View Full Version : Erika Hendsel

Feb 21st, 2012, 11:15 AM
A potentially very good junior, reaching the top 15 in the 14U European ranks and having some success on the junior circuit. After her first professional win at SEB Tallink Open VI over Sofia Vaynberg 64 62, it's time she got her own thread. Next she has Cindy Burger, an inform dutchwoman who beat Fes quarterfinalist Nadia Lalami 61 60!!!! Give it all youve got Erika!!!!! :cheer:

Feb 21st, 2012, 11:20 AM
Did any of the Estonians go to SEB Tallink Open V or plan to go to VI?

Feb 25th, 2012, 04:14 AM
Good luck to Erika and Elisa Mai in their semis. Hope they can make the finals. :)

Feb 25th, 2012, 06:10 AM
Erika is entered to play singles at Kramfors Junior Challenge (indoor clay, not indoor hard) so hopefully she can get her ranking up. To get into top 600 she needs 18.75 ranking points, meaning she only has to make the semis in singles. Good luck Erika.
Does anyone know if she plans to keep on pllaying 16s?

Feb 26th, 2012, 12:43 AM
Sadly Erika lost, but good luck tomorrow as top seed in 16u falconet cup tallinn

Feb 27th, 2012, 11:37 AM
(1) Erika Hendsel vs Anna Veinsteina (Q). Hopefully she can breeze through this match.
Dubs with Greta Kerezaite as top seeds

Feb 28th, 2012, 04:54 AM
Erika won 60 64!!!!! Next round she has a lithuanian qualifier

Mar 1st, 2012, 12:13 PM

Erika beat Kerezait 67 76 amd wins the title :)
Hopefully she can continue this form into kramfors

Mar 4th, 2012, 06:19 AM
I mean 64 76

Erika is also the 6 seed for Kramfors junior challenge on indoor clay. Hope she can break top 600!!! :)

Mar 4th, 2012, 08:50 AM
Great to see that both Erika and Kenneth won :)

Mar 4th, 2012, 10:19 AM
yeah. Kenneth is definately Estonias best hope in a long time. Really since Poldma in the mens

Mar 9th, 2012, 11:52 AM
Erika is 5th seed in probably the weakest G4 of all time. A win would be great!!!
She is also the top seed in qualifying for Malta tournament (http://beta.itftennis.com/juniors/tournaments/tournament/info.aspx?tournamentid=1100025801)
and second seed in qualifying for turkey tournament(http://beta.itftennis.com/juniors/tournaments/tournament/info.aspx?tournamentid=1100025800) on at same time. It would be great if she could play Australian Open or Roland Garros qualies yt next year :)

Mar 10th, 2012, 06:08 AM
Erika is now first alternate in Turkey G4 and LDA at Malta G4

Mar 10th, 2012, 07:51 AM
Great to see Erika getting more involved on the junior tour now, will be interesting to follow her results. I suspect she will soon overtake Tatjana in the rankings.

Mar 10th, 2012, 08:02 AM
Great to see Erika getting more involved on the junior tour now, will be interesting to follow her results. I suspect she will soon overtake Tatjana in the rankings.

she seems to be better
She is estonias next big hope, in my opinion. She just needs to grow. I believe that she is a little worse than anett when anett was her age

Mar 11th, 2012, 11:50 AM
Erika has withdrawn from Turkey G4.
She has Malta G4 as her 1st preference and hasnt withdrawn, so hopefully she will play there :)
Her tournament in Sweden starts tomorrow but for some reason the draw hasnt been released
Come on Erika, Win :cheer: :yeah:

Mar 12th, 2012, 12:45 PM
Erikas first match is against Maja Ornberg of Sweden.
Good luck!!!!! :cheer:
BTW, her draw doesnt seem to hard which is good.
Also, Erika will probably play Malta G5 after Malta G4, which will get her some good ranking points. Top 600, here we come :)

Mar 12th, 2012, 09:01 PM
The first round:
Erika HENDSEL (EST) [6] def. Maja ORNBERG (SWE) 6-1 7-5

Next up another Swede, a wildcard.

Mar 12th, 2012, 09:08 PM
GGo Erika!!! :) :cheer: :yeah:

Mar 12th, 2012, 10:36 PM
Well done, now get more wins :yeah:

Mar 13th, 2012, 05:57 AM
She is in dubs with betty alander against 2 other swedes :)
If they win though they have to play the top seeds

Mar 13th, 2012, 09:13 AM
Erika is an hour into her match according to the swedish tennis association order of play
Hopefully she wins through :)

Mar 13th, 2012, 11:02 AM
Erika won 61 62!!!!! A great win
Instead of looking at the ITF Juniors, from now on look at these pages because they are regularly updates

Mar 13th, 2012, 11:11 AM
Next Fanny Ostlund ranked 1238!!!!! Good Luck Erika :cheer:
The top 600 is very much in reach
She needs just to win her next singles match. If she wins the singles tournament, which is not out of the question (it would be funny if she won a G4 before Eva :haha:) she will be at approximate 490 and if she wins singles and dubs she will be at approximately 450 :)
If she loses first round dubs and quarters singles (which is if she loses her next 2 matches) she will be at approximately 630

Mar 13th, 2012, 04:29 PM
Great! Hopefully she'll get some more wins here. Currently it is quite easy for her to move higher in the rankings as she has some zeros among the best X results that count in both singles and doubles.

Mar 14th, 2012, 08:59 AM
Erika and Betty won 62 61, a great tournament so far for Erika compared to Tatjas
Go Erika :cheer:
She is first on the main court (court 7) vs fanny ostlund with a 9 15 start (its 8:58)
Good Luck :)
Also dubs not before 1 oclock and suitable rest
Good Luck Erika :) :cheer: :yeah:

Mar 14th, 2012, 11:08 AM
I know a womens forum but Well DOne Kenneth!!!!! :cheer:

Mar 14th, 2012, 11:12 AM
Did Erika just lose 06 36?

Mar 14th, 2012, 11:38 AM
I dont know?? Nothing is written on the swedish website. Whats your source??

Mar 14th, 2012, 11:41 AM
No I just saw it!!!
Erika Won 60 63!!!!! :)
Keep it up girl :cheer: :yeah: :) :D
She is dominating
She has a good shot at the final as next she had 8 seed. Although the 8 seed did just beat no. 1 seed 61 61 :scared:
Erika must really like clay compared to hard
Anyway, good luck in dubs erika vs top seeds
Top 500 here we come :)

Mar 14th, 2012, 11:41 AM

Oh, now they turned it around. Before it was Erika's name on the right side, now it is displayed on the left.

Great, so it was the other way round afterall! :)
So next up seed no 8 if we can believe what is shown there.

Mar 14th, 2012, 11:52 AM
This is a great result from Erika. She has a shot at making australian open qualies next year if she can keep on improving. Also if she goes and tournament whores at GA Mexico (there were not enough entrants for qualies :oh:) where she would almost make the quarters :)
Good luck for dubs :)

Mar 14th, 2012, 09:30 PM
Unfortunately erika and betty lost dubs 75 60 :(
Anyway, a great performance so far this week and they were competitive in the first :)
Semis here we come :cheer:
this is thursdays schedule
Erika first on the second court

Mar 15th, 2012, 11:55 AM
They still havent put up the results of erikas matches even though it started almost 2 hours ago
BTW, she is 42 direct acceptance for G4 Malta (quite strong field) and 23 for G5 :)

Mar 15th, 2012, 01:34 PM
Scores still not up and it started 4 hours ago
I will have to go to bed soon :scared:. Its 11:30 our time

Mar 15th, 2012, 01:38 PM
Erika Won!!!!!!!!
16 75 64!! :cheer:
Great Job Erika. A real hope for the future :)
She might have saved match points which would have been a great achievement. I wished that she updated her vimeo account :(
Anyway, an amazing result that will comfortably put her in top 600 :)
Next 5 seed Marfutina, a straight sets winner. Hopefully erika can oull through and get her 1st title :)

Mar 15th, 2012, 01:39 PM
There is 1 picture there of the indoor clay courts :)

Mar 15th, 2012, 01:46 PM
Finishing top 250 should be Erikas goal for the year

Mar 15th, 2012, 11:12 PM
Good job Erika, now win the title :cheer:

Mar 16th, 2012, 01:49 AM
Erika 1st match on court 8 starting at 10:00. I might not be able to see the scores before I go to bed :(

Mar 16th, 2012, 07:23 AM
Well done, Erika! First G4 final, hope she can take the title now. Anyway she has already gained about 200 places in the rankings, going from the current 745 to at least 550 or so.

Mar 16th, 2012, 11:51 AM
Unfortunately Erika lost 3:6 3:6
Reaching a final is a good result anyway!

Mar 16th, 2012, 11:52 AM
Maria Marfutina(5) ef. Erika Hendsel (6) 63 63
Erika Lost
Its a shame but still a very good performance
What is it with estonians being chokers. Vorobjova couldnt win aotk twiga, eva couldnt win 1 of 2 g4s against worse opponents, erika couldnt win this or g5 (although she did have parazinskaite then), even kaia until recently. Anetts been the only one to take her opportunities (fed cup, orange bowl, 4 ITFs, Thailand, euro championships etc.)

Mar 21st, 2012, 08:00 AM
Erika is 19 Player for G5 Malta and 20 player for G4 Malta starting monday week. She pulled out of 3 tournaments for the 16 April (Bosnia, Bulgaria, Great Britain)

Mar 25th, 2012, 05:19 AM
Erika up at 16 seed for G5!!!!
Still at 19 for G$ so hope she gets seeded :)
Also Career high for Erika at 544 (a huge 201 place skyrocket) :)

Apr 1st, 2012, 10:47 PM
Erika is the 11th seed. First round she has to play haterzyna pyka of poland (792 in juniors but got all her points from winning a G5 in algeria)

Apr 2nd, 2012, 09:37 PM
Erika won 61 64!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Erika :cheer:
Next she has Italian Lucky Loser Giulia Asserto
BTW, she is playing doubles with maria MArfutina (the girl who beat her in Kramfors) and they are 5th seeds. They have 2 russian sisters first round

Apr 3rd, 2012, 10:16 PM
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
75 62 Was the score. The only problem, is all of her matches seem to be close :scared:
Next unseeded Pribylova in singles (who she beat in doubles) and 2 italians in doubles

Apr 4th, 2012, 11:38 AM
Erika :) With these two singles wins she has already gained 10p (maybe also a bit from doubles, did not look that up) and climbs into top 500. Let's hope she gets to play some more matches.

Apr 4th, 2012, 12:43 PM
Erika :) With these two singles wins she has already gained 10p (maybe also a bit from doubles, did not look that up) and climbs into top 500. Let's hope she gets to play some more matches.

She has a G5 Next week and then a G4 in either Bulgaria or Ukraine
Even though I think that worers are the worst example for tennis in the worl, I think that maybe she should try and get a GA in by next years Australian Open. If she keeps this up, she will be top 250 by the end of the year :)
Thats almost as good as anett

Apr 4th, 2012, 05:30 PM
Erika HENDSEL (EST) [11] 6-2 6-3 Anastasia PRIBYLOVA (RUS)

Has to face her doubles partner and last tournament's final opponent Marfutina in the QF. Hopefully she will get a revenge this time :) Also, in doubles they have moved on to the QF by a tough win 7-6(4) 7-6(3)

Apr 4th, 2012, 10:40 PM
YEAH!!!!!!!!! :cheer:
Its sad she has to meet marfutina. It would have been nice if they could have played in the final or something

Apr 5th, 2012, 03:54 PM
MARIA MARFUTINA (RUS) [4] 4-6 6-2 6-0 Erika HENDSEL (EST) [11]

:( Closer than the last time, too bad about the bagel.
Doubles result is not out yet.

Apr 5th, 2012, 11:49 PM
At least there were no hard feelings as her and marfutina won 76 76 :)
This is turning into a punchbag :scared:

Apr 6th, 2012, 09:23 PM
Erika has reached the final in doubles!! Good luck!

Apr 7th, 2012, 01:55 PM
Erika HENDSEL (EST) / MARIA MARFUTINA (RUS) [5] 6-0 5-7 [10-4] Anna BROGAN (GBR) / Lana RUSH (GBR) [6]

Well done!

Apr 7th, 2012, 04:13 PM
Good job :yeah:

Apr 8th, 2012, 01:57 PM
Great result!!! She will hopefully be a top 4 seed in g5
Her and marIa have a great shot at another title. MarIa is obviously a good player, 2 g4 finals in a row!!!

Apr 8th, 2012, 07:57 PM
Erika plays G5 in Malta, has a bye to the second round as she is the 4th seed. Has to play Marfutina again in semis (assuming they both make it that far). Quite likely they play doubles also, but the draw is not out yet.

Apr 9th, 2012, 01:19 AM
She has a good draw. She should make the semis and the winner of her and maria will win IMO. No one who can really beat her before maria.
Her and maria should romp the doubles title

Apr 10th, 2012, 02:32 AM
Erika will face Ardeleanu

She is second seeds in doubles with Maria Marfutina and they have a bye

Apr 10th, 2012, 03:19 PM
Erika has gone up 114 places in the ranking to 432.

Apr 10th, 2012, 06:34 PM

Apr 11th, 2012, 01:27 AM
Next she has unseeded mociola
Hope she can make the quarters

Her ranking is really shooting up. If they can win the title here again and she can either make the semis or win, then she will be top 400 very soon

Apr 11th, 2012, 02:17 AM
Marias ranking is nearly as high as Evas!!!!

Also, Erikas first preference for the week starting 7 may is G4 Turkey, and second preference is G2 Austria

Apr 11th, 2012, 03:22 PM
[4]Erika Hendsel def. Silvia Mocciola 62 61!!!!
Erika is just getting better and better
[2]Maria Marfutina def. [15] Lisa Ponomar 75 61
Maria obviously doesnt like the hardcourts as much, which is good for Erika because she obviously does like the hardcourts given her scorelines!!!!
Anyway, many players are doubling up as I guess there was rain yesterday so dubs will be played today it seems vs Krivolapova and Tinello who won a tight match 75 76(6) so they may be tired, which would help Erika and Marias case even more

If Erika wins singles and doubles which is turning into a possibility, she will gain 35 ranking points (I cant believe you get 30 for winning G5 an you only get 20 for winning doubles, which is then divided by 4!!!!!) which would put her up to approximately 315, higher than Tatja!!!! I think that she should play at least 2 G2s, 1 G1s and 1 GA this year even if it is whoring points in Osaka or Abierto Jiuvenil

Apr 11th, 2012, 03:50 PM

Time to play some stronger tournaments soon also I think. Actually, she was on the list of a G3 in Ukraine if I remember correctly.

Apr 11th, 2012, 04:02 PM

Time to play some stronger tournaments soon also I think. Actually, she was on the list of a G3 in Ukraine if I remember correctly.

She pulled out of that and G3 Bularia. She would have only gotten a weeks rest. I hope she plays the G2 in Austria as a trial instead of G4 in Turkey. Maria is in both so hopefully they can continue their doubles partnership.

Apr 12th, 2012, 03:00 PM
[2]Hendsel/Marfutina def. Krivolapova/Tinello 62 61!!! :cheer:
Still unbeaten as a doubles pairing :)

Apr 12th, 2012, 03:01 PM
Claudia CIANCI (POR) 6-4 6-3 Erika HENDSEL (EST) [4]
That was unexpected. :(

Apr 12th, 2012, 03:04 PM
Claudia Cianci def. [4]Erika Hendsel 64 63
I did NOT expect that!
A girl ranked in the 1500s who has only won 1 match in her junior career, defeats our Erika when she has played amazingly recently!!!

Anyway, it might mean she has avoided another loss to Maria, but I thought shed win that match actually, as Maria obviosuly feels less comfortable on the hardcourts. Still, they are alive in doubles :)

Apr 12th, 2012, 03:16 PM
Claudia CIANCI (POR) 6-4 6-3 Erika HENDSEL (EST) [4]
That was unexpected. :(

you beat me :)
But in hindsight, it might just be claudias tournament. She is in semis of dubs, beating top seeds in straight sets in the second round and we often forget erika is just 14. I do think its greak that shes committing to the tour though. By the time she turns 15, her ranking might be better then anetts when she was 15. What was anetts ranking when she was 15???

Apr 12th, 2012, 09:32 PM
Yeah, maybe also Erika is a bit tired, she has played a number of tournaments in a row already. She has a whole year to gain more points :)

I think Anett was around top 100-120 when she turned 15. I started to follow her results more closely after she won that 10k in Tallinn and I remember she was on the verge of top 100 that time. From Anett's thread: posted by Meelis on Feb 28th, 2011 - "She is up 28 places in ranks this week. New career high at #71". That was after the G2 final in Lithuania.

Apr 13th, 2012, 01:30 AM
Anett was #115, when she did turn 15 at the end of the 2010.

Apr 13th, 2012, 03:29 AM
WOW!!!! Anett was really high!!!

Apr 14th, 2012, 06:33 AM
OMG Erika and Maria lost doubles!!!!! Erika must have been injured in her matches vs cianci and here, thats the only explanation for losing to these players!!!
Score= 3-6 6-0 :eek: 10-6

Apr 17th, 2012, 01:02 PM
Erika is at a career high 411 :cheer:
Maria is up to 235!!!! Shes ahead of Eva!!!!

May 15th, 2012, 10:36 PM
Erika has pulled out of Estonian Junior Open

May 16th, 2012, 06:47 AM
Erika has pulled out of Estonian Junior Open

She is pulling out of a lot of tournaments recently. Maybe shes injured :scared:
Shame because she had a real chance of going far :(

May 20th, 2012, 11:17 AM
Erika's next event (if she doesn't pull out of that one) is G4 Gydnia Cup in Poland. Tatja is also playing there so they might play dubs. Is now only 22 places away from Tatja :) (but Tatja has a tournament this week)

Jun 8th, 2012, 01:15 PM
I think Erika may be taking some time off tennis as she has pulled out of the G4 Riga Open
The entry list for AOTK Twiga comes out in 4 days and I don't think she'll be on it
That may not be a bad thing though, as she is only 14 :)

Jun 11th, 2012, 07:32 AM
Erika has not been playing Juniors because she has been playing 16U :)
Last week she played a big tournament in Italy as 4th seed and made the 3rd round
As top seeds she in doubles, her and her partner got a BYE Round 1 but they lost to their first opponents in round 2 :(
This week she is playing the biggest 16s tournament of the year and is again 4th seed
She has a Q/LL first round and then an Italian or another Q/LL :)
Lets hope she can produce something big :)
Erika is also playing the week after in a Category 2 in Italy

Jun 12th, 2012, 09:13 PM
Erika lost in the first round :help:

Jun 13th, 2012, 02:59 AM
6-1 7-6 at that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She really got lucky on those G4s. She obviosuly is no where near as good as we thought she was

Jun 13th, 2012, 08:02 AM
Erika 8 seed at AOTK TwigaCup G4 at Tondiraba :)
4 Estonians in top 470
Bright future :)

Jun 16th, 2012, 05:56 AM
TO make matters worse, Erika lost in the second round in doubles after having a BYE in the first :tape:
Go back to 18s Erika :(

Jun 23rd, 2012, 08:51 AM
Some more mediocre results for Erika but considering her results in the last 2 weeks, I am not too upset. She lost in the QFs of singles to a girl who took a set (6-1) off the top seed and made the SF in doubles before getting smashed by the top seeds :)
Hopefully she does better in 18s :)
IS she playing European Championships 14s or 16s and is she going to play Savitaipale as she could qualify or something better there :)

Jun 30th, 2012, 02:56 PM
Erika and Kenneth part of the Tennis Europe 16U team :)
Here's an article about it :)

Jul 4th, 2012, 02:15 PM
Erika is through to the QF of the European Championships :bounce:
Sadly she will have to face Tatja there, which given the other players in the quarters is a real disappointment :(

Anyway, I hop she can replicate her 2 and 1 victory over Tatja at the Alexela Masters, but that was on her best and Tatja's worst surface

In doubles she is partnering Lisanna Pihlak which could be a very good pairing and they have a nice path to the semis where I expect their run to end against either Matojan/Eklund or the Ilves's

She isn't playing mixed

Anyway, hopefully she can do well here and get her Estonian ranking up, which is really important for Pro Circuit until she gets ranked

Sadly she has a national ranking of 8, in which I believe she should be 5
The problem is they don't use ITF Junior rankings, just pros
So Mari Mahoni, Mia Nicole Eklund and Kadi Ilves are all ahead of her because they play more regional tournaments, despite Mia being more than 200 places below her in the ITF Junior Rankings (although Mia has beaten Erika before and may deserve to be higher, especially on Indoor hard) and Kadi and Mari not having CHs inside the top 1000 places

If she wins this tournament though, she could go up to 5th, but thats if Eva doesn't make the final :)

EDIT: It turns out that Tatja really is Erika's bitch, because their H2H is 5-1 to Erika. The last 3 meetings have been 4 and 0 Erika, 2 and 0 Erika and 2 and 1 Erika, then Tatja won the one before that 4-6 6-4 6-2, then Erika won the others 7-6 6-2 and 6-2 1-6 6-2. Perhaps Tatja's game suits Erika really well as the last 3 have all been since December

Jul 7th, 2012, 01:18 PM
Erika made the Final of the Estonian Championships :cheer:
These were her wins :)
R1: (6) Erika Hendsel def. BYE
R2: (6) Erika Hendsel def. Annemai Mutso 6-0 6-3
QF: (6) Erika Hendsel def. (4) Tatjana Vorobjova 6-4 6-0
SF: (6) Erika Hendsel def. Liisa Pajumets
F: (3) Eva Paalma def. (6) Erika Hendsel 6-2 6-2

A really great tournament and IMO had the harder path to the final :)
A really great win over Tatja, who was the defending champion and coming back from 4-1 down in her SF vs Liisa Pajumets. It's a shame she couldn't win it all but apparently she dropped the ball too short too often and that Eva was agressive and didn't hit very many errors. Hopefully she can carry this momentum into next weeks AOTK Twiga Cup at Tondiraba. Sadly it's on Hard so she will have to adapt to the change in surface quickly :)

Erika also made the SF of the doubles event with Lisanna Pihlak, winning their QF after having a BYE against the Pajumets sisters 2 and 1 before losing to Mia Nicole Eklund and Julia Matojan who had a great tournament 2 and 0 :(

Erika's ranking will now go up to 6 from 8, a nice improvement :)

Jul 18th, 2012, 10:20 AM
Erika unfortunately lost first round at AOTK TwigaCup to a qualifier, but that qualifier was her best friend, who won the tournament and is #15 or so in TE U16 rankings

She made the semis in doubles with Lisanna Pihlak before losing to Iryna again

Sadly she is not playing Savitaipale 10K, but maybe next year she will play some more Pro Circuit events :)

Aug 15th, 2012, 02:53 PM
Become Estonian U16 champion too, beating Vorobjova 63 62 in the final.

Had a relatively trouble free road to the title, except QF where she did beat Jana Kuzovkova 06 62 75

Aug 15th, 2012, 09:46 PM
Well done Erika :cheer:
She seems to be much better than Tatja, or at least knows how to beat her :)
Jana Kuzovkova also seems to be a player of the future :)
I hope she can transition this play onto the Junior Circuit :cheer:

Aug 22nd, 2012, 12:41 PM
It's time to update Erika's results :D
Erika made the semis of the 18s Junior Championships before having to forfeit against Tatja, who went on to win the title :(
Despite this, she destroyed Polina Tsernjak 6-0 6-2 in Round 2 and Lisanna Pihlak 6-1 6-0 in the QFs, which is an especiallygood result. Hopefully she can win a G5 or G4 this year and end the year in the Top 300 :) This is doable as there are 5 tournaments in the Baltic States + Finland to end the year :)

She did not compete in Doubles of any kind :)

She is the 3rd seed for G4 Radenska Cup in Slovenia next week, so hopefully she can have a good showing and push her ranking back into the Top 400 :)

She is unfortunately not on the list for G5 Siauliai where she was a finalist last year, which is bad but also good as it shows her intent to move beyond G5s :D

Aug 27th, 2012, 09:50 PM
Erika is Top Seed at Radenska Open, her first time :D
I really hope she can win :)
It is a 64 Player Draw though, and no BYES so she will have to win more matches, but I can see her doing that :)

Aug 28th, 2012, 09:42 PM
Erika won her First Round 6-1 6-3 :cheer:
Next she has someone who had never won a singles match at ITF level but won 1 Doubles match :)
She is also Top Seed in the Doubles with Knutson where they have a BYE in Rd 1 :)
This move was very smart as this G4 is actually weaker than Tatja's G5

Aug 30th, 2012, 07:57 AM
Day got washed out I think as there was no play

Aug 30th, 2012, 09:47 AM
Day got washed out I think as there was no play

Erika won 61 62 in singles and lost in doubles.

Aug 30th, 2012, 10:39 AM
Thanks :)
Her opponents had to play 2 doubles matches in a day and they still lost
How did you find out???
Was it the website???

Aug 30th, 2012, 09:44 PM
Erika lost to Hana Mraz, a girl who had only won 2 G5 matches and none at G4 level before this tournament 6-4 6-3 :help:
Better luck next tourney :(

Sep 11th, 2012, 12:12 PM
Without me even realising, Erika made the final of a G5 last week in Switzerland in Singles and won the Doubles :D
She lost in the Final 6-7(3) 6-3 6-3
better than her other finals :D

This week she is playing another G5 in Switzerland and is 3rd Seed in Singles and 2nd Seed in Doubles :)
Let's hope she can go one further :D

I hope she can start playing some Pro Events soon as this is when Anett started a few :)

Erika and Kenneth seem to be out best hopes for the future :)

Sep 12th, 2012, 07:56 AM
Erika lost in Rnd 2 after having a BYE in Rnd 1
At least she won doubles
She seems to do better when I don't follow her

Oct 28th, 2012, 03:41 PM
$10,000 Stockholm Q1
Erika Hendsel d. C.L. Melsted 63 62 :yeah:
Melsted is 17 yo, #356 in junior ranks. When I first checked the score, it was 1-3 and 40-40 on Erica's serve. I had to leave and next time she was already leading 63 20, so she won 7 games in a row :)

Next up is Thyra Taune, who is 18 yo, but according to her previous matches, she seems to be very winnable opponent.

Oct 29th, 2012, 08:47 PM
Erika won 6-2 6-1 :D
A great improvement from last week :D
In the 1st round she plays 6th Seed Beatrice Cedermark :) She has nothing to lose so lets hope she can cause the upset :cheer: I think it is doable though as Beatrice lost last week to Klackenburg, Eva's FRQ opponent :D

Anyway, Eva and Erika are both not playing this evening but will play tomorrow :)

Oct 31st, 2012, 05:16 PM
Erika beat the 4th seed Cedermark 46 63 64 :yeah:

Oct 31st, 2012, 09:02 PM
Erika  SO GOOD!!!!
ow she has to beat Saitova and get on that ranking list :yeah:

Oct 31st, 2012, 09:11 PM
She needs to win the tournament to get a ranking.

Nov 1st, 2012, 08:07 AM
She needs to win the tournament to get a ranking.

But Parazinskaite only has 3 points  And Erika has played 3 tourneys

Nov 1st, 2012, 10:16 AM
But Parazinskaite only has 3 points  And Erika has played 3 tourneys

But Erika has not earned any points before this week.

In order to appear on the WTA rankings, players must earn ranking points in at least 3 tournaments, or a
minimum of 10 singles ranking points or 10 doubles ranking points in one or more tournaments.

Nov 1st, 2012, 11:49 AM
But Erika has not earned any points before this week.

Ok, so you need points in 3, not just to play in 3 :) So Eva was 2 points away from a ranking :sobbing:

Jun 16th, 2013, 02:19 PM
Erika almost Qualified for a 25K :) :sobbing:
She won her first match against Gabbi Tepic 3-6 6-3 6-1 and then lost to Beatric Cedermark (a player she beat last year in Stockholm) 6-2 4-6 6-3 :(

It was a weak 25K, especially for a Swedish one (Ystad) but she really could/should have qualified :) :(

I really hope she can do well next week in Kristinehamm

If she had qualified she would have gotten 2 points and put her 1 tournament closer to a ranking... If she had gotten a random Swedish WC and won she would have had a Top 1000 (maybe 900) ranking :sobbing:

Sep 17th, 2013, 05:59 PM
Erika beat Miriam Ruth Lane 63 46 61 in Sharm El Sheikh 10K :yeah:
Lane is an useless player, but it is always good to get a win in MD.

Sep 17th, 2013, 06:20 PM
Good to hear that she is playing again. There was a long break at the beginning of this year..

Sep 18th, 2013, 02:58 AM
YAY :cheer:
She seems to have digressed a little though, I mean in Estonian Junior Championships she lsot to Birgit 0 and 1 :help:
Still, it's good to see she is somewhat back on track and lets see if she can give Mikheeva a scare :D

BTW, why is Sharm El Shekh so ridiculously weak this week  She should have played Alger :oh:

Sep 18th, 2013, 05:58 PM
Good news, Mikheeva gave a walkover and Erika plays local 15yo player in R2. Good chance for QF here :cheer:
She also won 60 62 in doubles yesterday.

Sep 19th, 2013, 05:24 AM
Good news, Mikheeva gave a walkover and Erika plays local 15yo player in R2. Good chance for QF here :cheer:
She also won 60 62 in doubles yesterday.

This girl is actually not that bad so it could be a struggle for Erika but lets hope she can get the win :)

Sep 19th, 2013, 09:17 PM
67(4) 62 63 and Erika is in her first QF :cheer:

Plays another local player, 26yo Ola Abou Zekry (UNR) for a place in the semis.

Sep 19th, 2013, 09:22 PM
This is getting ridiculous though :haha:
Still, this girl again IMO will be a challenge so lets hope Erika can get through :cheer: 6 Points up for grabs :inlove:

Sep 20th, 2013, 05:50 PM
Lost 46 67(5)
I couldn't follow much but she started the match good, got a 2*-0 lead, had several game points for 3-0 but still got broken. She also got 2*-0 lead in the 2nd set. In the end Erika had 5*-3 30-0, later even a SP (or maybe 2?) but Chokestonia showed up again

Anyway, QF is a good result, GL next week.

Sep 20th, 2013, 08:00 PM
Omg, when I looked, she was leading 50 in the 2nd :help:

Sep 20th, 2013, 09:13 PM
OMG :help: I left when she only had 3-0.

Seriously, is there a competition between Estonian players about who can blow the biggest lead :o

Sep 21st, 2013, 04:14 AM
OMG :help: :hysteric:
Still, not as bad as Eva vs Karen :D Or Anett vs Adamczak :D Or Kaia vs Kvitova
Still, I don't get why all Estonians a re chokes :sobbing: Kaia is less now so maybe it's an age thing :(

Sep 24th, 2013, 01:26 PM
Erika's going to get a ranking :cheer:
In the 1st Round in Sharm El Sheikh she plays unranked Ashmitha Easwaramurthi, a 24 Year Old Indian Journeywoman who literally wins no matches except a Double Bagel against a Tunisian who Erika wouldn't lose a point to :D I hope I don't Jinx it :scared:
And she will come in with 6 Points :D Higher than Eva :haha: Still, I can't believe she got a 10K QF without playing a ranked player and she should have gotten a SF :oh: Nice to see 4 Estonians with Rankings now :) I am also going to make a thread for Estonian Boys and Men as they are doing well now :)

Sep 25th, 2013, 07:10 PM
Erika won 64 62 :)
Ranking, here she comes :drive:
Try to win some games against Soylu now :cheer:

Sep 25th, 2013, 07:27 PM
The last score I saw was 64 40, great that she didn't choke it off this time :oh:
Soylu will be tough.

Sep 26th, 2013, 01:05 AM
I think she can win some games against Soylu but not the match :(
She also almost made a Doubles Semi, losing 2-6 6-4 10-8 :sobbing:
Anyway, if she could get another QF that would be amazing but this has been a solid result for her talent level :)

Sep 26th, 2013, 03:39 PM
Erika has started against Soylu and isn't doing too badly but she is really struggling on serve
She has not held yet and because she got off to a bad start, although she is holding her own now she is behind on the scoreboard :(
Also stuffing up a few Deuce points but she has still broken Soylu's last 2 service games and is 2/2 on BPs :oh:
Anyway, break now :cheer:
It's 5*-2 Soylu in the 1st BTW

Just a musing, but I really am still curious how she did so well vs Marcinkevica  I mean she must have played amazingly even if Diana was crap :D She just needs to work on her Depth and she will be getting more ranking points :) LOL at the fact she's higher than Eva :oh: And she could be even higher :sobbing:

EDIT: 2 More BPs for 5-3* :)
Chokes 1st and the 2nd :haha: The true Estonian is coming out
A Double Fault and another BP: Only way she was going to get one :D
And she loses it again :help:
Now Set Point and because Ipek isn't Estonian has a Brain/Head she takes the 1st opportunity and wins the set  :hysteric: :help: :spit: Thank god this is Erika and not Anett/Kaia :oh:

Sep 27th, 2013, 05:55 AM
Erika lost 6-2 6-1
It was definitely closer in the 1st Set and in the 2nd she had 3 BPs which she didn't take in 2 games and had a few GPs on serve but obviously the experience of Ipek paid off :( Still, Erika won 40 Points and Ipek won 66 so in that sense it was much closer  That's more a 3 and 2 or 3 and 3 scoreline :( Anyway, let's hope she can do better next week and take advantage of her ranking :D

Oct 1st, 2013, 04:36 AM
Erika once again gets an easy draw against Chiara Volejnicek  And then 8th seeded Deigman :D
She may even make Top 1000 soon

Oct 1st, 2013, 02:58 PM
Erika lost 6-3 4-6 6-3
Didn't see the match but 6/18 BP is beyond atrocious choking :hysteric:

BTW, why don't players like Birgit play these tournaments  If Erika can win a round, she easily can   :)

Oct 28th, 2013, 12:42 PM
Retired in Stockholm qualifying and will lose the ranking for now.

Oct 28th, 2013, 09:12 PM
Retired in Stockholm qualifying and will lose the ranking for now.

IK sucks but she never really deserved it anyway

May 3rd, 2014, 12:32 PM
Watched ITF livescore site and randomly saw Erika playing in Bastad 10K qualies. She was leading 3-1 in the final set. She ended up losing 46 62 36 :tape:

Jul 2nd, 2014, 07:14 AM
Erika is playing 10K Sharm El Sheikh :) If she wins her 1st round she'll get her ranking back :yeah: :)
She is playing the Indian WC who she beat last year on her to the QF so she should win again :)

Jul 3rd, 2014, 09:22 AM
Erika won through 7-5 3-6 6-4 :cheer: I don't care how shit her opponent is

BTW, their matches are on ridiculously late  1st matches on at 20:00, last matches don't start before 23:00  Hopefully Erika can win through to the Quarters although I doubt she will  :)

And she has her ranking back :yeah:

Jul 3rd, 2014, 10:24 AM
BTW, their matches are on ridiculously late  1st matches on at 20:00, last matches don't start before 23:00

Ridiculous would be to play in daytime when it's 45°C.

Jul 3rd, 2014, 11:02 AM
Ridiculous would be to play in daytime when it's 45°C.

Why don't they play early morning. Or play at like 4 PM when it would be cooler for sure. What are the night temperatures out of curiosity?

It's also ridiculous IMO that they host throughout the whole year  What are the temperatures like in Winter  And it is so hot consistently, I am a little gob smacked  What do the girls do during the day...

Jul 3rd, 2014, 11:29 AM

How early? 6am?

Today's prediction

Winters are pleasant. ~16-20°C

Jul 3rd, 2014, 11:55 AM
That is actually insane... And why is it hotter at 11 than 8  Some of the European Girls must get a shock :haha: I still don't think they should be allowed to run that late so if they have to they should just not have tournaments.

Jul 20th, 2014, 04:30 PM
Also, it's a Ramadan month, so nothing happens during the day.

Jul 20th, 2014, 09:38 PM
I see. Is she playing 18U European Championships?

Jul 20th, 2014, 09:46 PM
Is she playing 18U European Championships?

Jul 21st, 2014, 06:43 AM

Where is she then. I saw she was on the Tallinn entry list but she's not playing there either

Aug 20th, 2014, 11:38 AM
Don't know if I should laugh or cry...
Erika played in Bucharest 10K this week. She lost in FQR to an unranked 17yo German (who is also UNR in juniors) but she made it to MD as LL. Her opponent in R1 was an UNR (in both pros and juniors) 14yo local WC Tatarus.
Erika lost 06 06 :help: , she won 14 points, no deuce games and she lost 16 points in a row :o And also, that German girl who beat her in Q also lost 06 06 in R1 :oh:

Aug 20th, 2014, 11:52 AM
I swear she as better when she was 12...

Oct 25th, 2014, 08:48 PM
Erika has become so useless, she played Sharm El Sheikh 10K Q last week and lost 16 06 to Elke Tiel and this week in 25K Q she lost 06 16 to Eden D'Olivera, both are unranked. She is becoming the next Annely Pokras  :help:

Oct 26th, 2014, 01:07 AM

HAHA
It's so weird and sad :(
Unless she has some form of long term injury, it is really quite unacceptable to be playing worse as a 17 Year Old than when you were 14...

Oct 31st, 2014, 07:34 PM
She tries another SES 25K Q. This time she plays against Janina Geiss. Geiss is so bad, she has lost all her 13 matches she has played in her "career", getting bagelled or even double bagelled in most of her matches.
If she loses this match :tape:

Nov 1st, 2014, 09:41 PM
46 63 61
Losing a set to this bagel girl :o At least she won. Now try to win a few games against Lekaj

Nov 2nd, 2014, 01:21 AM
I expect a double bagel

Jan 31st, 2015, 02:52 PM
Just to show how she has fallen, she barely got past Anette Mäelt in 3 and then lost to Birgit Burk :help:
