View Full Version : Are Wozniacki and Azarenka no longer friends?

After what Caroline said about the grunting issue today it made me wonder. It seems like those comments were targeted at Azarenka and Sharapova. Of course, Azarenka says she will not stop. Stosur said that it doesn't bother her on court, but that it sounds terrible on TV.

Vika grunts in practice. All the time.
Wozniacki gave herself an out by talking about people who don't do it in practice.

Wozniacki tweeted a picture of her and vika out to dinner 40 days ago..They haven't tweeted eachother since.

I guess time will tell if they are still friends, my guess is they still are.

I don't think they would stop being friends until Vika wins a slam. :p

Every time I've seen her practice in person/on tape (and Wickmayer for that matter, for everyone who complains about her) she's grunting. Media has said that too.

Why on earth wouldn't they be friends because of that?

They're adults, you know. They were not bred from GM.

They've been tweeting back and forth a while ago and recently practiced together in Monaco. Friends can have different opinions on stuff, you know?

By the way, Caro's twitter activity is probably the last thing to judge anything that's going on with her, she has recently gotten pretty lazy with tweeting, often there's nothing for several days in a row. Not everyone puts everything they do on Twitter ;)

if they are no longer friends because of something caroline said about grunting then it wasnt a very strong freindship in the first place. caroline would probably be better off without a friend who would dump her for that anyway

however my guess is vika isnt that sensitive and they still are

I saw how Caro & Aga hugged after their match this week.
Caro & Vika are also very close. Watch those tapes from the exo they played a year ago.
They're very close friends.

well it doesnt take long for women to get catty...Caro is not playing well these days and is probably paying for the heavy schedule she played in 2010.I see Azarenka having a better career than Caro and thats when professional jealousy will come into play.

And you read all this into an answer from Caroline that specifically excluded Vika? Wow...

Is that the reason why Na has played like CRAP in last 3/4 months ?

Did she specifically exclude Vika?

She says that grunting is bad for the sport and should be banned etc, except for Azarenka because she's her friend?

That really adds credit to her stance

No, she finds fault in people who don't in practice and do in matches.

Well if your going to use such a tactic during matches, why wouldn't you do it in practice? It makes no sense to practice differently to how you would behave during the match.

Whether they scream (please don't call it "grunting") or not in practice doesn't alter that, under any sane interpretation of the hindrance rule, this should result in the point automatically going to the opponent.

And here we go again with the hindrance. Let it go, people, let it go.

No, she specifically talked about players who don't do it while practicing...which does not apply to Vika.

1 - It's not a "tactic"
2 - practice = matchplay? Really?

Which conveniently excludes Vika.

Why should it matter if they do it in practice as well as matches? They are still grunting during the match.

So player A should be allowed to grunt during her match because she does it in practice while player B is not allowed because she doesn't during practice?

Its still the same hindrance during the match whether they do it in practice or not. You can't just exclude certain players based on dubious criteria.

No, that they don't do it in practice is proof that they can stop it if they want. Vika can argue that it is impossible for her to stop and it's hard to prove wrong.
