View Full Version : Bold Prediction: Sam Stosur Will Win YEC 2011

Before you all say I'm stupid, Stosur sucks indoors etc, please hear me out because I really think she is going to win this.

Recently, Stosur has won the US Open. Her form is good, possibly the best out of everyone since Wimbledon, she is full of confidence. Yesterday, she got her first win over Sharapova which is the toughest thing to do in women's tennis currently, not to mention that she is her bitch. With this win, it shows that Stosur's confidence has skyrocketed to an all-time high and she is now a different animal.

When Stosur is on, only Kirilenko can beat her. However, this is the YEC and Kirilenko hasn't qualified. Li is her bitch so she will definitely get another win and advance to the semis. From the other group, I can only see Kvitova giving her problems. However, Stosur just beat Sharapova, so she is now unstoppable and can certainly beat Kvitova who is a very erratic player.

Hence, nobody will be Stosur's match this YEC and she will definitely win the tournament. Just give the trophy to her already! You all heard it here first!

Probably the only player that likes the court

Thanks for the jinx.

Sam has a tough road to win this YEC, and as a fan, I still struggle seeing her winning it all. Yes, the court seems to be helping her at this stage, and her defence looked good, but she still has to play at her very best, and I don't know if beating Sharapova is going to automatically do that, even if it was a great achievement.

Let us not forget, she still has Azarenka and Kvitova to worry about. ;)

(...But I do hope your prophecy comes true. )

Wasn't it supposed to be the "Snow Maria and the 7 dwarfs" prior to the YEC?

Would like to see a Stosur-Kvitova final, as think that could be a great match with lots of power. Sam is playing the best tennis of her life right now... and what has impressed me the most, is that she's learned how to control/hit a backhand now. She has always had problems with Maria, but she dominated her yesterday. Good to see her playing like this.

Sam's shown she's a legitimate contender, but she's still got it all to do. After last night, I no longer believe anybody is anybody's bitch, so really the YEC is still wide open. But, as a Sam fan, I hope you're right of course! :)

By beating Sharapova in straight sets her chances to advance from her group have certainly increased. She must feel very confident now. But I do not believe she will win the tournament, if only because you 'boldly predicted' it.

Everyone sucks right now at the moment , maybe Kvitova is the exception, so Stosur may end up winning the whole thing

Didn't you also say that Maria would win Wimbledon and Venus would win the USO?

If Sam keeps the form she showed yesterday, she will win the YEC.
The combination of heavy spin and slice balls is very effective.
The serves are excellent in speed, angle and spin/slice variation.
And this surface seems to suit Sam's tennis definitely.

this would've been a lot bolder had it been made before she beat Pova :lol::lol:

I'm not a Caroline fan, but I thought the match against Aga was really good and have a feeling she is the one to beat. Maria blew the Sam match but Aga played really well and, whether you like her style of play or not, Caroline found the way to come through. Just a feeling like the OP's!

Kvitova and Azarenka are still top favorites for the win and I'm almost certain they will be in the final.

Only if she avoids both Azarenka and Kvitova (if she makes the semis) which seems unlikely.
