better give it to young talented players who deserve it more (garcia, mladenovic ...)

i dont really see why garcia or mladenovic deserve more the wc but still...

because they are newcomers and need fft help to enter such a big tournament. Alize been given many wc but now she's too experienced to hope having one everytime she wants. Better for her to rely on her own results and try finally to get some consistency.

garcia perfoms good on GS but sucks so much on the other tournaments.she has to improve so much to get in there, she has a big problem with her consistency and motivation(so much to be so young i mean)

garcia has big potential and everyone saw it, cornet is slumping for 3 years now

one is on the rise and the other keeps falling more every year so well if I was fft member I'll chose the potential one who is climbing in the ranking.
cornet had a wc last year after her good run at AO, she deserved it but didnt honor it (losing to arvidsson in R1)

big waste there.

Dokic is defending QF points here. Why would she not play quallies

Tennis Observer
Jan 20th, 2012, 07:47 AM
As Jelena Dokić (AUS) played a distinguished first half of 2011 tour year, but failed afterward, she definitely needs some wins under her belt, otherwise she will lose ground significantly.

Jelena entered 618K Paris 2011 as # 120 ranked player as [4] seeded Qualifier. After notable MD wins against Lucie Šafářová (CZE) & [4]Nadia Petrova (RUS) Jelena lost her QF against then Champion Kim Clijsters (BEL) in straight sets. As reigning 220K Kuala Lumpur Champion (battled down [5]Lucie Šafářová 64 in decider) there are 418 ranking points (or Top 100) on stake within February 2012.

Mladenovic is showing good form (by French standards these days, at least) and is French doubles #1 after all. I wouldn't be surprised if she is selected alongside Parmentier and two of the girls you mention so nobody gets screwed. Kristina is safe in Pattaya MD so she doesn't need to play qualies and she is the best prospect for France so I believe she should get nominated.

Barthel and Benesova are first players in the next-in list. [...]
You are mistaken: There are two different Entry Deadlines for Main Draw (six weeks prior the start of the event) & Qualifying (three weeks prior the start of the event). As consequence, there are two separate entry-lists, one for MD (Alt 1 is Simona Halep) another one for QD (http://www.opengdfsuez.com/index_en.html#/players/players-qualifications) (lead by Mona Barthel & Iveta Benesova).

They would give them to the first players in the next-in list.
As Paris is a Premier event it’s not at the discretion of the tournament director to give them to first Alts, Nicolas is spot on:

If the Top 20 WC is not used, the Wild Card spot reverts to the next player waiting to get into the draw.

That's right. Actually tops 2 players in the original list are Halep and Martic. Then it is Benesova and Mattek-Sands.

Qualies would look quite weak as ususal as all these players (plus red-hot Barthel...) might be playing Fed Cup so they won't be able to play in qualies.

Of course one of them will be an alternate, you can only nominate 4 players. But still, France is one of the very few countries which do so (not counting the random junior player who some teams bring as a sparring). Bringing a pro player being in the top 150 as an alternate in World Group II is a bit pretentious IMHO

Nope, sunday ;)Thks. But it's also during fed cup ties.

Tennis Observer
Jan 26th, 2012, 05:26 PM
French fed cup team announced : Cornet, Parmentier, Razzano, Rezai, Mladenovic.

So, 3 players for 2 MD WC.
1 player out of the 5 will be alternate just before beginning of the tie.
Vs Spain in 2011 : Johansson was alternate (5th player).

French Team Captain Nicolas Escudé has again left Marion Bartoli off the Fed Cup team due to an ongoing dispute over the independent coaching setup with her father Walter and nominated Pauline Parmentier (# 70), Virginie Razzano (# 84), Alizé Cornet (# 85) and Aravane Rezaď (# 120) for their Wourld Group II opening round tie (http://www.fedcup.com/en/results/tie/details.aspx?tieId=100017601) against Slovak Republic in Bratislava for two x two singles and one doubles rubber.

As a consequence, Virginie Razzano (awarded MD-WC in 2011), Alizé Cornet & Aravane Rezaď cannot play in QD 637K Paris (Pauline Parmentier didn’t enter), but they knew that there are only two MD-WC available. As cut for 220K Pataya City (Iryna Brémond # 94 wil play there) is # 127 right now, they had an option if they like to compete the week after Fed-Cup.

As - according to Fed Cup Rules – two of the nominated four players may be changed one hour prior before the draw, I understand your comments that Kristina Mladenović (# 145) will travelling to Bratislava as a hitting partner and hopes to makes the cut (Alt 5) for MD 220K Pattaya City.

As I always prefer win-win situations is sad to see that Nicolas Escudé & Marion Bartoli couldn’t find a solution for their dispute. The French team would be much more competitive and Marion Bartoli a shoo-in for Olympics.

Rezaď will probably get a WC in Doha or in Dubaď. And 5th player could maybe leave Slovakia friday evening in order to play qualies on saturday in Paris.

Concerning Marion Bartoli, she has too many grudges against fft. Imo, she'll never play fed cup anymore, even with a new captain. She played Razzano in Melbourne and Escudé, probably in the stands, explained that he didn't see her. Link is broken....Mauresmo is the last person on the earth who can still do something in this story. But i guess it's too late.

she ll play nothing and will have enough time to go and cheer for her boyfriend playing challengers.

Once again a dumb sheduling from her. Many others french players are in the list and deserve it more, thinking she would get one shows how disconnected she is now. And not sure she'll play fed cup neither so she fucked up all her sheduling instand of going and play outside of her "comfort zone".
Mathilde Johansson was in the same position but she chose to go and play bogota to save her ranking. Cornet is 115 now, time to react now, it's been 3 years since her fall began, she's desperate.:rolleyes:

And if Top 20 WC are not used (max 2), Top 20 WC spots revert to the next players waiting to get into the draw (Halep,.....)

And as Rezai and Razzano are on qualies entry list, they probably will get WC spots.

MD ceremony will start sunday morning 11:00 am, we will see.

i agree with amelie momo, she should play in south america already this week(cali or the wta international) better than paris(even more now she didnt get a wc), but i mean, paris its indoors, it was 95% sure she would lose in the first round, why not going to south america to earn some points?she needs to get her ranking up, or she will have to play wimbledon qualies...

Very suprising act by Aravane. Sensible? Selfless? Alizé can consider herself very fortunate, but she will surely be seen as a walking bye in the MD.

Edit: could the Paris organisers have decided to take the MD WC from Aravane, rather than her making a choice to play quals?
