I don't mean to put a downer on things, but there's no actual guarantee that Venus will play. It depends on how she feels at the time. Right now, her treatment is going well and she's feeling better but that doesn't equate to her actually feeling up for it early January.

I hope I'm wrong, and I'll gladly see Venus test the waters.

I have a great feeling for her next January... Reminds me a bit of Serena 2007... Serena played a small event in Hobart to get used to some match-play and from then on rocking the Australian Open with a really bad ranking!!!

New stadium? Is it too different? I liked the old one.

Its not too different. Just the stand upgrades, most of which were there for 2011. But now there's awesome facilities attached to the place stadium- like a whole fitness and health club which looks fantastic (bought a membership for next year). Its pretty top notch and the completeness makes the stadium look much nicer, not so gross because it wraps around two sides. Theres also a bunch more tennis courts, not sure if they were always there including a few indoor and roof ones which will make for some nice practice.

To be honest playing the hostile enviroment of the summer Australian Swing is not a good idea, especially if you can get tired/lose enercy more quickly as Venus.

She should point on playing something like the Hopman Cup and some indoor events in February.. To start her season..

Anyway she will know better. I hope she does well.

Since fatigue is an issue now, playing either of those would have been stupid as it would leave her tired quicker for AO. Leaves us with Brisbane and Auckland since she knows she needs match play. Brisbane is a Premier, has Serena and other tough opponents. While Auckland allows her the chance to ease her way back in against lower ranked players and find some form heading into Melbourne.
