physical health, I am shifting focus off her a bit for the time being. Sabine has enough problems with her tennis without fans like me trying to bring extra drama into her life. I've also deleted those recent apology tweets because she probably wouldn't have seen them and if she did may have blocked my fan account too. I give her the benefit of the doubt, most people would be suspicious of my behaviour, they don't know my unique qualities so even though I'm well intentioned mostly, alot of my posts just make me come across as obsessed and that obviously worries Sabine.

I will be paying more attention to my old fave Ana Ivanovic, who was my fave before I discovered Sabine. I was never infatuated with Ana, just liked her tennis when she was a top player and saw her play live at the Australian Open in 2007.

Also I now realise that I'm too addicted to social media and a good thing is that Ana is not on twitter, so there's no temptation to try and get a reply from her.

I still like Sabine alot and she's still my fave and I like her alot, I just will focus less on her because obviously she DOESN'T LIKE IT and it's not good for me either, I noticed the bags under my eyes from hours in front of a computer and posture problems as well as not being able to concentrate at work properly due to thinking about Sabine blocking me, and I realise that's just not good for me. But I will still cheer for Bine and hope she can still turn her form around. I feel bad for her to see her current form like this.

Thanks, I will do that. It's just for the best.

and I've seen some nasty tweets to Sabine after her loss  My tweets to her have usually been nice, although some admittedly annoying, creepy and even critical of late.

Sure it was a poor performance and you expect criticism , although when I see people tweeting her 'You are an absolutely terrible tennis player' and 'You are disgrace to the sport' or 'Retire now'. I don't blame Sabine for really reducing her twitter activity. I hope she doesn't read her tweets today. Players can be cyber bullied and it's understandable they don't want to get to close with tennis fans when that happens.

That's what I meant Mike. If I was a pro player, I would not want to read this kind of stuff on a daily or weekly basis.

Someone on twitter saw this thread about be admitting condition and tweeted 'so he actually is crazy'.

Actually NO, having Asperger's doesn't make me crazy, even if my behaviour at times has been a bit  It's how I was born, a milder form of autism, but it's more a difference and not a disability. I do not consider myself disabled, in fact I have a very good memory which is a common strength of people with the condition.

Thanks for sharing Mike. I am on the board of our local organization that diagnoses and treats children with the whole spectrum of autistic disorders and I personally know people with Aspergers. While they may say or do something that seems inappropriate at the time, they are invariably the most earnest, well-intentioned people I know. I guess you have learned that the internet can be a double-edged sword -- it makes it easier to express yourself in ways you would not be able to face-to-face, but it is even harder for those you interact with to see what is going on and because of the anonymity of the internet, it makes it easier for others to be callous towards you because of your condition. I doubt the person who tweeted that you are "crazy after all" would say that to your face.

I am certain that Sabine is being cautious rather than callous and has probably thought a lot about how her tweeting back to fans may have given some people the wrong ideas. I would just try to give her support over Facebook but you have to make it clear that you are supporting her as a fan of her as a tennis player and not seeking some other form of relationship. If you just try to say something halfway intelligent and supportive you will be way ahead of the garbage and vitriol that seems to dominate these days. I don't expect any response from Sabine and she certainly doesn't owe me any response. But she has been my main inspiration in trying to continue to play tennis as I have suffered from serious knee problems (patellofemoral syndrome) the last three years and maybe I can give an ounce of that inspiration back to her as she could certainly use some at the moment. (That is also why I get very defensive when people attack her on the basis of her illnesses and injuries).

Yes that's true that I have good intentions but probably haven't handled some things in the best way both online and in 'real life'. I won't tweet her or write on her facebook for a while, if she is suspicious of me then it's best to just leave her alone.

And you're surprised you got blocked? That would piss me off too, especially on a bad day.

No I'm not surprised, I should've been more thoughtful with some of my recent tweets to her even if I thought at the time they were pretty harmless. I have other people that reply to me anyway so I don't really need Sabine's attention, I was just frustrated that my original idea of Sabine as someone really interactive with fans online was not actually a reality, she just went through a phase of being interactive. Sabine is actually quite a private person and we can't pressure her to be otherwise, I finally learnt that the hard way.

If you came here just to pick an argument with me, well I'm sorry, I'm not playing. I'm sure the conversation amuses you but it is serious. I didn't have to reveal those details about myself but I chose to. Now I just want to be left alone.

But it's your attitude that seems to imply that you aren't familiar with Aspergers -- or at least I thought I was giving you the benefit of the doubt. This took a lot from Mike to reveal this on a site like this and if you can't show him tolerance and compassion, then you're in worse shape than he's ever been in.

I'm still a Sabine fan and she's my favourite player. I've now changed my avatar back to a picture of Sabine.

I still have an account to tweet and still can comment on her facebook page, but I'm not sending her any tweets that are over the top or too intrusive. Hopefully if I just show her more respect and consideration she won't have a problem with me. As I told you I have Asperger's, one thing with the condition is it means I'm prone to repetitive patterns of behaviour, not just with obsessing over a tennis player but also I will do other things repeatedly like I prefer to drive the same route to a place all the time or I order the same meals etc etc I get into a comfort zone, a cycle which is hard to break. The other weird things I've done like create extra accounts were part of that obsession and my Asperger's, it wasn't because I want to be dishonest, but because I was desperate to achieve certain goals due to the obsessive devotion. I wasn't aware of the consequences for some of my actions. Her blocking me has taught me some important lessons.

I still think it's ok for me to like Sabine, she is a nice person and a good tennis player. It will be unhealthy for me to follow her so intensely as I have before. However I don't want to pretend to be an Ana fan when I still like Sabine better. This is just for tennis because she's not my big crush anymore, there are other celebs and more importantly girls on facebook who I may have a chance to meet who make my heart beat faster, but I still love to follow and cheer for Sabine

Yes I was hurt and disappointed by Sabine blocking me. But if I came across as a creep, it doesn't matter that the truth is I'm a nice but misguided guy with Aspergers Syndrome.
She can't be expected to know that. Also if she's not my dream girl anymore and only my favourite player I shouldn't care if she replies to me or not. Hopefully I can just follow her as a more casual fan and there won't be dramas anymore.

I know alot of you guys like to make fun of me around here and I've seen people's convos about me on twitter. I must be a masochist because I laughed at some of the things they wrote, even though I know they were having a laugh at my expense... I'd just like to let you all know that I'm trying my best. You won't see a return to the old Mike81.

Update as we come into Wimbledon always a special time of year for Bine

You know I'll always back Bine, I've had my down times with her and issues, but I still love her, like a fan loves their favourite player and almost admire her as a lovely and energetic personality in the women's game. But I don't follow her obsessively anymore. You can still count on me to support her and stand up for her sometimes in GM. It may seem odd after she blocked one of my twitter accounts a while ago that I still support her like this, but I accepted that I was to blame, even if Sabine had the wrong idea of me it's my fault for expecting and craving attention from her as if I was special. I have even exaggerated things or on TF in the past and other sites because I liked the attention and I'm in a difficult place in my own life emotionally at the moment, (things are getting better though :). Fantasising over her was a nice distraction to more real issues in my own life, like financial issues, socialising problems etc..

Whatever enjoyment we get from following her both on and off court we just make the most of it. There's a lesson in that for all of us, be thankful for what we've got and don't just think about what we don't have, if we focus on what we don't have then we don't appreciate properly what we do have.

Is anyone here as strange as me? :)

I have been following the career of Sabine, since being in the crowd in 2007 when she won the ITF event in Jersey

Now she gets thousands more followers after beating Williams, with all sorts of declarations of love etc, and I feel like saying "Hey piss off, I've been supporting Sabine for 6 years!"

There is a funny feeling when we see more casual tennis fans embrace Sabine due to her amazing Wimbledon performance and guys also saying how beautiful she is and how they wish to marry her

Although I'm also thrilled to see more and more people get to know who she is and notice the same things I've noticed :hearts:

I've been following her for about three years, I didn't really follow her back in '09 when she had some great form. I was less interested in the WTA back then and mostly the WTA player I followed back then was Ana Ivanovic. I wish I had of followed her back then to but my story is my story and a rather crazy one which many of you on here know. Really though my feelings of joy for Sabine this week haven't been tempered by my own fan issues with her (obviously she blocked me on twitter a while ago).

I just like to see Sabine win and be happy, I love her unconditionally as a fan  that doesn't change despite my own fan disappointments in the past. I come to understand some of my self centeredness in the past and delusions anyway and while I don't mean any harm, I have to respect how others may misinterpret my ill judged actions. So I am more thoughtful now.

I'm often the kind of person who feels things very deeply. Sabine often appears to be that way too. That's a nice thing :) In many ways we're very different and probably wouldn't understand eachother, not many people understand the way I tick, but I'm glad that Sabine feels and shows so much passion and joy for what she does, I feel it with things in my life but probably don't show it and have trouble showing it. That's why I open up online, I'd be too shy to talk like this in real life except to people I'm really close to. I think Sabine's a very beautiful person for how she expresses herself

I was inspired by that kind of post and I realised that I was sounding like the O1J although I didn't realised you would see it considering it wasn't about Sabine. I think you're taking it a little far by keeping tabs on what I do even when I'm not posting about Sabine  I think you should just let it go.

I admit I did some odd things in the past and created a few extra accounts but the O1J is a different person to me.

At the moment pantherz9103 is the only account I use to comment about Sabine. My Sabine fan account on there I cannot access anymore due to a gmail problem.

I admit that I did some things that weren't right in the past both on TF and on youtube. I no longer do those things but people already see me on here as strange. It's not like I'm protecting my reputation and lying to you, because my reputation is already as 'that crazy Sabine fan'.

I'm simply telling the truth though on this issue like I always have. O1J is a different person and I have no contact with them anymore.

What? did a search on Sabine? The comment was not anything to do with Sabine.. I have other interests besides her.

Don't you have better things to do? I sure do. I seriously doubt people want to read about this as well.

In this thread, I've been honest in admitting to other accounts, I revealed that I have Asperger's Syndrome too, something I didn't have to do but wanted to do because I shouldn't feel ashamed of something I was born with.

I've not been dishonest about anything in this thread.

I'm no longer a Sabine fanatic. I didn't plan to be anymore after she blocked me but then she had that great run at Wimbledon and charmed me with her smile and play, so I thought I could keep on with things like they were before, but I realised during her absence for a weeks that things just aren't the same anymore. In that time I've broken certain habits and enjoyed my life more as a result.

I will keep following her, I like her but just not as much anymore. I still consider her my favourite player in tennis, I just have more passion for other activities, interests and people now. It is better that way for me, Sabine and other fans, but mostly for me, it's not a judgement against Sabine. It's just reality. I still hope for the best for her.

I deleted a lot of videos and photos of her from my computer to re-inforce this. It isn't healthy to follow her like I used to. The nice things I say about her like 'beautiful soul' is just the way I really am. I try to very loving towards those I'm passionate for.

I like Sabine Lisicki as a tennis player and she appears a nice person, she's attractive and all that, but I've just found my passion and enjoyment for other things to be greater now than for her.

The last thing Bine needs is for fans to kick when she is down. I'm a bit of a desserter but I think for good reason and out of Bine's consideration because I'd been a bit crazy and it was a healthy change to focus more on Genie. But lately my interest in Bine has risen because I'm upset with the comments being made by ppl on GM and some of her fans. You can't just abandon her, she needs support and if you like as a person not just as a player you know she needs fans to support her. For all the frustration she's given me, it still hurts to see all the negativity written about Bine. I had a reason to tone down the support, but the rest of you need to keep it up, or do you only like her when she wins?
