So I finally watched the premiere episode last night and I LOVED it! :hearts: What did you guys think?

I was a big fan of LOST and seeing as the main writers for that show now write for this show, it's no surprise that I enjoyed it! Plus, I love Disney so it was fun watching the show and trying to figure out the characters from my favorite childhood movies and stories from Snow White to Pinocchio to even Jiminy Cricket!

For those of you that haven't seen it yet, the first episode is on ABC.com/Hulu/etc. and here's the trailer:

Prince charming is hot. Jamie Dornan who plays the sheriff is hot. I read that Eion Bailey is going to be in too. Three hot guys are enough for me, i'm going to watch episode 2.

The scenes set in the modern world are good. The ones in fairytale land sometime verge on SNL parody. "We are going somewhere HORRIBLE! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

Pretty refreshing.:hearts:

Snow White is ok to me. But if she can have her hair made just like the actual Snow White in the story we know, it would definitely justify her being the choice for the role.:oh: The long hair just doesn't cut it.:oh:

I did and I think they really do the show like how they did "Lost". Flashbacks of the characters from their previous life in a "different world".

Snow White is NOT stunning. She's just cute. She's the only Disney Princess that has been "just" cute. Emile can be very beautiful is made up correctly.

I think Ginnifer looks better with the longer hair, though. And remember, they're not supposed to look like breathtaking beauties; they're on punishment ;)

I'm a straight guy and enjoy this show. I got into it because LOST was one of my all time favorite shows and I haven't picked up a new show in a while. So I decided to give this a try and I really enjoy it. It's just a fun theme. Fairy tales are a part of everyone's childhood pretty much, so we can all experience the theme of the show pretty positively I think.

Back on topic, I also think the Sherrif is the huntsman. It would explain the tryst with the evil queen. That means there has to be a Big Bad Wolf out there somewhere. And I enjoyed last week's episode. Nothing monumental happened plot wise, but it was interesting to throw some new characters into the mix. I really enjoyed how they tied together the traditional tales of Rumpelstiltskin and Cinderella to put a fresh spin on things.

Just good friends I think. Watching the episode, I initially thought they were brothers as well. But then I saw someone online point out that they don't share a real world connection. Wouldn't Shawn (Prince Thomas) and father have been looking for David (Charming) in the real world?

I think it'll be interesting as they introduce more royal characters. Will some be related, others rivals, etc. I personally liked the addition of Cinderella and Thomas to the cast. I kind of hope Charming does have a brother or sister out there. Or at least a cousin.

Julian.

I just can't, for the life me, understand why Emma would make a deal with Gold:shrug:
Yeah that seemed like the thing that throws shows for me - a lack of character continuity. Usually that happens over a few episodes but this one was in a few seconds. She tells Gold how his claim would never stick in court and that he probably has secrets he wouldn't want to come to light. She's clearly hit a nerve with him, he's on the defensive yet she then immediately back-tracks and makes a deal ??? Poor writing IMO.

pov
Nov 17th, 2011, 03:02 PM
because plot wise the producers need her to  somewhere near the end she will be face-to-face with some fateful decision to make!
You miss the point. Clearly it's part of the plot. However good writing sets it up so that the deal seems like something she was under pressure to do. It's not a difficult device. An off-the-cuff example.

Emma (confident): "That will never hold up in court. Plus, there are probably some things about your affairs that you'd like to not make public."
Gold ( smiling but obviously shaken and angry): "Yes. I'm sure. (musing) One can only hope that the baby will be safe while the court proceedings take place"

Simple. That sets up a clear motivation for her making a deal

Starting to dislike this series now.

Agree with what people have said about the last 2 episodes, both dreadful.

I know people suggested actresses should be cast on acting and not looks but how do you think Jamie Dornan was cast as sheriff, clearly not based on any level of acting ability. :o His character annoys the fuck out of me, its like Roma Downey in Touched By An Angel, a Northerner playing a Northerner despite no explanation as to why said character's accent isn't like everyone else's. I could rant forever about my dislike for him but I won't bother. But he seriously makes my skin crawl every time I see him on screen.

Jennifer Morrison is keeping me going and thats about it. Although I really wanna see more of Slutty Riding Hood.

Keck's Exclusives: Meet Once Upon a Time's Mulan

http://static.tvguide.com/MediaBin/Content/120820/News/5_fri/thumbs/120824mag-once-upon-a-time-chung1_210x305.jpg

Don't expect to see Mulan in a pretty getup when we first meet Disney's warrior princess in Once Upon a Time's September 30 premiere. She'll be armored up and battle-ready.

"I go on a journey with Prince Phillip to find his princess, Aurora," teases Mulan's portrayer, Jamie Chung (Sucker Punch). "There's this evil spirit that's moving and my character ends up bonding with Sleeping Beauty. And as you've heard, Captain Hook is joining us."

So might sword overpower hook? "Definitely," says Chung, who mastered her sword-wielding skills on ABC Family's Samurai Girl. "If you compare the size and length of my sword to his hook, who do you think has the longer reach?"

I didn't get the wraith thing. So they sent it to the other world..but wasn't it already there? I mean it killed Phillip..

That scene with Mulan, Phillip and Aurora when Philip kissed Aurora to wake him up happened during the time Snow, Emma, Charming and Regina were trying to send the wraith to the other world. So the timing was not parallel, the way they showed it. So when the wraith entered the hat, it appeared in Philip's world and that scene happened at the beginning right after Philip woke Aurora up. They did not see Snow and Emma the first time because they were hidden under the ruins.

So yeah, my understanding is that Charming and co. sent the wrath to another world through the hat and it appeared at Philip and co's place and unfortunately Phillip got marked immediately during that fight.

I hope that makes sense

Those two scenes happened simultaneously, but it would have been impossible to show them both occurring at the same time. You would have to use split-screen, Mario Kart style.

Yeah, but Rumpel said it would be to a different world, but that world where Mulan, Phillip and Aurora are is the same world as Cora's and Regina's

and she looks the same age as when she was pushed into the mirror by Regina. So maybe by different world, he meant time travel?

Mary Margaret is the most tepid character I have ever seen in a TV show. Just die already you useless sap.

Two episodes or so ago she grew balls and declared war and now she's just drowning herself in her own tears.

That black spot in her heart was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Why isn't Cora's pitch black?

 Are you watching the same show I am? Prior to the last few episodes she's been far more fiery than tepid. What you seem to have missed is that the ongoing onslaught was weighing on her - she's of pure heart . .well she was. No her overtly "non-tepid" act has corrupted her heart and . . .

BTW it's scary/interesting that non-violence makes you so uncomfortable that you react with "die already you useless sap."

She had to make a choice of whether to watch everyone she loved die or to kill evil in the form of Cora. This is the same woman who killed her mother and also killed that innocent maid. Where's justice for them if Mary did nothing? She'd be an even bigger wailer if she lost Charming altogether.

And what about the treatment Regina has given to her?

In the real world no one would ever put up with this much shit. But I guess she is Snow White.

I'm against violence and such but I hate it when people start begging and that last scene was pure selfishness from Snow. She doesn't want to live in the world for the things she did, but what will she do to her family once she's gone? Two episodes ago she was willing to do whatever it takes to save her family and this time when Rumple comes with news about Regina's revenge she looked like she could care less.

(Then again my desire of her to die could be due to me playing a lot of Starcraft 2 recently)

The Owen storyline however was amazing. The twist at the end. :sobbing:
The twist at the end wasn't even a twist. I called it from the beginning, otherwise the whole episode would have been for *nothing/irrelevant.

But I'm a bit confused with what Owen did: He of all people knows how terrible Regina is (especially what she did to him and his father), and yet somehow he calls her when Henry was missing and looking flustered. Surely there was someone else better he could have alerted..like the sheriff of Storybrooke?

I think he's gathering a bunch of evidence for blackmail or something, you know, trying to catch her with her hand in the cookie jar.

Kitsis & Horowitz, along with producers Zack Estrin and Jane Espenson, are developing a spinoff focusing on Lewis Carroll's Wonderland. The show will include new characters, such as "Amahl, described as exotic, soulful and optimistic; and The Knave, a sardonic adventurer, a man of action, a loner and a heart-breaker." On March 28, 2013, it was announced that Sophie Lowe would portray the lead role of Alice. It was also announced that Peter Gadiot would play her love interest, Cyrus, who has "a background". Michael Socha will portray the Knave of Hearts. It was also announced that the pilot is tentatively titled Once: Wonderland. A "teaser presentation" wlll begin shooting in April 2013, and should it be picked up to pilot will be shot in late July or August.

So, I follow this show loosely (meaning I clearly am missing quite a few of the minor *or major* details). One question I've always held is, why is Emma magical? Like, why/how does she possess powers?

Glad she's finally using her abilities.

Glad she's finally using her abilities.

I don't think it has been fully explained in details yet.

Mr Gold told Emma she was "the product of true love," which makes her powerful.

From Disney Wiki :spit:

Magic of True Love: As the result of True Love birth, Emma is capable of using magic. This magic was always with her, even though she was living in a world without magic. However when Mr. Gold brought magic to our world her magical powers were greatly enhanced. Her practice of the magical arts grants various powers, of which are known:

Immunity to Heart Removal:
In the universe of OUaT, witches and wizards are capable to use black magic to penetrate a person's chest and literally remove their hearts. While in possession of these hearts the witch is capable of controlling the person, which remains in a state of full health despite the removal of such a vital organ. Emma is however immune to this form of black magic and if a witch attempts to remove her heart they will be hit by an energy blast.

Lie Detection:
the power to detect if a person is lying. Emma used this power subconsciously on Earth, possibly due to the lack of magic.

I'm wondering and so confused on how come the England in Alice is set in Victorian time while the storybrooke in US is in current modern time? the timeline doesn't make sense? and the same thing with Wendy's England in Once Upon a time...

The Knave of Hearts travelled from modern Storybrooke US to England to save Alice but the Storybrooke is in current modern time and Alice's England is in Victorian time

Baelfire also arrived in our world in England during Victorian time when he met Wendy and then he grew up and moved to US and it's suddenly modern time..
