She mentioned getting engaged to her girlfriend in her blog: http://meganmoultonlevy.blogspot.com

Good for her on having the courage to be open about it. Not too many pro athletes do :)

I don't really want everyone to brazenly flaunt their private life unnecessarily, but it's a shame that it seems to be only the women brave enough to come out.

I think it's very commendable on Megan's part. Tennis and sport in general needs more of the same. It still amazes me how tentative these revelations are, and how much world sport represses homosexuality, especially when it comes to gay men.

Agreed. I also think it's because on the women's tour, no one really cares. Rennae Stubbs has said that she didn't receive any negative comments from players when she came out. Meanwhile, there was a story on a challenger scrub (Francesco Rodriguez) on the men's side who came out years after he retired, where he said there are players on the men's tour who genuinely believe you can get AIDS from sitting on a toilet seat.

Cool!
She is such a nice lady! She talked to be for 15 minutes in Quebec City once! Hope she has a great year in dubs!

I used to read her blog a while ago, she's definitely one of the smartest girls on tour.

Wouldn't be surprised if guys like Tipsarevic believed shit like that.

[edit] :haha: Someone beat me to the comment.

I remember reading a blog entry of hers about breaking up with her long-time girlfriend like, years ago, so this is no news.

Question, are there any officially out male tennis players?

Nobody has come out while they were in tour, but Jan-Michael Gambill has, albeit not as a public announcement, lived an openly gay lifestyle since retiring. He casually dated a friend of mine at one point.
