New York: Spanish tennis player Regla Torres said in an interview today that she is considering taking up citizenship in another country after the Spanish Tennis Federation failed to support her in the latest Fed Cup tie.

"I'm disappointed," she said. "I was the team captain in the only year we won. I know it's been quite a few years but I guess things have changed. In my days as team captain, we picked players on their ability not on personal differences."

Torres was shockingly dropped from the team by captain Vittoria Perez despite being the second ranked singles player available for play and despite being the most experienced player on clay, the surface of the tie.

"I'm not someone who bears grudges. I'm also not someone who will pick players for personal reasons than for the team. And I think that's why it's best that I'm not on the same team with her (Perez). Because if the shoe is on the other foot, I will not sink that low," Torres said.

Despite a lacklustre first half to 2011, Torres is now only seven places behind Perez in FWTT rankings. "Oh I'm confident, I'll be ranked higher than her in no time, it's not that. It's about principles and where my heart is," she said.

She declined to comment on where her next move will be and also on the Fed Cup competition citing that personal reasons have kept her away from following the results.

---London, Great Britain-- As Team Great Britain looks for ways to get back to its status as one of the Tennis powers of the FWTT, they have offered a grant of full citizenship to Regla Torres, as she has been rumored to be shopping around for a new country to represent. The reason why the British believe that this is such a good fit is simply because it would give Regla the opportunity to play for a country that has a history of success as a perennial contender until the retirement of Paula Masterton last year in Fed Cup play. Currently, Great Britain is forced to do battle against the nations of the world with just two players, with Lindsay and Allison Galbraith flying the British Flag alone, which is why the Sisters would welcome a new player to help Team Great Britain reclaim her rightful place as the worlds best Fed Cup Team. Of course, the relationship between Great Britain and Spain is certainly an interesting one, as it appears that they have never played each other in Fed Cup competition, although in one of the resounding defeats in history, the Spanish Armada was shattered by Sir Francis Drake in 1588. I'm pretty sure that there is still some resentment in Spain over how Great Britain managed to defeat the Spaniards largest navy ever. (Do I need to remind Spain that Britannica rules the waves?) Anyway, We believe that with Regla Torres on our side, we can destroy that Spanish Armada as it exists today in the form of Spain's Fed Cup team.

"I think it was a bad decision not to take Regla to this tie. We still won but I think she deserved her place in the team for all the years she has been playing for our country. I hope she reconsiderates her decision and stays with us. She is really apreciated in the country, all my suppourt to her" has realeased Marta Sanchez, who is attending this weeks tournament at Paris.
