Some prize money´s are singles only (Kvitova), some are singles + doubles (Wozniacki) and some are singles + doubles + top 10 bonus (Azarenka) ??

Thanks for pointing that out. I've now amended it to include prize money from singles and doubles but not top 10 bonuses.

according to NOTES & NETCORDS, the prize money lists should look like this:

STANDING NAME NAT SINGLES DOUBLES MIXED TOTAL

2 WOZNIACKI, CAROLINE DEN 3,064,756 825 4,065,581...

That includes top 10 bonuses which are appearance money based on a player's ranking rather than prize money.

Kvitova has a slightly better winning percentage (83%--54/11) when you only consider WTA main draw matches.

People who reached at least R4 (second week) in the past 4 slams: no-one and probably for the first time since Open Era began...

Reaching R3 in the past 4 slams is nothing special for top players. At all.

Wozniacki can thank her lucky stars Radwanska is her permanent pigeon. That win at the YEC clinched her #1 spot.

Normally WTA releases them around the time YEC starts. Perhaps they've gotten lazy this year.

What's really frustrating about the rankings, as far as Wozniacki's concerned, is that she barely encounters Top 10 player in the draw. This years she's beaten Jankovic and Schiavone several times each. Neither, of course, are even in the top 10 anymore. To her credit, she beat Radwanska and the YEC and Azarenka (but only to retirement) at Indian Wells.

Caroline's #1 ranking has protected her from encountering many other top 10 players in the draws of events she goes to. When faced with truly high caliber players (Maria, Petra, Vera, Serena, Petko or even slightly lower quality ones, Cibulkova, Penetta, Kanepi) her stats are not good. Personally, I think it sucks that she has to face so much scrutiny about her ranking. On the other hand, I don't have any particular reason to defend her, because she rarely proves that she can beat the best. As the numbers would show it, her ranking is a result of the #1 ranking being structurally built to protect itself, from playing a bunch of small tournaments and from capitalizing on slumping players. If she consistently beat the best, but hadn't managed to do so in a major I think that people would be more inclined to believe that she could. At this point, however, she hasn't proved that she can do that. She's basically a glorified Melanie Oudin with mental toughness and a lot of luck.

I was the one that did that thread 2 years ago. :) It was fun to compare and update. Might do one for 2012.
