Thks to SM :
Marion has probably recovered from her right ankle problem. She played yesterday with childrens for a famous french charity in her club in Divonne les Bains and ate with them.

It seems that she has forecasted to go in Australia very early in December in order to prepare 2012 season. She did the same last year, practicing a lot on gold coast before Brisbane tournament.

Waiting for whole interview in French Magazine in december, but Marion says that she will have deep discussions with WTA in Melbourne concerning OG.

If i understand well what's going on, Marion wants to prove that selection criterias imposed by FFT are too stricts and beyond what she considers as reasonnable.

French expression used by Marion is : « des conditions de sélection déraisonnables »

I guess that she wants to prove to ITF, supported by WTA, that FFT in requesting to skip her father from staff is overstepping its rights.

http://www.rmcsport.fr/editorial/207355/bartoli-ne-lache-pas-les-jo/

For example, Petra Kvitova's coach was integrated in Czech staff during last Davies cup finals.

i dont understand why they would want to block her from playing. she is the only french player with any shot at any kind of medalYou know....if one day she wins a grand slam, i guess that her heart will tell all the things she has in her brain. The story is so long.....

Jean Gachassin, fft president : "Je ne vais pas remettre en question un système que toutes les autres filles ont accepté des années pour une éventuelle médaille olympique."

Or in english : "I'm not going to change a system that all the other players have accepted for years for a possible Olympic medal".

probably not

this is one of the biggest sporting events, if not the biggest in the world . You would think they would want marion there because, as i said she really is france's only major hope for a medal on the womens side and so you'd think they'd want someone there who can do well for their country. In fact if she's on her game id say she's one of the favorites

oh well. Im pissed but there's probably no point in going on about it

I re-watched match vs Jarka :
- 1st serve was terrific : 12 aces for 6 serve games played

About this match, she can regret the 2nd SP which she really fucked up by a too tentative play. She had a couple of occasions to outhit Vika but didn't dare doing so. Oh well. Only Melbourne will matter. Go Baba!

I'm not really enthusiastic for Australia. She's lost all three of her matches against higher ranked opponents so far this year.

Razzano R1 :sobbing:
Dokic/A Chak R2
Vinci/Zheng R3
Sam?Nadia R4
Petra QF

A tough section with Razzano, Zheng, A Chak, Dokic and Vinci.
But if she makes it out, she has a good chance at a QF (considering she could have drew Na/Vera/Aga in 4th) I'm just praying she makes it past the 1st/2nd/3rd rounds :sobbing:

Razzano in first, it could be a very mental match for Marion
Not good feelings for this draw ...Not really, the last time during 2010 USO, she led 4-1 1st set before to be injured. Her game level is so much higher now. And she already played 7 matches the last 2 weeks.

I guess that she doesn't care about the opponent (remember match vs Serena). She's mentally ready to face every player.

i don't think she'll have trouble beating Razzano:confused:, but in R2 Dokic could be pretty tough if inspired and on a big court:tape:/Chakvetadze is playing well again but retired again in Hobart so who even knows with her:help:(i'd pick Dokic to win between these two)... i never predict beyond that in a GS with Marion:lol: but i see her in R3 at least

Am I the only one who thinks she has a great shot at a big result here? If Marion plays the way she has been, I cant see any of those players upto R4 bothering her. Marion hammered Sam the last two times shes played her, and we all know Stosur's awfulness at home. All the players who own her, Radwanska, Azarenka, Wozniacki and Bepa are on the top half too. Then, an asthma plagued Kvitova on the other side of the bottom half with no other real threats there... Dont want to get ahead of myself because I always end up disappointed with great slam draws but this is a fantastic one. Shes most vulnerable early on but she always brings the goods in big slam matches against top players, at least for the first one.

Good. She just lost 5 games overall so that's a pretty good start.
A rematch against Dokic could be a little bit trickier. On a good day she can be a major threat. Marion will need to keep serving well.
I start to be very afraid of Zheng looming in her quarter. I still have in memory this R3 exit when she could have easily reached the semies. :sobbing:

Oh well a win is a win. If she was playing as badly as everyone says, she probbaly would have lost this match a few years ago. Id rather her play badly now anyway and still win. Plus she didnt play that well at the start of Wimbledon either.

I agree with Iceland about Zheng, shes the biggest threat in this quarter... I was never worried whatsoever about Stosur but Zheng is tricky...

Good win to kick off her campaign.

I'm worried about Dokic. From what I saw of the Sydney highlights, Jelena was overpowering a passive Marion in the second set when she had it together, and the crowd could be a big factor in this match.

Marion needs to be aggressive and, of course, serve well.

Nena_xxx
Jan 17th, 2012, 08:59 PM
Serve can be her huge advantage. Jelena Dokic is famous for her weak serve when she isn't playing quite well, and even when she plays good. So if Marion serves well, it should be good.

It was such a flat performance, tbh. She didn't even hit a single return winner, made many return errors though, and her serve wasn't there either. Many of her shots were just sitting up. She did say in her post match interview: "I think either my ball was not going fast enough or she was extremely fast. I don't know what was going on. But I really felt I couldn't penetrate and I couldn't hit winners, which usually I can do quite easily". She didn't say that there was anything physically wrong though, so I guess it was just one of those days.

Jie played well, taking the ball early and redirecting, but even still, she had a negative winner to error ratio. I've seen her play much better.

I think we all expected too much. Bar 2009, her record in Australia is pretty poor.

Marion's movement on court was so poorly yesterday, I think she was probably overtrained, she needs a fitness coach besides her father to keep healthy, as she is already 27, her body can't afford to train crazily every day! You know, she tried in 2004. She worked during 2 weeks with Pat Etcheverry. But she was so thin that she lost power. As we all know, she's not an athlet like the other top players. So, that's why she needs to be 100% ready. And she's not, she can be defeated.

She will reach her peak ranking after AO : 7
