What a waste of talent. She could have been a long-term top 20 fixture.

ALG is ranked 52 in doubles and 266 in singles. Clearly she has no motivation to chug around on the ITF tour trying to rebuild her singles ranking when she can be placing better events and earning good money just playing doubles on the main tour. Like many players whose singles ranking falls off a cliff whilst their doubles one is still decent, it often pays to drop the singles, cf Katarina Srebotnik. One wonders how long Yaroslava Shvedova will carry on in singles if she can't regain a top 150 ranking this year.

Hope she finds a decent partner.

A doubles player can make millions if they are any good.

I always thought she was a waste of talent look-wise. Before her coach fucked her up she was beautiful. Bummer about her tennis.

IKR? I'm moderating my language a lot but he's one of the very few people you can use curses like Son of a Bitch with and being 100% correct.

Not sure if this is good or bad news? I'm not convinced she was ever destined for a decade long stint as a top 10-20ish player, even if that fuck of a coach hadn't fucked her up - even when she was up-n-coming she was still losing definitively to the (future) big ones like Venus, Dementieva, Sharapova, Henin... But she never really got the chance, and that's gotta sting. But hey, she's won Wimbledon in mixed, and she's had pretty decent results in mixed/doubles over the past couple of years - best of luck to her!
