Wonder if the result would of had been the same if that ace of Julia wasn't incorrectly called in......

Neverthless I am happy for her and hopes she beats Caroline tomorrow.

It was a good match. Julia should beat Caro pretty easily tomorrow playing like that. :yeah:

Daniela played good tennis as well, just slow starts to both the second and third sets killed her. Was down 4-0 and *3-0 in each and fought back but not enough today. Still a good tournament, showing good form, and going to peak in time for Indian Wells. :hearts:

Julia's got big bo.. er brains.

She had an exquisite plan that was perfectly aimed at keeping the tall and lanky Hantu off of her comfort zone and on the move as much as possible.

Hantu seem to be not much of a thinker/tactician and so she ends up losing resolutely despite having the more powerful groundstrokes.

Nice fight from Dani in the 3rd- a bit more like that more often and she could have won, but Julia played some great shots.

Julia has a great chance against Caroline.

Angelique has more chance to do that. Goerges has a lot of points to defend on clay in the near future.

She doesn't even have that much to defend, a win and a SF... she can easily improve on her RG result and the HC results and Wimbledon leave lots of room for improvement as well.

Each week, a different German is supposed to take over Andrea's place.:p  (I think long term Angelique has the most potential to achieve that)

Great match, congrats to both Julia and Daniela.

I wish I could have seen this match! It was interesting that this was their first meeting ever, apparently.

(This also makes me want to see what other Top 25 players have never played each other...hmmm.)

Sounds like Julia played excellently! Hope she can keep that up again vs. Caroline! ;)

Also looks like a nice "payday" for getting to the Semifinals...

Agreed - yes the two weeks for Stuttgart and Madrid is a significant amount of points... but she has this week and I think especially Indian Wells and Miami where she can gain ground, in addition to Roland Garros. And who says she can't do well in Stuttgart and Madrid again?

A win and a SF is quite a lot. And i don't see her improve that much, today was ok, tomorrow? From what i've seen sofar Angelique is at least more consistent and surely a better HC player where most of the tournaments are played. Afaik they're both not very good on grass.

Yes definitely, I think she's one of the top contenders on clay.

Daniella really has a beautifully timed down the line which is a nightmare straight on Julia's forehand. Daniela's flat shots and effortless redirection (especially in the third set) are really efficient also on that surface but Julia showed determination and fight certainly what won her 60% of the match with her great talent.

That's the way to go Julia. :D

Wow! Great match and stats by Jules.

As far as your comments, "is anything really ever certain and easy with Julia Georges (except for last year at Stuttgart and Madrid)?"

Come on. Julia may win, could win, should win. But who the hell knows with her, most times?   Caro's got some motivation as well. She may be tougher than you think! Remember she's a fighter.

We'll see? Should be a good match though. I'm hoping for fireworks.

Pretty good match :D

I have to say I was rooting for both :oh:
Julia has really grown on me and by the end I felt like she deserved the match. I feel like Im cheating on Dani :sobbing:

Still a good week for her and tbh Julia has a better shot at taking out Woz.

Good stats from both girls.

Now rest up Daniela and win Indian Wells :)

Was an entertaining & on exciting match on elevated level to watch. At the end of the day Julia

won almost $ 100 grand on prize money,
booked a ticket for her first SF (additional $ 100K+ on stake) since 220K Luxembourg 2011 to play tomorrow the featured match against former WTA # 1 and defending Champion Caroline Wozniacki who she defeated in back-to-back tournaments on red clay last spring and
will be top tier seed at Indian Wells and Miami as well.

She doesn't even have that much to defend, a win and a SF... […].

Julia accumulated 2,605 ranking points during the last 52 weeks. 1,040 ranking points (= 40%) coming from the Championship in Stuttgart (470 ranking points), a SF in PM Madrid (450 ranking points) and QF at Family Circle Cup (120 ranking points which she can almost compensate with a R2 of P5 Toronto 2011).
Julia defeated one Top 20 [Jelena Jankovic (# 14) at P5 Toronto 2011] and eight Top 50 players [Daniela Hantuchova (# 21) & Svetlana Kuznetsova (# 27) at P Dubai 2012; Petra Cetkovska (# 31) & Shahar Peer (# 37) at P Paris [Indoors] 2012; Polona Hercog (# 35) at Australian Open 2012; Lucie Safarova (# 37) at French Open 2011, Anabel Medina Garrigues (# 43) at Wimbledon 2011 & Tamira Paszek (# 45) at 220K Luxembourg] after PM Madrid 2011.
Taking only the relevant results into account, Julia will not be seeded either in Stuttgart or Madrid, at French Open she is # 29 and in Wimbledon she is # 25.

Both these players were miles better than either player in the previous quaterfinal. Ana and Caro were awful. 90 UE and 42 winners. while Daniela and Julia combined had the same amount of UE (in a three set match) as Ivanovic in a two set loss :help: and 75 winners

No doubt Goerges will win comfortably tomorrow if she keeps agressive and hit winners

49/27 W/UF, winner/UF differentiate is +22 : That is a very amazing stat !

Now look back at this stat, collected almost a year ago when she had played the very best tennis in Stuttgart. (credit to HuHu for a screencap)

Against Stosur in SF round the winner/UF differentiate is, surprisingly, exactly the same +22! (W/UF-50/28)
http://i51.tinypic.com/4iocq8.jpg

I'll say if she keeps playing at "this" level she has a great chance repeating what she had done in Stuttgart.

Very much pleased by Julia's match. But you have to be honest, this was badly needed after going out with disappointing performances three times in a row.
