Naiktha Bains - DOB: 17/12/1997 - is playing her first senior tournament this week: a $25K in Mildura, Victoria (Australia).

Amazingly, she has qualified, beating two WTA-ranked players:

Q1: def. [16]Alison Bai (AUS) (WTA #686) 6-3 4-6 7-5
Q2: def. Joanne Karaitaina (AUS) 6-4 6-1
Q3: def. [5]Chiaki Okadaue (JPN) (WTA #467) 6-4 6-4

Her next match:

R1: v. [q]Lesley Kerkhova (NED) (WTA #412)

Very promising debut for Naiktha. With 15yo, Ash Barty winning a very competitive $25K last week in Sydney, Aussie tennis is looking better than has in a long time! :)

More like the girl that was shunned by Britain.

Naiktha. :yeah: Great debut for her. She has a great forehand that is going to take her places. Australian tennis definitely has some good players coming up at the moment.

She's a good prospect. She wasn't shunned, that was just sensionalism from the press her and her dad to get a bit of attention.

He's also on record as being clear that his daughter would play for whichever country gave her the most money. Which is why she plays for Australia.
