Curcubeu Feb 21st, 2012, 02:08 PM Well done, Simona! 6 games in a row to win the match! :) Nastya's serve is still a mess. She DFed less than Simona today, but it's clearly visible that she is not going for her 1st serves. In the 1st set, half of her 2nd serves were DF... Only won 4/17 points on her second as well. I only hope she can find back her form, it's sad to see her decreasing like that. I hope Simona can make it competitive against Wozniacki who obviously isn't comfortable in windy conditions. Setsuna. Feb 21st, 2012, 03:00 PM That's funny because I've lost count of the number of times I've read in here that she's the most talented of her generation. Which doen't even conflict with what you said. You acknowledged that she had a shitload of potential, just like most people do. I don't see it go much further. It really is all she has going for her ATM because everyone acknowledges that she hasn't made things happen for herself. The potential is there, the realisation isn't; that's why everyone laments the fact that she's a disappointment and should be achieving more. (Potentially) 2nd-most talented of her generation behind Kvitova, and most potential for clay :bigwave: The only hope is this horrible run of form is finally the wake-up call she needs. The last couple of years have kind of been the worst possible situation for her: she's been kind of coasting along doing decently without working hard, which means she's both been underperforming AND she's got into her head that she can atleast get by with minimal effort, plus the thought that all the other young players were at the same sort of level as her so she had plenty of time. Hopefully the last few weeks have made her realise that she needs to up her work ethic if she wants to get results, because that's what Generation Suck is doing (including even Halep seemingly) and she's suddenly in danger of being left behind. Jane Lane Feb 21st, 2012, 03:13 PM I just don't see Slam winning potential in Nastya, I'm sorry. You can have all the ballstriking talent in the world and it means nothing if you don't work to improve your weaknesses. hankqq Feb 21st, 2012, 03:19 PM While she's obviously in a slump and not playing her best at the moment, I always viewed Pavlyuchenkova as the kind of player who should win a bunch of smaller titles and routinely lose in the rd16 or rd32 of slams but nothing more. She only made the quarters of Roland Garros. and the USO. borrowedheaven Feb 21st, 2012, 03:24 PM But she's still very young, so she can improve them. If she gets fit and is fully commited, I think she will be a force to be reckoned with in Slams, definitely RG. I think it's too early to tell wether she's gonna fulfill her potential of not, but she needs to change some things. And get a decent coach. NeKo Feb 21st, 2012, 03:25 PM Now please beat Wozniacki ! Great timing and natural power, more than enough to hit through players (especially on slower surfaces where she has the time to set up), and actually she's not a bad defensive player even as it is (she has good anticipation and court sense). Plus, although her work ethic is terrible, she does have decent mental toughness when she actually puts her mind to it (exhibit A being her US Open match against Schiavone last year). Like I said, potential is no guarantee of anything, and if she doesn't pick up her work ethic she's never going to get close -- but are you really saying she doesn't have more potential from a technical standpoint than the likes of Wozniacki or Radwanska? Juju Nostalgique Feb 21st, 2012, 04:45 PM  :oh: iPatty Feb 21st, 2012, 05:29 PM Simona :worship: If she keeps this form up the clay season will be very good to her.
