I know it's probably not correct in every way since only the best 16 results count, but nevertheless I think it gives a hint of who could become No 1, who could move up or who could drop some spots...)

(01) Wozniacki 3261 (6 tournaments)
(13) Clijsters 3030 (5)
(06) Zvonareva 2156 (7)
(05) Li 1882 (6)
(04) Azarenka 1776 (6)
(09) Bartoli 1553 (8)
(02) Sharapova 1500 (4)
(10) Petkovic 1420 (6)
(03) Kvitova 1337 (7)
(14) Jankovic 1286 (7)
(08) Radwanska 1116 (5)
(11) Schiavone 908 (7)
(15) Pavlyuchenkova 821 (7)
(07) Stosur 698 (6)
(12) Williams 0 (0)

Kvitova and maybe Sharapova will take the #1 spot from Caro hopefully.

This paints Woz's future pretty plainly... over 1/3rd of her points for the entire season are up to Miami. Watch her rapidly fall in the ranks as the first few months of next year conclude.

And you gotta love that Rena stat.... wonder which direction she is gonna go in the rankings? :tape:

Probably either Kvitova or Azarenka will more than cover their points to defend for this period by winning the YEC. (It's 1500, right?)

I'm hoping for a Kvitova win at AO or RG, so she'll have no rankings pressure at Wimbledon.

Chances are Caro will lose her ranking until the summer but if she picks up some steam during the season she can easily get it back in the second half of the season. Aside from New Haven & the USO SF she has virtually nothing to defend starting July.

Clijsters pretty much has to come out firing if she even has a chance of keep her ranking steady. Wozniacki too. Kvitova could sneak to that #1 come mid January.

Serena can just pick up point left and right all the way til next summer!

clijsters will be fine if she is fit, if not she will tumble but if she isn't fit you would expect that.

Once again, Ana will have a brilliant chance to get back to the top 10. Let's see what she does with that chance this time :hysteric:

With a brain transplantation in the off-season, her chances would be indeed very good next year :yeah:

The top 4 look to be in trouble and seem likely to suffer some substantial damage, at least in the short term. Of the rest, I'd say Vika, Petra, Serena and maybe Anastasia and Sam have the best chances to make some progress.

Don't worry she'll defend her Copenhagen points.

It makes me so mad to think what Maria could have done if she had done better in the US Open and in Istanbul (though I appreciate she was injured there)

She has about 200 points to defend before Indian Wells. She could have had a decent length run at number one, but now looks like she may even finish the year #4 if Petra and Vika continue their great form.

Really? 2500 points behind Petkovic. In between Lisicki and Serena, how have nothing to defend. When was the last time Ana had more than 4000 ranking points? Probably when she came crashing down from #1.:tape:

JJ will be able to play unlimited number of MMs  Maybe she will find her form again when she starts play more often ;)

If the injuries keep away Sabine could be top 10 by clay season. She has nothing to defend until Stuttgart, and after that-- Birmingham. Great opportunity for her. Hope she takes advantage!

we've been hearing this for two years now. it's not gonna happen as quickly as many people on this board wish.

Aga will probably enter top 5 by RG
not believable at all, Aga always finds a way to screw her opportunities.. just like yesterday :worship:
:worship:
after all, she did nothing to close the 1st set, and once Petra stopped making errors, it was all over

What a shame Tokyo and Beijing Aga decided to stay in Asia instead of coming to YEC
