I know I'm new but can I manage Rome?

Rome is already taken as we removed one of the ITF's in that week. Didn't mark that on the front page...
Still a few ITF's and Wimbledon free for your debut

I will manage Wimbledon in MTF so it will be hard to do both, I will take some WTA in Europe in July.

128 players in the RG QD?

3 rounds?

Michael!
May 5th, 2012, 10:59 AM
I had 3 rounds of Q in Melbourne as well but with a 96 QD (12 qualifiers) as draws tournaments should have a draw which has the same size as the real one ( according to the rules)!

But maybe the board decides to change the rule again like before to avoid ALTs :oh:

Frederik

So play starts on Thursday? do they play on the first Sunday? (may 27th)

Michael!
May 5th, 2012, 11:32 AM
RG quali starts Wednesday till Friday , MD starts on Sunday again!
I think itīs up to you whether u start on Wednesday with TT Quali (3 rounds for Wednesday,Thursday,Friday) or you start on Thursday and then use the first Sunday for Quali as well...

Haha good question. In my case,i'm an engineer,i always manage both work and TT in a way that nothing gets spoiled. At earlier days,i was very interested in managing it manually. But then for the past 2 months i have started using Evita's Spreadsheet.

The thing is that if you make use of these sheets, you will not even find difficulty.Very easy to manage your study/work and TT

And to add more,i go to gym everyday evening and sometimes Scrabble club. You will get a balanced life :D

A request to the TT board, please mix up some Asian ITFs from August 27(already suggested by MUG as being the only manager from Asia,i think it will be easy for me to manage).

It is possible to combine. Only time it will take is 30 min to enter the picks into the spreadsheet. Next to that a short update is necessary in the evening. So I guess it take me around 1 hour per day. It would be easy if these times fall outside work hours, but for the rest it is easily combined!

I actually don't know why I host some, maybe its for fun, maybe its because of boredom.

It is possible to combine. Only time it will take is 30 min to enter the picks into the spreadsheet. Next to that a short update is necessary in the evening. So I guess it take me around 1 hour per day. It would be easy if these times fall outside work hours, but for the rest it is easily combined!

I managed a few. I have my own sheet for that. The most time consuming task is the entry list, which takes about 10 min. For me everything else is automized. Daily you have to do 30-40 (as maximum) copy-paste (the picks) that is about 5 min. You have to calculate another 5 min for cursing about inaccurately formatted picks. Daily results etc. are automated. 15 min/day, for the remaining 23 hours and 45 min you can have life.

I agree to it but i wanted to give the Aussie challengers to you taking away the Asian ones ;)

Oh  The next Aussie challengers are in September though

If you wanted an Asian challenger, I could always give Kazan to you, I'm not as wanting to do it much.

But Kazan is Russian and i preferred Baku as it is of just 3.30 hours TD to me.Actually the Asian swing also starting in early september ( Aug 27 th - Sep 2) ;) . Couple of Japanese 25Ks are there.

An hour? I'd say 20 mins for a 32 player event - Wimbledon takes over an hour but thats a 128 player draw.

Vancouver for me provided there will be an early deadline on all the days of the week.I can only post the diffs at 8PM my time which will be like 7.30AM Vancouver time.

Early deadline is no promblem. ;) But I hope you know the people are allowed to send till the correct deadline und you have to add those diffs later on...

And for week 34,I will take either of Prague or Charleroi based on Laszlo's decision since both are of 3.30 hours time difference for me and not a huge problem ;)

I will decide that now, as both of you didn't... :p

Prague ==> valac222
Charleroi ==> buji

A humble request from my side on selecting the tournaments for the calendar .

Please don't consider players' requests until and unless they are sure of commitments . This week in Beijing so many Australian players are playing and are constantly missing deadlines

In future the TT board should think about every thing before accepting to a request .

^ yes, its kind of impossible for Aussies to send for Beijing if they go to school.

The OOP is released late (11PM), and then school will start at (8.30AM) and we come home around (3PM) and play has started. I really think players should be more strategic about what tournament they play unless if they are sure they can send on time, thats probably why I don't play many Asian/Australian tournaments. Well besides the fact that I host all the Aussie tournaments :p

We always select the biggest tournaments or the ones which the managers likes to do. There'll be no change to this in the near future. It's definitely not the boards fault when a player plays in a tournament where he can't send. Every player is free to committ somewhere else or take a week off if he feels that he can't send.
So after all, we cant look on everybodys daily schedule to decide where we host tournaments. :wavey:

well actually, I was DYING to play TT Beijing but taking a look at the entry list the week before the tournament all the way until Friday, it seemed that there would not be enough entries to hold Beijing and that is why I entered Washington :bigwave:

and I am sure that more people would have played Beijing instead of Washington if it was for certain the tournament would be held :oh:

the problem w/ Beijing's weak entry list and resulting walkovers is not due to the timezone but actually due to the fact it is same week w/ Olympics

Hey guys, I just realized I got an early change of schedule at school during the week of 20th of August - Dallas, TX, USA.
Would anyone mind managing that tournament? Because I will be missing on Wednesday-Sunday and my times will clash

Tournament is Dallas, TX, USA.

Sorry for the late changes

hello joe :bigwave:

I did not see you include the SEWTA Challenger Series in your October calendar :sobbing:

http://www.wtatennis.com/news/20120520/wta-challenger-series-to-debut-in-taipei_2256076_2777778

the first tournament Taipei will be the same week as Sofia ...

as these Challengers will have livescores, may I suggest you replace one or even two of the ITF with Taipei and maybe even make it a 64 draw so alot of us can play :awww:

then after this one there is another tour in India

Thanks for the note :yeah:

It wasn't on the WTAs tournament calender, so I missed it. ;)

As it has 160 points for the winner, I guess we should add a own collumn for WTA Challengers in General Rules thread

yes but I feel it should be worth more than 160 points as that is only 10 points more than an ITF :awww:

I think the caliber of players will be like a SEWTA International (at least better than Baku, Tashkent) ... not sure if it makes sense to just make them International Events on TT with 280 points to the winner

Don't know yet...

I will discuss it with the other board members as soon as the full points table is known. WTA didn't add it yet to their "How the ranking works"-sheet.

the SEWTA probably won't add it to the points table until the tournament is over or until 2013 :oh:

O right. But actually the 2-1 goes against the correct pick from the other team. SO that one doesn't count for ISR, or am I wrong? So, in that case only the Lykina 2-1 isn't cancelled by a good pick from the opponent!

Frederik
Aug 15th, 2012, 08:39 PM
I think you're right

- The thing to be remembered is that the better picks should be paired off against each other:
Example: Team 1 picks Paszek 6-3 6-4 Jankovic 6-3 6-4
Team 2 picks Jankovic 3-6 6-3 6-4 Jankovic 6-3 6-4
- The better picks are by the first players in each team. team 2's Jankovic 2-1 is irrelevant as it is compared with team 1's Paszek pick. Then the jankovic 2-0 picks cancel each other out.

is that new?

^ is there really a need for 4 32-draw tournaments? there were only 3 in the 1st 2 weeks of this year ... I have noticed the ITFs are not that competitive when there are 4 tours a week ... maybe a solution would be to expand the size of the draw in Ningbo

More tournaments in week were added just to avoid what you are suggesting now - expanding draws - which used to happen always.
It's better to have more tournaments, easier to win points for lower ranked players. ;)
