all is right with the SEWTA again

our Princess Karolina back as the top SEED in a tournament and she is taking names, especially pretenders like Simona that try to copy her game :worship:

Simona ballbashing. I can't :crying2:

Well, Caro is a bad match-up as expected because she forced Simona to go against her natural on court instincts and her lack to finish off points on the net. However, an all and all good week from her and I'm already excited for the clay season. :)

Well suddenly a tournament you thought would be un-winnable for Wozniacki when Victoria and Petra were in the draw has turned to be a glorified MM (?) I hope Julia will do something about it and restore the status of this what once was is still regardless a beautiful tournament.

As for the match Halep in the second set showed signs that if she had been 100% at least take the 2nd set and the win unfortunately wasn't the case.

it was an overall nice match to watch, Caro has been pretty solid and also found her backhand back. Simo looked good and played some great shots and showed a great variety

Try to copy her game? Be serious. Wozniacki's game style is disgusting. Halep isn't a good player overall, but her forehand is amazing, Wozniacki doesn't even got a forehand. She is just defending. Look on the stats to see who attacked more.

At the time break after she won against service for 2-3 in second set Simona said for herself "nu mai pot!" namely "I can not anymore" .

 No improvement from Wozniacki, that's a given. Even the diminutive Halep was able to blast through Wozniacki at times. One can only wonder what the big gunners like Kvitova will do to her :sobbing:

Please be more aggressive Caroline :wavey:

Yeah, I heard that as well and she was once again heavily taped. This is worrysome. I guess the last time I have seen her tape free was somewhere in the middle of last year...

So? That is normal. You didn't watched the match. Halep's forehand is better than all Wozniacki weapons (if he has weapons). But, Simona has no power in her game, plus she was tired after her fifth day on the court and having Wozniacki defending and just defending, it isn't very easy to win points with winners. I know understand why Wozniacki is hated, her game style is really pathetic.

Hitting 32 errors is somehow more impressive than hitting 10 winners? This board and its logic and understanding of tennis is entirely laughable

Nothing really to add, routine win that makes through early rounds. She is working wih things she already had, more or less success.
But when Halep is literally out of town and Caro´s "winner" lands on service line... no wonder it doesnt work.

10 winners against a player ranked outside the top 50. I hardly think "Crushed" is an appropriate word.

Same old story. Halep hit a lot of good shots, but remained rooted to the baseline instead of coming into the net to deal with the easy putaway. Hence the point starts again and usually she'd make an error...

Beyond a total joke how common this pattern is in both the men's and women's game. Please, please will someone teach the next generation of players how to come into the net and volley.

I saw Halep beat Sveta when she was trying to close to the net early in points last summer.

Crushed?! Did you watch the game? Simona could easily have won the 2nd set, as they were breaking each other's serve till the end. And with a 3rd set, who knows what could happen?

It was. Simona squandered some opportunities others won't.

Caroline seemed such a nice girl in her interview with Muttonaslamb Croft and said some nice things about Ana, but for heavens sake sort out that forehand and DEVELOP. There is a slam champ in there, she just needs a good coach to get her to release it.

I give Simona one year. If she works this year properly in next year she will dismissed Caroline with EASE.

Unless Caroline finally finds something new in her game than pushing (even Piotr during coaching told her to push more).

It doesnt matter what dad's advice is. Caroline knows how to play. No one won as many matches as she did the last 2 years.
After that loss with 3 match points, to Safarova, its supposed to be over? Maybe not. We'll see as this year goes on.

Pushniacki is so bad at volleying I just noticed that today. There was one in particular, her movement is so bad, it's like she's never been taught how to volley.

Indeed. And because of her position in the WTA's entry system, Halep wasn't even seeded to make it through the qualifying rounds. :hatoff:

She's not a bad volleyer and 9 times out of 10 she makes that one she missed. She doesn't go to the net much but that was the only one she messed up and I was surprised actually that she missed that one and she'd played such a good point until then. I think the commentators said that until then she'd won 8 out of 10 times she went to the net.

Yeah "crushed" is definitelly not the word I'd use for that match. But she did pick up a nice win :D.

Caroline's success ratio when coming in does/will depend more on the quality of her approach shots than on her skills as a volleyer. That goes for many players today actually.

^That's one of her problems really. When she comes in on a backhand, she has the chance to play a decent volley. But the forehand approach shot sits up way to high.

Often that's the case, yes. I agree.

Wozniacki played well, but I think Simona was a bit tired of playing 5 matches in 5 days, and 'crushed' is now way the right word for what happened yesterday.
