View Full Version : Eva Paalma

Dec 17th, 2011, 02:48 AM
With Eva a possible contender for next years Fed Cup, it's time we start paying Estonia's second best junior more attention.

Dec 17th, 2011, 02:51 AM
Does anyone know if she is planning on playing in Australia. Most of the Estonian Newspapers that feature tennis focus on Anett when it comes to Juniors. It might be beneficial if she practised doubles with Anett as there is a chance that they will play together at European Championships. Also, is Mia Nicole Eklund planning on changing her nationality because it could provide a little bit of a boost to Estonian tennis in the future.

How do you know? The list isn't out yet and the entries haven't even closed yet?

Dec 17th, 2011, 11:19 PM
List (http://www.itftennis.com/juniors/tournaments/tournamentacceptancelist.asp?tournament=1100025717&event=1100152137&order=Position&gender=Girls) is out and entries closed earlier this week.

Dec 17th, 2011, 11:25 PM
And yes, she will probably make Fed Cup team again.

But according to the ITF Website, it says the entry deadline is 3 january. Also, can't believe Danka and An Sophie are playing. An Sophie played nothing in 2011

For the usual tournaments. Slams always have earlier deadlines.

I think a good goal for Eva is to be top 100 Juniors by the end of the year and finally win a title. All the up and coming juniors except for anett are mentally weak in that they can't win titles (tatjana at aotk twiga, erika at siauliau and eva at riga and tats). Given that this is probably her last year of juniors, maybe she should start to move onto some 10ks (perhaps 4-8). She should play in Antalya cause she's guaranteed some easy matches

Dec 21st, 2011, 11:52 AM
Everyone visit my pole on who will win Australian Open Juniors and vote for Anett!

Jan 4th, 2012, 06:15 AM
Eva Paalma (3) def. Sandra Ortevall (WC) 60 64
Next match against qualifier Emma Ek so potentially another easy match.

Jan 5th, 2012, 02:52 AM
Eva Paalma (3) def. Emma Ek 63 60
She is now playing a Norweigen qualifier so a semifinal is vey much on the cards
She's also into the semis of doubles
Does anyone have any videos of her playing because I jar only seen her for one serve in a tere tennisekeskus video

Jan 6th, 2012, 01:39 AM
Eva Paalma (3) def. Melanie Stokke 64 16 62
Cabaj Awad/Straume (2) def. Granstrom/Paalma (3) 60 64
Next for Eva is top seed in singles. A G4 Title would be a great start for 2012

Feb 4th, 2012, 01:57 PM
Anett is totally matching it with Kiki
Has held every service game and had 2 break points at 1-1
lets hope she can keep it up
Whether she is as mentally strong as anett is one thing but I hope she doesnt fade away from not taking break point :)

Feb 4th, 2012, 02:02 PM
5-2 Bertens with abreak now. If only eva had taken those earlier break points!!!!!!!!

Feb 4th, 2012, 02:09 PM
First set Bertens 62. After not taking those break points its what I exoected
Still, she surpassed my expectations given its her singles debut!!!:D

Feb 4th, 2012, 02:17 PM
62 20 bertens. Eva cant win big points!!! On every 30-30, game point, break point or deuce point she has lost!!!!!!!!!!

Feb 4th, 2012, 02:21 PM
30 Bertens
More inexperience, losing key points. For a point by point commentary, go to:

Feb 4th, 2012, 02:27 PM
31 Bertens. Eva saves break points and holds!!!

Feb 4th, 2012, 02:28 PM
41 Bertens :( :scared:

Feb 4th, 2012, 02:38 PM
Eva wins after having many game points and saving some break points :cheer:

Feb 4th, 2012, 02:41 PM
62 52 Bertens. A comfortable service game after Eva was 0-15. Hope she can hold one more time :yeah:

Feb 4th, 2012, 02:46 PM
6262 Bertens
A good scoreline for Eva but it really should have been 6464 or even 3 sets
Hopefully anett can get a set off bibiane but thats more hope than realistic prediction

Feb 8th, 2012, 10:37 AM
Eva is due to play in both Tallinn tournaments. You would expect that she would maindraw singles and doubles wildcards into both.

Feb 16th, 2012, 09:58 PM

Short video with her.

Goals for this year is to get a WTA ranking and reach ~ top 100 in juniors.

Feb 17th, 2012, 05:10 AM
Thanks. For a period I stopped searching the papers as there wasnt much there but ill start again soon. She seems like a nice girl. DO you think shell play next week?

Feb 17th, 2012, 08:10 AM
Thanks. For a period I stopped searching the papers as there wasnt much there but ill start again soon. She seems like a nice girl. DO you think shell play next week?

she said that she withdrew cause she didn't want risk. she intends to play next week.

Feb 17th, 2012, 11:52 AM
She hits the ball unbelievably well fro an unranked player and a junior ranked 200. She must lose to pushers cause she has a great agressive game. If she wasnt sick she might have won against piter. She should easily et a ranking this year if she plays some tournaments. Will probs play tampere, savitaipale, some antalya and hopefully tallinn has another tournament later in the year

Feb 21st, 2012, 11:19 AM
A ranking is very possible if she plays some easier 10ks. She should play in Antalya as she can get some good matches there

Feb 21st, 2012, 11:19 AM
Did any of the Estonians go to SEB Tallink Open V or plan to go to VI?

Mar 5th, 2012, 11:46 AM
Eva is the 167 Alternate (LOL) for 10k madrid on indoor clay. It is her first preference :)
Dont see how but hope she can somehow make qualies

Mar 5th, 2012, 11:51 AM
She is also 23 alternate for MAdrid 10k the week before

Mar 6th, 2012, 11:41 AM
It doesnt look like shell make the madrid tournaments which is a shame. Why is she ranked 8 in estonia?? She is defs the 4th best player and probably the 3rd

Mar 6th, 2012, 11:42 AM
Also, why is it that they think Estonias tennis players are so bad that the 8th player from estonia is such a low alternate??

Mar 8th, 2012, 11:27 AM
Eva now at 14th alt. Chance she will make qualies at a pinch Hopefully :)

Mar 8th, 2012, 11:27 AM
Still a very lowly 64 on the next weeks madrid

Mar 10th, 2012, 06:04 AM
Eva playing no juniors
I am really shocked. The entry list for Florence G2 cam out today and shes not playing. Has she given up on juniors, cause shes never going to get into womens events unless she gets a higher national ranking which she gets from playing juniors!!

Mar 21st, 2012, 07:56 AM
Eva has entered a whole lot of Junior Tournaments, obviously preparing for RG :)
9 April: France G2
16 April: Bulgaria G3 (1 Priority), France G2 (2 Priority) and Spain G2 (3 Priority)

Mar 25th, 2012, 05:23 AM
25 Alternate for G2 France (second last direct acceptance in qualies)
8 seed for G3 Bulgaria
2 alternate for Qualies at Spanish G2 (:tape: how are these G2s so strong!!)
12 Alternate for Qualies at French G2 (OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Apr 3rd, 2012, 10:00 AM
Eva defeated Kadi Ilves 61 60!!!!! :cheer:
I didnt think she had improved that much :)

Apr 3rd, 2012, 10:17 AM
Some Photos :):
The Ilves family obviously doesnt like to smile ;)

Apr 19th, 2012, 08:20 AM
Eva lost to Lena Reichel of Austria 63 75!!! Cant believe it
She has dubvs with Tatja as 4th seeds . Its nice they're playing together. I can believe she lost first round at a G3

Apr 20th, 2012, 01:28 PM
Her and tatja just got through, 62 06 10-7
They should be shot :fiery:

Apr 21st, 2012, 01:52 AM
Eva is 137 alternate for Bastad 10K
This field wasnt particularly strong last year
Hopefully a lot of withdrawls
I assume that she will also play the SEB G4 the week before and the 10K after as well. Given that they give indy a WC into Tallinn, I was wondering if she would get a WC into a dutch 10K like almere where anett played last year???

Sadly, her and tatja lost in straight sets 3 and 4 :(

Apr 22nd, 2012, 05:26 PM
If Eva can win G2 Sibiu Medias, she gets WC into MD Bals. If she is runner up, she gets WC into qualies

Apr 26th, 2012, 12:31 PM
Kenana Cup, Bulgaria, G3
R1: Eva PAALMA (EST) [6] 6-2 6-2 Yana PARSHINA (RUS)
R2 against Rebeka STOLMAR (HUN)

Eva was the only player who survived the "Estonian massacre" yesterday... Anett, Tatjana, Zopp, Ivanov and Kerner all lost yesterday :tape:

Apr 26th, 2012, 01:16 PM
Eva was the only player who survived the "Estonian massacre" yesterday... Anett, Tatjana, Zopp, Ivanov and Kerner all lost yesterday :tape:

 It was clearly a very bad day for Estonian tennis indeed. Good for Eva though!

Apr 26th, 2012, 01:56 PM
She is top seed in dubs with ipek soylu. Hopefully she can make a semi, if she can get past this qualifier and perhaps jankovic (who did get bagelled by a bulgarian WC)

Next week, she has a G2 in Romania. Its nice that shes trying some higher ranked events. If she gets a good drawm she might make a quarters or something, which would be some great points

Her goal is to be top 100 by the end of the year, and she is 151.25 points off that. So if she can make a semis in singles, and win doubles, means she is 42.5 points closer, leaving her 108.75 points away from top 100 (rankings will change, so she may need more or less points). If she can then make 2 quarters in Romania G2, she gets 35 points and is 73.75 points away. If she then plays Estonian Open G4 which I think she intends to do because she didnt enter Roland Garros, and she can finally win a title, which she may be able to do, she gets 40 and maybe 5 from doubles, putting her around 50 points away once you include the defended points. Basically, eva has the potential, she just needs to develop some consistency. From the clips I saw of her at SEB Tallink Open V against, Katerzyna Piter,l she hit such an amazing ball, I was shocked she wasnt top 50 Junior!!! As I said, the potentials there as seen by her win over Natalija Kostic at European Summer Cups 18U.

Apr 26th, 2012, 09:03 PM
(Q)Rebeka Stolmar (HUN) d. (6)Eva Paalma (EST) 63 26 63

Now I understand. This must be the "all my faves suck" week. Seriously, So many faves were playing this week (both WTA and ATP, Estonians and others), but none of them did not even get 2 wins in a row (except Zopp). :o

Apr 26th, 2012, 10:04 PM
Eva is seriously going down. she lost 1st round the last week!!!!!!!!

May 1st, 2012, 11:49 AM
Evas opponent first round is a lucky loser which is great but her second round is the third seed :scared:
If she can make the Quarters that would be fantastic, but given her form im not getting my hopes up.
BTW, eva lost first round last week in dohbles as top seed :tape: and the doubles draw isnt out for this week
Her partner last week was singles champion, so either they just teamed badly or eva is really slumping

May 1st, 2012, 10:25 PM
Eva won 61 63
A very nice scoreline. Lets hope she can keep it up against the 3rd seed :)
Eva is playing doubles with latvian laura gulbe and has the 3rd seeds second round

May 8th, 2012, 12:48 PM
Eva mad ethe semis in doubles at the G2 and made second round in singles so she is now up at 259!!! Hope she can continue up and up and hopefully break top 200 soon. This is her best doubles result and her worst counting singles result. She is on the list for the G$ in Tallinn (Clay at Nomme). Hope she can win her first title there. Will any posters be able to watch???

May 19th, 2012, 02:57 AM

Marina Margulis (RUS) v Camilla Negrini (ITA)
(wc)Jessica Pieri (ITA) v Pervinca Curci (ITA)
(16)Violeta Jankovic (SRB) v Cristiana Ferrando (ITA)

First player is unranked and the second is either unranked or out of the top 1000 so it would be disappointing if Eva did not make FQR. Then she would be expected to lose to top seed. Such a shame she had to draw Lottner

May 19th, 2012, 12:36 PM
I expect Eva to play one of the dutch 10ks, given that Indy got Tallinn WC

May 20th, 2012, 03:47 AM
Eva defeated Chiara 63 60 :cheer:
Hopefully she can make FQR and give Antonia a battle. She has a wonderful forehand as shown in her videos against Katerzyna Piter and hopefully she can get it together fpr Juniors, something she's never been able to do :)

May 20th, 2012, 10:21 PM
Sadly Eva lost FQR. She defeated Parmigiani 64 64 but then lost to Lottner 76 63. Not a bad effort given Lottner is top 80 :)
Better luck for either doubles or Estonian Open

Jun 18th, 2012, 10:04 PM
Eva started with a 6-0 6-1 win as top seed :D
Hopefully she can win her first title here :)

Jun 19th, 2012, 07:53 PM
Eva PAALMA (EST) [1] 6-3 6-2 Galina BYKOVA (RUS)

Jun 20th, 2012, 09:53 AM
Eva PAALMA (EST) [1] 6-3 6-2 Galina BYKOVA (RUS)

YAY :cheer:
Finally some good results :)
She has to win this tourney!!

Jun 22nd, 2012, 10:37 AM
Eva and Tatja are in the doubles final :cheer:
Hopefully Eva's first title will come :yeah:

Jun 23rd, 2012, 04:14 PM
Eva lost in the final 7-6(3) 6-0
Another missed opportunity
She should have taken the sweep but her head gets in the way
She will never be good unless she gets on top of the choking

Jul 7th, 2012, 01:07 PM
Eva win the Estonian Tennis Championships :cheer:
These were her victories:
R1: (3) Eva Paalma def. BYE
R2: (3) Eva Paalma def. Ehtel Metsik 6-2 6-1
QF: (3) Eva Paalma def. Julia Matojan 6-3 6-3
SF: (3) Eva Paalma def. Birgit Burk 7-6(6) 6-3
F: (3) Eva Paalma def. (6) Erika Hendsel 6-2 6-2

Some very unconvincing results given the nature of her draw but the Final was very nice :)
According to Eesti Tennise Liit Erika sometimes didn't put enough on the ball and Eva kept the errors down and played agressively to win :)

She is still alive in the Doubles as well as top seeds and Defending Champions with Tatjana Vorobjova. In the final they play unseeded pair Julia Matojan and Mia Nicole Eklund, but thay are not to be taken lightly (they beat the Second Seeded Ilves's 3 and 1 and 3rd Seeded Hendsel/Pihlak 2 and 0 )

Hopefully this will set the tone for her G1 next week in Germany :)

Jul 18th, 2012, 10:26 AM
Eva made the SF in doubles in Germany, beating the top seeds on the way :cheer:
This will be great practice for the European Championships in Klosters next week, where IMO Estonia will be one of the orst performing teams with Pihlak, who has never played an event higher than G4, will be the second player

Anyway, she is also playing Savitaipale 10K in Finland :cheer: where she is now in qualifying (second last DA). She was way down near the 60s at one stage, but many had the tournament as their second preference. It's a shame that the European Championships has been moved a week later (or Tampere/Savitaipale a week earlier) as she can't play Tampere as it clashes with European Championships. These tournaments would have been great to record maybe a QF as they are close to home, lucky for Estonians (Anett + Anett have had success here) and in general they are weak :)

Anyway, it is a shame she is born in December like Anett as she will probably never get to play a Junior GS

In an interview with her after her Estonian Championships win, she says that after her 1 more year of school she will try and take her tennis to the professional level. I hope she does :cheer:

Jul 29th, 2012, 10:10 AM
Eva had to pull out of her Doubles with Lisanna Pihlak after winning the first set against the Hungarian 10th seeds and then walk-overed her singles vs Moratelli

She also had to pull out of Savitaipale, a tournament where given the players in Qualifying, she would have made MD definately(there is only 1 ranked player :help:) :sobbing:

I hope she does better in her next tournaments and that she can recover from this injury :(

Aug 22nd, 2012, 12:50 PM
Eva didn't manage to win any events at this years 18U Estonian Championships :sobbing:
In the singles she had confident early wins over Annemai Mutso in Round 2 (6-0 6-2) and Liisa Pajumets in the QFs (6-1 6-2). She then had to face Birgit Burk, who really should be playing ITFs by now as she has shown huge potential, as she snuck by 7-5 6-7(3) 6-3. She then had to face Tatjana in the final, and either due to tiredness, bad play or Tatjana finally getting some form back she managed to lose 7-5 6-4  This is the girl who gets destroyed by Erika every time they play and lost Eva 1 and 2 earlier this year in Tallinn, when Eva had to pull out of her next match :help:

She decided not to play Doubles with Tatja, or even at all which was quite surprising

In the mixed she was top-seeded with Kenneth Raisma and they made the final before losing to Kerner and Vorobjova 6-4 3-6 10-6 :(

Tatja sweeped all the events

She isn't on the entry list for any events besides the US Open Juniors which she sadly won't qualify for

Oct 24th, 2012, 03:33 PM
10,000$ Stockholm R1:
(Q)Eva Paalma (EST) d. (8)Laura Schäder (GER) 75 63   :yeah:

Laura is WTA #659, that is an awesome win for Eva! Next is Anastasiya Saitova (RUS)

Oct 24th, 2012, 08:03 PM
Eva dance: First WTA Point that wasn't over Tatja :D
She plays well on the Pro Circuit. I think she can make the QF :D

Oct 25th, 2012, 09:23 PM
Despite Eva losing Singles after being up 5*-3 30-0 in the Second (Final Score 6-3 7-6(6)), she and Maria beat the Top Seeds Melander/Milosavljevic 6-2 2-6 13-11 :cheer: According to the Scorecard, they led 9-5, but they won anyway

One worrying fact though is that despite Eva serving 3 Aces vs Saitova, she also served 11 Doubles :help: She must have Skyped Anett  Anyway, it was probably because she was trying to hit them harder so they wouldn't be attacked but her First Serve was very effective, with 86% Points won on 1st Serve in the Second :D

Oct 27th, 2012, 12:33 AM
Eva is into the Doubles Final with Maria Mokh as they beat Allgurin/Peterson 3-6 6-4 14-12 :cheer:
They saved 3 MPs at 9-7 and 12-11 in the Tiebreak   :worship:
She seems to be better than Anett :oh:
Anyway, if she wins she will have a title in just her 3 Doubles performace on the Pro Tour :cheer:
I hope they play again next week :inlove:
Eva is first match on Court 1, starting at 12:00 Stockholm Time where she will play Bashota/Ostapenko who I think are definitely beatable :)

Oct 28th, 2012, 12:27 PM
Eva won 6-2 6-0 from 2-2 in the First :D
Next she probably has Klackenburg who's up a set. I am confident she will win :D
Unfortunately she lost the Doubles Final yesterday although they were up 5*-4 in the 1st, even going up 15-0 it wasn't to be :)
They ended up losing 7-6(4) 6-1. Still a great week for her. I hope they play again :D
Here's the photo:

Oct 28th, 2012, 03:29 PM
Good start, she should win her next match too :)

Oct 29th, 2012, 08:51 PM
Eva came back to win 5-6 6-2 6-0  :D :bounce:  :cheer:
That really is a shock but an excellent performance. First round though, she unfortunately has to play Maria :( Anyway, they are not playing Doubles this week but she is playing with Alina Silich which I also find disappointing but C'est la vie!!! They have a very easy R1 and a winnable R2 as well :D

Anyway, Eva and Erika are both not playing this evening but will play tomorrow :)

Oct 31st, 2012, 02:45 PM
Eva lost 46 63 6(1)7

Guess what, she was leading 5-2* and 5*-3 30-15 in third but as you can see, she could not finish the match. Held her serve to love to go up 6-5, was again 2 points from victory (30-30) but then only managed to get just 1 point after that

Typical Estonian...

Oct 31st, 2012, 09:06 PM
 It muct have been hard to play her doubles partner
Such a shame as she had a real shot IMO at a QF here with Flood in the next round :sobbing:
She is an Estonian, except the opposite of Anett: Anett chokes in Games and Wins, Eva doesn't choke in Games but chokes Matches :sobbing:
But some good news is that she is into the SFs for Doubles with Silich after winning her 1st Round and then Doroshina/Saitova pulled out
They have either Melander/Milosavljevic or Allgurin/Peterson, both looking for revenge :D

Hopefully she can get that ranking some other time
We could have had 4 ranked players at the end of the week :banghead:

Nov 11th, 2012, 12:46 AM
Eva is playing 25K Helsinki, and in the First Round she plays Anne Kremer, who last week lost to someone in the 600s, being served a bagel so I think Eva has a great opportunity here :) Then though, she has most likely Ostapenko which will be an almost impossible task but good luck :)

Nov 14th, 2012, 10:10 AM
Unfortunately Eva lost 6-0 6-3 :(
This loss is not as bad as it seems though as Kremer went on to beat Ostapenko 2 and 3 and is playing her MD 1st Round today :)
She also used to be Top 20
I think this was a great opportunity for Eva and with a bit luckier draw I think she could have pushed for MD :)
Anyway, next week she has off before heading to Antalya for at least 1 10K, probably 2 :) It's great she's really committing to the Pro Tour. She could have a ranking very very soon :D

Feb 9th, 2013, 11:23 AM
Eva leads 6-3 5*-1 in her Qualifying Round 1 Match :)
If she can win she will face Donika Bashota in FQR :(

EDIT: GSM!!! On MP #1

Feb 9th, 2013, 03:14 PM
Eva leads 6-3 5*-1 in her Qualifying Round 1 Match :)
If she can win she will face Donika Bashota in FQR :(

EDIT: GSM!!! On MP #1

Feb 9th, 2013, 11:00 PM
IK :haha:
Bashota is one of the better unranked players but I think Eva has a really good chance to qualify and finally get her ranking :D

Feb 10th, 2013, 10:33 AM
Eva won the first set 6-4 after being down 2-0 but is now down 5*-4 in the 2nd :(
She had a gazillion GPs at 3*-5 before being down SP and then winning on her next GP
How Estonian :oh:

EDIT: Eva has 0-15 :D

EDIT #2: 0-30 :D :yeah:

EDIT #3: 15-30 :) BREAK!!!

EDIT #4: 15-40  :worship:

EDIT #5: 30-40 :scared: BREAK EVA :D

EDIT #6: She breaks  :haha:
How un-Estonian :oh:

Feb 10th, 2013, 10:50 AM
Eva was broken at 5-5 before she broke back and is up 3*-0 in the TB

EDIT: 4-0

EDIT #2: 5-0 :yeah: :cheer:

EDIT #3: 6-0 :D  :worship: Let's see if she can out-choke Anett :oh:
At least she has the change of ends to calm herself :D

EDIT #4: 7-0  :cheer: :rocker2:  :haha:
She won on her 1st MP again, and saved at least 1 SP this time :haha:
Swedish water must prevent Estonians from choking
Now let's get a good draw and get that ranking :yeah:

Feb 12th, 2013, 04:13 PM
Lost to Barbat (3) 63 06 67, needless to say Eva choked hard in the 3rd set :o

Feb 13th, 2013, 06:03 AM
Shame :(
Proves she's at a good level :)
Probably the best un-ranked player I can think of :D
I will download factsheet and see :oh:
Anyway, hopefully she can defend her Tallinn Point next week and then get one in 25K Tallinn :)
Such a shame though :(

EDIT: EVA WAS UP 0-5 30-40  :sobbing: :hysteric:
She is obviously the same as Anett
Also had 15-40 and and Advantage at 5-2 along with 30-30 and 40-40 at 5-2...
Such a disappointment :(
She doesn't want a ranking obviously :oh:

May 18th, 2013, 05:11 PM
Eva played a 10K in Bastad last week and unfortunately lost R1 to Katy Dunne in Qualies 3-6 6-1 6-3
That's not a bad loss given Katy made R2 of MD only to lose to a seed and is a very highly ranked Junior who is decent on Clay :)
If only Eva had the WTA ranking she deserved she wouldn't have had to face a ranked player and would have been able to Qualify :sobbing:
Losses such as those are so painful
Still, she still has ages including the Finnish tournaments to get a ranking :)

Jun 10th, 2013, 08:30 AM
Eva has had a series of unlucky/bad results :(
This week she lost Round 1 in Qualifying to Dominika Paterova in Amstetten 10K :(
Paterova is a good player taking sets off 200ish players like Vrjlic but if Eva wants to make it she needs to be winning these matches :(
I hope she can finally get her WTA ranking and string some results together as she seems to have some potential :)

Jul 22nd, 2013, 08:25 PM
Eva qualified to the MD in Tampere 10K tournament, beating Anna Velica 64 46 75.
Plays Tanja Tuomi in R1, this is winnable :)

Jul 22nd, 2013, 09:21 PM
Eva qualified to the MD in Tampere 10K tournament, beating Anna Velica 64 46 75.
Plays Tanja Tuomi in R1, this is winnable :)

Decent win but what's more impressive was her mental strength :D
She really should win this given that Tuomi is in a hole and that Lisanna Pihlak beat her

Ranking here we come :D

Jul 22nd, 2013, 09:25 PM
Eva qualified to the MD in Tampere 10K tournament, beating Anna Velica 64 46 75.

3 hours 40 minutes

Jul 22nd, 2013, 09:34 PM
3 hours 40 minutes

Bitch. I hope she can play  I am surprised she would be the winner in that type of match :D How did you find out

Jul 23rd, 2013, 07:51 AM
3 hours 40 minutes

Jul 24th, 2013, 11:30 AM
Eva defeated Tanja Tuomi 62 62, she will now get a ranking :D

Jul 24th, 2013, 12:05 PM
Eva defeated Tanja Tuomi 62 62, she will now get a ranking :D

Yay Eva :D I was expecting the win but after the 3:40 marathon I was worried she might collapse
Now Tarasova, the 711th ranked girl with 99% of her points from Shymkent  A really good opportunity for Eva to make a QF here :cheer:
Based on rank and Eva's defeat of some good players in the past, she really could almost win this tournament but of course she won't :D

Jul 24th, 2013, 04:12 PM
Finally :cheer:

Jul 24th, 2013, 10:27 PM
Finally :cheer:

Thank God Estonia has 3 ranked women again

Jul 25th, 2013, 11:34 AM
Eva just started :D
She she held and then broke so she leads 2-0 :cheer:
She is down 15-30 in this game though and as any Estonian would do, she has already served a Double Fault :oh:

Jul 25th, 2013, 12:31 PM
Eva loses the 1st Set 7-6(4) :(
She came back many times but had quite a few opportunities she didn't take :(
She really can win this match though :)

Jul 25th, 2013, 01:25 PM
Eva won the 2nd 6-4 but she has already hit 11 Double Faults
She has a break in the 3rd :armed:
Make that 12

Jul 25th, 2013, 05:25 PM
And she lost the 3rd set 26

Jul 28th, 2013, 06:08 AM
Eva is playing unranked Australian Kerstin Peckl in Savitaipale :)
She should get this win but anything is possible with Eva
This girl is on a 7 Match 10K (Qualies almost exclusively) losing streak :oh:

In FQR she would have to play Natasha Bredl who would be much tougher but is still winnable IMO :)

BTW, her opponent in Tampere Tarasova easily made the SF and almost beat Barbat (who Eva basically beat in Linkoping) who is playing the final against an unseeded Vasilyeva barely in the Top 800 :sobbing:
She could have won the tournament :hysteric:

Jul 29th, 2013, 10:14 PM
Eva Qualified with a 1-6 6-2 6-3 win :cheer:
She also of course won her 1st Round 6-2 6-7(7) 6-3 :)

Unfortunately she drew the 2nd Seed 1st round. The plus side though is that it is Suomalainen who lost 1st Round last week and almost lost to Tatja :haha:
After that she could have 2 Qualifiers, but one of them is Komardina :scared:

Jul 30th, 2013, 01:40 PM
Eva really seems to be hitting her stride :cheer:
3-1* 15-40 and only 1 Double :D
Now 30-40...

EDIT: 4-1 :cheer:

EDIT 2: Eva saves at least 2 BPs and leads 5-1 :cheer:

Only 1 DF :D
Ranking Point Number 4 here we come :D

EDIT 4: Eva's got 1-0 Bitches :D

EDIT 5: Eva had 4-1* 0-30 but squandered that and lost the game so 4-2 :(
Please don't choke :sobbing:

EDIT 6: Eva gets 5-2 :bounce:
She seems to be holding strong :) Just finishing touches now...

EDIT 7: 0-30 :D 2 more...

EDIT 8: DF and 0-40

EDIT 9: EVA WINS!!! OMG I am sooooo happy :D I know Suomalainen is in very poor form but to win like that really is something :) If she plays like this I can see her beating Komardina and then Vasilyeva although she is in good form :D Really a great victory for her and hopefully for her confidence :)

BTW, if Eva finishes the year in the Top 1000, around 900 preferably depending on her schedule, I think that would be a nice achievement :) Does she intend to go to College? If not, I know people think I am just hoping, but given her game-style and physique I really can see her getting higher. Not Top 100 high, but a CH around 300 I think is plausible if she puts in the hard work and can improve her Serve, movement and Mental Strength. She has a nice game already it's just about match-fitness so to speak :) And anyway, she only served 2 Doubles which has to be an all time low

Jul 31st, 2013, 08:39 AM
I thought she might win it, but it was so easy

Aug 1st, 2013, 09:06 AM
Eva is unfortunately losing 2-6 1*-2 :(
She should have taken the BP in that game to get the break :( Come on Eva, you are good enough to win this :cheer:

EDIT 1: Of course she gets broken in that game even though she had 30-0
Even though she is a massive choke and not really doing much, there is something about her which makes me think she somehow has a shot

EDIT 2: And of course Eva chokes 40-0 and now it is 5-1 :haha:

EDIT 3: 2 and 1  Unfortunate to get this draw especially on Clay but really could/should have put in a better performance :( Still, a pretty decent week :) Now she comfortably has a ranking and it's time to get a QF now :D Unfortunately no Doubles this year in Finland :(

Aug 1st, 2013, 03:36 PM

Aug 25th, 2013, 08:17 PM
Eva is playing in Romania. She won very 3 very easy matches in 10K qualies but lost 26 36 in R1 to unseeded Josephine Boualen.
Now she has won 2 matches in 25K qualification, double bagelled a Bulgarian bagel girl and then a tough 57 63 75 in Q2. She plays against (2)Arabela Fernandez-Rabener (ESP) for a place in MD. :)

Sep 15th, 2013, 01:20 PM
Unfortunately she lost 6-2 6-0 against Fernandez-Rabener :(
What's worse though was her loss in 50K Mestre Q1 against Georgia Brescia 7-6 7-6 where she led in both sets :sobbing:
I think she should have played Tlemcen where she would have been seeded and could easily have made a QF or SF given Ibbou won

No upcoming tournaments :( I wonder if she plans to go to college?

Oct 28th, 2013, 06:59 PM
Become a seventh Estonian to win a ITF title last week (doubles in Stockholm with Mokh).

Oct 28th, 2013, 09:06 PM
I saw, great result :)
And beat Yana Morderger as well + Qualified this week where she should win :bounce:

Hopefully she can get a QF sooner or later :)

Oct 31st, 2013, 09:37 PM
Eva is in her 1st ITF QF :cheer:
It did unfortunately come through retirement but it was against Hilda Melander and she was winning in the 3rd :D :)
Also GOATing Doubles :D

Anyway, next is Tess Sugnaux who is the 7th Seed but I think Eva can win :) :D

Anyway, good luck and keep moving your ranking forward :D She will be getting quite close to Top 1100 now if not in it? :)

Nov 15th, 2013, 06:04 AM
She has reached a QF in Helsinki and faces Jelena Ostapenko now.

Nov 15th, 2013, 06:17 AM
She has reached a QF in Helsinki and faces Jelena Ostapenko now.

IK it's really great :0 Also in Doubles SF :)
I think she can be Top 600 by the end of next year if she works hard and plays a fulls schedule because I watched her vs Munozova and she has a very nice game :)

Does she want to go to college though? :)

Nov 24th, 2013, 08:19 PM
YAY Eva, well deserved :)

Feb 1st, 2014, 05:02 PM

Feb 2nd, 2014, 12:13 AM
She looks nice and I thought her travelling story was interesting :) Hopefully she gets to play a bit at Fed Cup :)

Her mother is a designer isn't she :)

Is Eva still playing tennis because she hasn't played for ages...

Jun 20th, 2014, 02:05 PM
Is Eva still playing tennis because she hasn't played for ages...

She was busy graduating from the high school, I think. That's why she has not played internationally.

Jun 21st, 2014, 01:48 AM
She was busy graduating from the high school, I think. That's why she has not played internationally.

Oh I thought she graduated last year... SO she's in the same year as Anett?

Jun 21st, 2014, 07:42 AM
Oh I thought she graduated last year... SO she's in the same year as Anett?

She was year ahead.

Jun 21st, 2014, 10:37 AM
She was year ahead.

Why is Anett friends with so many girls that have finished school then like Heidy Erm?

Jul 30th, 2014, 05:13 PM
Eva won her 1st round match in Savitaipale 10K tournament, she beat Ella Leivo 63 63 :)
Next is 8th seeded Diana Bogoliy (#904)

Jul 30th, 2014, 10:38 PM
Nice win :) I think she should beat Bogoliy too :cheer: Sakkari will be next to impossible though  No Doubles which is confusing... Still, Eva seems to have improved a fair bit since last year :)

Aug 1st, 2014, 03:17 PM
Really? If anything she has regressed. Or more likely just in bad form after busy spring.

Aug 2nd, 2014, 02:00 AM
Really? If anything she has regressed. Or more likely just in bad form after busy spring.

I said this before that terrible Bogoliy loss... She is playing worse than in Tallinn 15K but I put that down to surface, but it seems you are right about her performance here. I just assumed that her loss to Dean was because of Dean playing well and against Leivo she just had a tough opener...

Aug 21st, 2014, 09:25 AM
She is now Texas A&M student.

Aug 21st, 2014, 02:16 PM
She is now Texas A&M student.

Good on her :) It will be sad to see the Estonian Fed Cup team absolutely collapse :(
Is that a good tennis uni? She is ranked pretty high so I expect she could make it into quite a good one :) Hopefully she keeps playing :D :)

Aug 21st, 2014, 09:36 PM
Is that a good tennis uni? She is ranked pretty high so I expect she could make it into quite a good one :)

Led by Cristina Stancu they were 9th ranked college last season. Stancu has now graduated, but Eva joins the likes of Klaudia Boczova, Saska Gavrilovska, Rutuja Bhosale, Anna Mamalat, Stefania Hristov and Ines Deheza.

Sep 1st, 2014, 02:58 PM

Still can't believe that I'm actually here... Moreover, college life really is like in the movies

Sep 1st, 2014, 10:47 PM

I know Bhosale and Gavrilovska :) She should be #2 or 3 which is very exciting :)

I saw that Instagram post and thought it was very cute  The photo was sweet as well :) I wonder if they'll make her available for Fed Cup :)

Sep 24th, 2014, 07:05 PM
Amelia Island R1: Eva Paalma (EST) d. (Q)Sophie Chang (USA) 75 75

One more WTA ranking point before the proper college season starts. Tough R2 against Halbauer, even if she was not very convincing in the opening round. QF would probably be against Ingrid Neel ;)

Sep 24th, 2014, 07:56 PM
:cheer: Even thought I really would like a Eva-Ingrid QF happen, I don't think Eva can get past Halbauer. Hope she proves me I was wrong:D

She is also in the Q list for Rock Hill 25K tournament.

Sep 25th, 2014, 03:59 AM
Eva :cheer: I saw her post with Richard Williams and I was so happy for her :) Didn't know she was playing an ITF though  Her college performances so far have been pretty bad so this is a nice improvement :) I don't think she's used to the Hardcourts.

I wonder why Anett Schutting never played any ITFs...

Sep 25th, 2014, 06:07 PM
R2: (5)Ellie Halbauer (USA) d. Eva Paalma (EST) 36 64 60

I wonder how much attention, if any, her match versus Ingrid would have gotten.

Sep 25th, 2014, 07:58 PM
It was 46 in 2nd ;)
Didn't even really expect her to win a set tbh.

Sep 26th, 2014, 06:36 AM
It's a shame she did so badly after I went to sleep :( The games I saw that she lost were very close :)

Oct 20th, 2014, 08:19 PM

Well done Eva :)

Oct 27th, 2014, 04:41 PM
Eva was leading 5-1* in the first set but choked it to 5-5, luckily she managed to recover and took the next 2 games and started 2nd set good aswell.

QR2: Julia Elbaba (USA) d. Eva Paalma (EST) 64 62

Still a decent result given she wouldn't have played on this surface much before :)
