I think in terms of absolute power, Venus. Consistently, Petra.

Kvitova by a nose.

Venus is a brainless ballbasher at times. Kvitty is a brainless ballbasher a lot of times.

Venus sometimes have more control in her shots I think. Petra is just throwing a grenade to you.:oh:

I think Venus can hit harder than Kvitova, but the problem is Venus has good defensive ability, and she knows it, which leads her to rely on passive play far too much, which often results in her pushing the ball back into court where it is attackable for her opponents.
I'm pretty sure Venus and Serena don't hit as hard consistently off the ground as they used to because at their current ages, it's a recipe for injury, but Venus's potency on the first serve still shows what monstrous power she is capable of.

As someone said Venus would hit the hardest shot. But Kvitova would do it in a consistent basis.
Also i think Kvitova´s power seems so much effortless, beside the "barking" and stuff, she seems to put a lot of weight into the shot with so much ease. Does not look like its going to be a killing shot, and she has not finished her motion when the ball has already passed you on the baseline..

i think venus, and venus is a better player in general, petra has a huge advantage because she is a lefty, she not only hit the ball hard, but also can find beautiful angles and with the wide serve she can put every player out of the court, but as for the power i take venus

venus has more raw power....she won't hit it as hard consistently as she can/used to however

That was always the myth...oh the WS hit hard, they only win by hitting hard. Ain't even the hardest hitters most of the time. Vee used to be hard-hitter in her days, but not anymore.

Venus used to hit very hard. Her groundstrokes were incredibly penetrating above the rest around 99-03, esp peaking in 00-02 it was comparable with the men's strokes.
From 04- 08, Venus still had some sting in her shots, but weren't comparable to her early years. She was still up there with the top power players though.
From 09 to 11, Venus' strokes lost a lot of power. She could hit decently at times with not much power. She couldn't hit people off the court any more, instead sometimes got overpowered herself.
The Venus- Kimiko match at Wimby 11 was a joke. The reason Kimiko was able to exchange back and forth with Venus, because she played like a pusher, no power in her shots that made Kimko who has good hands looked good. That was very sad.
So Venus of the old days was a little more powerful than Kvitova, even at her peak. However Kvitova is very strong now in her early 20s, so she can easily overwhelm Venus of late now. Don't know how Venus is going to play when she come back next year. She could get back some power, but definitely it would never be anywhere comparing to the power in her peak years.
Petra stroke now is very comparable with Maria's from 05- early 08 in terms of power.

Kvitova is the hardest hitter on tour, except for maybe Rezai.

yeah, Rezai when she's on just seems to hit out of this world... even harder than Vee

Idk why people talk about Maria or Rezai here. OP asked who hits harder between Kvitova n Venus. :o

How good is to see Venus in a highlight reel and not a full match, not watching her spray that many errors.
She was just blasting the ball past Stosur.. think to that by then she was already sick somehow..

Venus can probably hit harder.. However Kvitova's lefty game makes her power trickier..

I think Venus can hit harder from everybody in WTA. She have so mush absolute power in her stoke. When she is on her best she hitharder then Serena, Kvitova and etc.
