View Full Version : Did anyone keep track of aces and double faults for 2011?

I tried the search feature but could not find any info. Just asking...

I'm guessing Stosur or Kvitova got the most aces this year.

I'm thinking Pavlyuchenkova and Sharapova are leading the double faults category.

No, it was actually Lisicki, I think.
Wikipedia has that kind of information, look for it there. ;)

The numbers for aces are up until September 12. At that point, Lisicki and Gajdosova tied for 1st in aces.

Boy, they teach 'em how to serve in the Czech republic, don't they? Three Czechs in the top 10, and Kvitty has the fewest aces of the three. Is Hradecka a lefty too, like Petra and Lucie?

This page is generally updated every week, however it does not have a double fault list. It's where Meelis got those stats from. :)

Thanks. I remember someone did an ace and double fault list for 2009 on here. I wonder if he did one for this year.

Oh how this list has changed. Petrova was consistently topping this list, and Stosur was at the top last year as well. It's not like Stosur's serve got worse either.

Serenaaaaaa....:sobbing:

 Well she didn't play enough matches to be on this list. I'm sure if you looked at all the matches she actually played this year you would find she has the most aces per match on average.

I know...that's why I :sobbing: Serena not leading the aces list, means she didn't play much in a year.

There's no DF stats when I checked but I noticed stats for Maria Sharapova's ROS games were outstanding:
- Points won ret. first service: 1st at 44.1%
- Break points converted: 1st at 55.7%
- Points won ret. second service: 2nd 61.3% (trailing Clijsters at 61.6%)
- Return games won: 1st at 50.7%

If only she had a serve...

You'll be happy to know that Serena topped the service games won at 85.4% (Stosur is second at 80.2%, then Kvitova at 76.6%) and she also topped second service points won at 52.9% (Stosur is second at 52.2% and Kvitova third at 50.2%).

Interesting...clearly indicates that breaking serve only gets you sooo far, if you don't have a serve of your own.

"You're only as good as your second serve".

Accidentally neglected two other stat. Serena also topped:
- First service pts won at 76.7% (Sabine 2nd at 73.5%, and Hradecka 3rd  at 71.9%)
- Break points saved at 67.5% (Safarova 2nd at 63.7%, and Stosur 3rd at 63.1%)

So from these stats, the best server on tour is Serena, and best returner on tour is Maria.

Ah interesting...that's why I think Serena can still grab another major, as long as Stosur stays the hell away from her...:scared:

It's out of date.
Petra has played 71 matches as of today, not 56.

Actually 50% of that list are from the ex Czechoslovakia, amazing! Both Czech republic and Slovakia have amazing tennis schools :worship: The only other country producing so many good servers I can think of is Croatia but it's another story.
