People doubted it was a good place to organize YEC, but it turned out to be the best since I can remember! The attendance was awesome, despite little history this sport has over in Turkey, they've supported girls amazingly and the competition was exciting too.
Thank you Istanbul! :worship: Cya in 2012! :wavey:

I agree. It was great to see WTA event organized like that.

Beijing, Tokyo, Doha, Dubai, Moscow, Sydney and other tournaments should hire someone of Istanbul tournament organisation to help them

I totally agree. We all thought this Tournament would be crappy with no attendance, but they REALLY proved us wrong. I loved that Tournament, really, best YEC since a long time!! Doha was just terrible, that Tournament really should be cancelled instead of the indoor events.

I hope if possible Beijing and other places can lower the entrance fee down to $3

I was one of the most sceptical, but they really proved me wrong - the crowds and atmosphere were great all week.

I just hope the tournament organisers don't get greedy and massively raise ticket prices next year, which would probably result in sharp drops in crowd numbers

It was good!

But MSG will always be the best. Put it back there WTA! ;)

The fans came out & were into it. The linespeople did well.
Just change the color of the court so its more tv friendly.

I loved it when the YEC used to be held at the MSG. :awww:

The Monica/Martina final in 2000 was unforgettable.

Watching on tv, the atmosphere seemed great. Anyone actually go?? Even though I'd love to go to a slam (only been to Winbledon once many years ago) I often think the YEC would be awesome to go to - guaranteed to see the top players and a certain number of matches.
I started to recognise those line judges by the finals! Very few really bad calls, which was great.
Congrats to WTA and Istanbul!

This was one of the best YEC events in history. Generally high quality, intrigue abounding on and off the court, GREAT crowds who appreciated the good (most of the matches) and didn't appreciate the bad (Azarenka's tank-job in RR-3), the way a crowd should behave.

Very well done, Istanbul.

I was so skeptical when I read it was coming to Istanbul. I was like do people over there even like tennis? Well it seems they do. The stands were full. 110% better than that crapfest that was in Doha for years.

Really great atmosphere and it seemed like the fans were actually knowledgeable which was unexpected because there's little tennis history.

Wish it was still at Madison Square Garden though.

I thought that it would be quite similar to Doha, but it completely proved me wrong in that aspect. It excelled Doha in basically every department :)

It's not quite as good as the MSG days but it's more than I expected. Well done Istanbul :)

How much were tickets?

12 $upper parts , 25$ lower parts... (some says 3$ ! that's not true)

Tickets are cheap of course but I think that was a first year's marketing ,

I attended last two days, I really enjoyed it , We were waiting for years :)

Be our guests next year :)

25 USD is really cheap. You cant get a SW19 ground pass with 25 USD.

Doha was always such a creepy venue. It was a little like shipping 8 young attractive women to some Sheikh's pleasure yacht for a week; very few women were there besides the athletes, the men all dressed like oil Syndicate members, the playing conditions were a total change from the norm....

Un-comfortable, that's really all there is to say about that. Strange to have the YEC of the most important women's sport in the world in a city with 17th century attitudes towards women.

Istanbul is a definitely superior venue, both from the crowd perspective and the absence of an awkward society to drop female athletes into.

Yep by having the tickets at affordable prices they created a real stadium atmosphere and the calling was the best I've ever seen thoughout a tournament absolutely excellent. Would think of going myself next year was really great and it helped the level of tennis for the girls which was great to see!

Pwned Doha in every aspect.

YEC should always be indoors.

one of those people was me, i admit it. and i'm very happy i was so wrong and this event turned out to be a real winner. :yeah:
great line judges. and cute ball girls (who had to endure zvonareva's rudeness); i loved how the players walked onto court hand in hand with one of them.
