Information
The 12 singles players will be divided into 3 groups of 4 each. The winners qualify for the semi-finals, along with the best runners-up. Tie-break rules are linked in this post. (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=20334598&postcount=34)
The winner of the White group plays the best runner-up, unless the two are from the same group; in that case winner of the Red group plays the runner-up. The other semi-final is played between the two other group winner.
The 8 doubles teams will be divided into 2 groups of 4 each. The semi-final sees the winner of each group play the runner-up in the other.
The round robin will be played Tuesday through Thursday; there will then be a break before the semi-final on Saturday and Sunday.
If a player or team doesn't send, they will be replaced by an alternate. Players may, if they wish, also send points to be used against the alternates; otherwise the points against the original opponent will be used.
Alternates can play Bali if they do not play a match here. Only two alternates will be on site; they will be replaced in ranking order, the highest ranked who does not send replaced by the highest ranked alternate.
The live group draw will follow shortly.
Points deadline: Tuesday 18:00 Norway time (+2 GMT)
Everyone must send new points to SamR03A (http://www.tennisforum.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=62546). Also, players must send new points for the knockouts (between Thursday and Saturday)
Players/teams may send different points for each opponent in their group.

Chantal Chan's Monday Blog

Hi everyone, it's Chantal from the beautiful Istanbul!! :) Feel sad today as there was a disastrous earthquake in the east Turkey:sad:, i really wish all the best for people there and i want you all to support them by donating money to them!

Time for some party stuff! It's always nice to hang around with other players in the season-ending party, as all of us were well-dressed instead of wearing sporty outfits on courts!! We put our competitions aside and had such a wonderful time, great wine, players looking-good and traditional Turkish cuisine, that certainly made a great party!! Let me give you guys a summary on what other players do: :bounce:

Nthamangela looked so pissed off (because of the YEC drama) and destroyed some chairs in the party when she was drunk :tape:, but generally she looked gorgeous and she even brought her husband, who was quite an eye candy.

Veterans Ruflina, Sabine and Marteena, alongside Rufline's doubles partner Jennifer, chatted with one another in a very happy mood.

But on the other side, Vittoria, being so frustrated as her direct place was stolen at the very last minute, by Sabine's dream run, drunk wine all the time and even planned an assault on Sabine!! Only was she stopped by her kind doubles partner, Anastasia, who looked stunning in her traditional Turkish dress.

Me, Jane, Ziyi and Cristina hung around in another corner, but my lovely doubles partner was still disappointed about her form this year and keep being annoying... I hope she can get it together here and feel better about herself. BTW, this is my dress at the party, isn't it gorgeous?

http://the-sun.on.cc/cnt/entertainment/20110423/photo/0423-00470-030b9.jpg

Our player representative this week, Cornelia, was busy talking with the businessmen attending the party, i must say Coco, you have done such a wonderful job assisting the operation of this tournament!! :worship:

Best-dressed players today go to Ella and Elise, they simply have the flawless bodies, they look so hot that every men were glazing on them!! (Hate it...)

Harper and Siri were still discussing strategies on how to defeat Jennifer and Ruflina on one side, with Siri being quite sad about not qualifying for the singles tournament, in which she did so well last year.

Jookarae was the scene-stealer of this evening, as she just kept singing on the stage... But it didn't matter as she had such a terrific voice!!! Clair and Elena was on the other side playing cards with each other.

Oh wait, where's Pamela, our world No.1?? Ouch, she was still practicing right before the party and she attended the party wearing sweaty clothes, how determined was she...

And WTH was that??? Luna-Willow was here, eating all the cakes:o, get help girl...

That's a wrap up of what was going on at the party!! I will start practicing tomorrow and i hope i can bring my best form this week, this year simply has been such an unexpected year for me as i played a lot better than i expected, reaching the top 10 this week certainly boosted my confidence!! (Nobody can compete against me for the Newcomer of the Year!!) BTW, good luck to all other players!! ;)

Bye for now, and looking forward to blogging this week. :bounce:

Nthama and Vittoria battling for the YEC title of drunk girls :hearts:

Nthama decided not to care about results here at the YEC and to focus on the parties instead... with Luna, Coco, Jane, Ziyi and Vittoria, so many of her best friends are here. Luna and Viti do not even have to play singles, so let's focus on da parddyyy!!!

Harper Johnson is incredibly thrilled to have qualified into both the Singles and Doubles Year End Championship events.

"I'm very sad that Siri (Cornetsson} didn't make it into singles. But, I'm so happy she's here with me in doubles. And, she's agreed to practice with me while I'm here. So, that's amazing. She's an incredible player and a very good friend. It's good to have her here."

"It's been an amazing season for me after 2010. It's great to be back at the YEC as I didn't qualify last year, so I'm really looking forward to play. I havea tough group coming up, but I'll go match by match. It's great to be part of this season, especially as I'm here with Ruffy. It's amazing what we did this year, winning two GS titles and so many more titles - and she has always supported me through the whole season and I'm looking forward to 2012 when we're going to partner each other at every tournament"

Blue Group, doubles: [2]Cornetsson/Johnson def. [3]Wong/Zianzhi 6/2, 7/5
It was a surprisingly easy start for the top seeds in this group, who were not broken once in their way to a potentially important 2-0 win.

Yellow Group, doubles: [7]Chan/Vladimirescu def. [1]Casanova/Taliamanosoko 0/6, 6/2, 7/6(3)
Ruffy and Jen started this according to plan, but the teens were incensed by the first-set humiliation and fought back spectacularly.

Red Group, singles: [11]Cornelia du Preez def. [6]Harper Johnson 7/5, 6/3
The Dome crowd didn't quite get the exciting contests, as Cornelia took a big step towards a semi-final by beating the Roland Garros finalist. It was Cornelia's fourth win over Harper this season, all the other three were in North America.

Blue Group, doubles: [5]Felivitch/Mésane def. [8]Nemayeva/Pérez 6/3, 7/6(3)
The doubles tournament has started with feisty matches; Vittoria looked very determined despite losing the first set, and the younger players had chances, but solid serving brought it home for Ella and Elise in the tie-break.

Yellow Group, doubles: [6]McKrain/Skankhova def. [4]Graf/Huubere 7/5, 1/6, 6/2
Six doubles titles versus 74. Sabine fresh off sweeping the title in Moscow. The odds on Clair and Elena taking this, despite their equally good form from Luxembourg, were very low indeed. But Sabine and Marteena didn't really turn up in the third set, and thus face an uphill climb in a group turned on its head.

Straight set win for Siri/Harper.

Håkon
Oct 25th, 2011, 09:49 PM
Violet Group, singles: [7]Jennifer Casanova def. [5]Ella Felivitch 7/6(3), 1/6, 6/3
The evening session - or morning session for American viewers - began with Ella throwing away a good position. Like in the US Open third round, where she won in straight sets en route to the title, she was the strongest player and won most points in the first two sets, but Jennifer broke to 2/0 in the third and never looked back.

White Group, singles: [10]Sabine Graf def. [9]Chantal Chan 0/6, 6/4, 6/3
Sabine still looked tired from the doubles in the first set, but dug deep and served immaculately, not giving Chantal a sniff of a chance in the final two sets.

Red Group, singles: [2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko def. [8]Jookkarae Mensarb 5/7, 7/6(2), 7/5
A high-quality, see-saw encounter where an agile Ruffy eventually gained the upper hand. This was Ruffy's fifth straight win over Jook, the last four have been in three sets.

Violet Group, singles: [3]Zianzhi Ziyi def. [12]Cristina-Elena Vladimirescu 7/5, 6/7(5), 7/6(5)
Another great match and one which had the TV producers in serious quandaries about which one to broadcast. The tie-break saw a slice-battle - almost table-tennis-like - in Vladimirescu's serve at 5/6, before Zianzhi stepped round with a cross-court forehand to win the match on her fourth match point.

White Group, singles: [1]Pamela Bowden def. [4]Nthamangela Mbangu-Žerić 2/6, 6/4, 6/4
And finally, the day concluded with the only top-4 match-up the round-robin session will give us; Pamela showed the determination which has made her a two-time Slam champion, turning around a 0-3 head-to-head, while Mbangu took unusually many bathroom breaks to somewhat spoil the encounter between the doubles partners.

Chantal Chan's Tuesday Blog

Hello everyone, it's Chantal here at the beautiful Istanbul!! :D

Played my first matches today, got a terrific win in doubles but lost in singles, overall it was a good start for me!! The match against Jennifer and Ruffy was such a thriller:eek:, as me and Cristina defeated them in Moscow and we were kind of scared if they had a strong desire of a revenge, but luckily our strategy worked and we were able to defeat them in three sets. I hope Cristina would be pumped up by this amazing match!! In singles, i lost to Sabine again, but for this time:sad:, in quite an ugly fashion. Since i had so many opportunities after bagelling her, i failed to capitalize all other chances, despite this heart-breaking loss, i still think i am in a good shape and i hope i can do better tomorrow!!

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/62/Cacik.jpg/220px-Cacik.jpg
After the tennis, me and my team went to a traditional Turkish restaurant to grab some food, we ate the famous Turkish yoghurt, Cacik and Aryan drink. They were so unique that i totally love them!! For those who don't know, the English word yoghurt actually derives from the Turkish word yogurt, so we players were so lucky to have the chance to taste these yummy and original yoghurt!! The locals were so friendly that they offered us 50% discounts, that's benefits for tennis players!! :bounce:

However, after having dinner and on our way going back to hotel, we saw Vittoria and Nthamangela being expelled by some security at a bar, these two party all day long, i think they probably scared the people in the bar with such fierce behaviour., you know what happened at the players' party...:help: I hope they can do something more meaningful instead. That's pretty much a wrap of what happened today, and i have received questions from some fans, here are my answers to your questions:

How would you describe your 2011 season? From Jennifer (Munich, Germany)

Thanks Jenny! 2011 simply has been an amazing season for me, as this is the first year i join the FWTT tour, and i already have had a lot of success. Winning titles in both singles and doubles and reaching top 10 last week, these are the two things you would never expect a newcomer would do in her first pro season. Generally i feel really satisfied with my performance this season, being able to play at YEC now simply is the highlight for my 2011 season, and that definitely proves that i have potentials to achieve more, so i hope i can carry such momentum to 2012 and do even better!

Who is your favourite singers? From Jacky (Beijing, China)

Thanks Jacky for this wonderful question! I love listenting to both Chinese and Western music, and i do have some favourite singers/bands, for Western musicians like Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Florence and the Machine, One Republic and Nicki Minaj, and Chinese singers like A-mei, A-Lin, JJ Lin, Stefanie Sun and Tanya Chua, listening to their music certainly helps me relax after training and intense matches. Right now i am listening Nicki's "Fly".

What has been your favourite destination? From Sanja (Belgrade, Serbia)

Thanks Sanja for the question!! :worship:I really do love travelling around the world, and i am lucky that i have a lot of chance to do so as a tennis player. Among all the places i have visited, i love Rome the most, as i love Italian cuisine, and the history, architecture and fashion there are simply magnificent, i really do love the profile picture i took for Facebook when i was in the Colosseum. :hearts: So i am very looking forward to playing there again next year!!

Thanks guys for all the amazing support, will write another blog tomorrow!!

:wavey:

Love,
Chantal

Yellow Group, doubles: [1]Casanova/Taliamanosoko def. [4]Graf/Huubere 7/6(0), 6/4
In this match of the favourites in the Yellow Group, Ruffy and Jen showed off all their experience to boss the match and maintain a chance of qualification.

Yellow Group, doubles: [6]McKrain/Skankhova def. [7]Chan/Vladimirescu 7/5, 7/6(5)
Clair and Elena win in straight sets, making it nearly impossible to be knocked out. After a good start for Chantal and Cristina, they couldn't do it on the big poitns today.

Violet Group, singles: [5]Ella Felivitch def. [3]Zianzhi Ziyi 6/4, 2/6, 7/5
Ella maintains her grip on Ziyi - this was her fifth successive win over the Chinese, who is still her continent's #1 despite the challengers popping up. However, today she seemed very touchy on the big points. Both players now have one win each and need a straight set win tomorrow.

Blue Group, doubles: [8]Nemayeva/Pérez def. [2]Cornetsson/Johnson 1/6, 7/6(5), 6/3
Vittoria threw away all nerves after the pair were broken three times in the first set, playing a high-risk, high-reward game that has put them back in contention.

Violet Group, singles: [7]Jennifer Casanova def. [12]Cristina-Elena Vladimirescu 5/7, 7/6(6), 6/4
Cristina was very, very close to a straight sets win here, which would have put her first going into the final day, but instead Jennifer celebrated her second win of the day and had a very good chance of qualifying. Another set would probably be necessary tomorrow, though.

Red Group, singles: [8]Jookkarae Mensarb def. [11]Cornelia du Preez 7/6(1), 6/2
Jook was pessimistic about her own chances, but had no reason to be; Cornelia barely squeaked into a tie-break, where she was monster-powered out of the match, and whimpered back to an outsider position.

Blue Group, doubles: [3]Wong/Zianzhi def. [5]Felivitch/Mésane 7/5, 3/6, 7/5
Lots of interesting net tennis in this one, where Ziyi got revenge for the morning's result; the group has four teams tied on one win and thus tomorrow's matches are straight quarter-finals.

Red Group, singles: [6]Harper Johnson def. [2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko 6/3, 0/6, 6/3
Harper took her chance to fight in this group despite getting bagelled against an opponent who had won seven of the last eight between the two; however, she needs a straight sets win, alternatively that Ruflina to win tomorrow, in order to qualify.

White Group, singles: [4]Nthamangela Mbangu-Žerić def. [9]Chantal Chan 6/4, 6/3
Another quick match in the smaller court, where the public didn't quite get their money's worth. Chantal had the crowd behind her after outstanding media work, but Nthama got many rounds of applause for her fine play.

White Group, singles: [10]Sabine Graf def. [1]Pamela Bowden 6/4, 3/6, 7/5
Sabine brushed off the doubles defeat with a narrow, but good win here; she only had one break point against the #1 in the final two sets, but used it well, and has the best record in the tournament.

Red group:
[8]Jookkarae Mensarb 1-1 3-2 31-27 2075
[2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko 1-1 3-3 31-30 3290
[11]Cornelia du Preez 1-1 2-2 21-21 1855

[3]Zianzhi Ziyi 1-1 3-3 35-33 2795

Doubles - first match

Yellow group, doubles: [4]Graf/Huubere def. [7]Chan/Vladimirescu 7/6(0), 7/6(0)
Chantal and Cristina were still dejected after yesterday, and the tie-breaks were a bit awkward. Thus, Sabine and Marteena escape with some pride, while the young debutants will surely come back strongly.

Yellow group, doubles: [1]Casanova/Taliamanosoko def. [6]McKrain/Skankhova 7/6(11), 6/4
A wildly dramatic tie-break with four set points either way, which eventually went to Jennifer and Ruffy - 13/11. With the set in the bag, and Cristina and Chantal losing, the #1s were qualified, and went on to win the second set and qualify in first place.

Yellow group:
[1]Casanova/Taliamanosoko 2-1 5-2 40-33 5075
[6]McKrain/Skankhova 2-1 4-3 38-37 2635

Blue group, doubles: [2]Cornetsson/Johnson def. [5]Felivitch/Mésane 4/6, 7/6(2), 6/4
Siri was broken early on, but the AO champions and 2009 finalists set to work quietly. Not fazed by the loss of sets and a break lead in the second set wasted, they triumphed in the tie-break and steered it to an easy win.

Blue group, doubles: [3]Wong/Zianzhi vs. [8]Nemayeva/Pérez 6/3, 7/5
Nastya and Vittoria had the fighting mindset, but nothing much else seemed to work on the court. Jane and Ziyi played very well together, and now goes on to play Clair and Elena, who are the only non-top-4 team in the semi-finals.

Blue group:
[2]Cornetsson/Johnson 2-1 5-3 45-37 4295
[3]Wong/Zianzhi 2-1 4-3 34-33 3210
[5]Felivitch/Mésane 1-2 4-4 41-40 2789

Red group, singles: [2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko vs. [11]Cornelia du Preez 7/6(4), 6/2
Bookmaker odds shortened remarkably on du Preez before the match - the South African was 2-0 head-to-head with her older mentor - and the Tennis Integrity Unit may have to be involved; or possibly Asian mafia, given that the result didn't go the way the odds intended. Du Preez goes out having lost four straight sets after her initial upset, while Ruffy had to wait for her fate to be determined.

White group, singles: [9]Chantal Chan def. [1]Pamela Bowden 7/5, 6/4
Chantal put on a fine display of hitting on the other court, simply muscling Pamela out of the tournament. With a runner up from the Red group already on two wins, neither of these players could qualify with this result.

Red group, singles: [6]Harper Johnson def. [8]Jookkarae Mensarb 7/5, 1/6, 6/2
Harper knew the result of the earlier match had gone her way, but didn't look particularly comfortable during the first two sets; however as Jook started to hit things outside instead of inside the line, Harper pounced, and won the group despite a meagre set and game ratio. Ruffy will have a few more nervy hours.

White group, singles: [10]Sabine Graf def. [4]Nthamangela Mbangu-Žerić 7/6(2), 7/6(5)
Sabine has been the outstanding player in singles in this tournament, and continued today with great play in the tie-breaks; Nthama was perhaps slightly better before the tie-breaks but never consolidated the few breaks she got and hits Istanbul town in desperate search of alcohol heads home to take care of her kids.

Women's singles semifinals:
Sabine Graf vs. best runner-up.
Harper Johnson vs. violet group winner.

Håkon
Oct 27th, 2011, 11:11 PM
Violet group, singles: [3]Zianzhi Ziyi def. [7]Jennifer Casanova 7/5, 6/4
With the straight set results on centre court, this match began first - a classic of FWTT with four wins for each player, though none of them on the really big stage. Casanova's coach seemed to have most faith, but yet it was Ziyi who provided the finest display of all-round tennis - serve, net play, angles and retrieving. A fully deserved straight sets victory, but Ziyi still needed Ella not to win by too much against Cristina to qualify; meanwhile, Jennifer goes out as she can not better Ruflina's set record.

Violet group, singles: [12]Cristina-Elena Vladimirescu def. [5]Ella Felivitch 6/4, 0/6, 7/5
Ella has been playing good tennis all autumn, and thought she had a read on Cristina following the quarter-final in Beijing three weeks ago. However, with Ziyi dominating in the other hall, Ella needed a straight sets win to qualify - which was dashed in the first set. Undaunted, she played for the ranking points, but it was Cristina who triumphed despite the bagel.

Red group:
[6]Harper Johnson 2-1 4-4 36-38 2355
[2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko 2-1 5-3 44-38 3440
----------------------------------------------------------
[8]Jookkarae Mensarb 1-2 4-4 44-41 2090
[11]Cornelia du Preez 1-2 2-4 29-34 1870
White group:

----------------------------------------------------------
[4]Nthamangela Mbangu-Žerić 1-2 3-4 38-35 2605
[9]Chantal Chan 1-2 3-4 33-33 2015
[1]Pamela Bowden 1-2 3-5 38-43 3885
Violet group:
[3]Zianzhi Ziyi 2-1 5-3 48-42 2845
----------------------------------------------------------
[7]Jennifer Casanova 2-1 4-4 40-47 2315
[12]Cristina-Elena Vladimirescu 1-2 4-5 48-53 1835
[5]Ella Felivitch 1-2 4-5 45-41 2476

Women's semi-finals:
[10]Sabine Graf vs. [2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko
[3]Zianzhi Ziyi vs. [6]Harper Johnson

New points may be sent to me, semi-finals in 45 hours. Thank you :hatoff:

But shoudln't I be in the semis? As I understood the system, 5 players could qualify for the semifinals:

Harper, Ruffy, Sabine, Ziyi and Jennifer.

Sabine hast the best record.
Both Ziyi and Ruffy are 5-3 in sets.

So it's down to me and Harper. We're both 4-4, but I won more games (40-47); or did I get something wrong?

Unfortunately, the way it goes is that head-to-head decides the internal ranking in the group, and then the runners-up are compared across groups.

As Harper wins her group, Jennifer is compared with Ruffy, and loses.

(Also, it's the games ratio - not games won - that counts. So in any case you would have lost to Harper.)

So you mean the head-to-head agains Harper or Ruffy decided it?

Because I lead Harper 3-2 and I'm tied with Ruffy 5-5.

Or because I was compared to Ruffy and she won more sets than I did?

That one.

Harper beat Ruffy head to head and therefore won the Red group. You lost to Ziyi and therefore you are runner-up in the Violet. Then the three runners-up are compared, Nthama only won one match so goes out, you won a lower percentage of sets than Ruffy and thus also go out.

Clear? Or should I repeat in German? ;)

Head-to-head outside this tournament doesn't matter.

Hi guys, it's Chantal!! Had a terrific win aginast Pamela, who is the World No.1, and what a way to end my 2011 season!!! :bounce: Lost to Sabine and Marteena earlier in the day in doubles, and fail to obtain even one point in both tiebreaks. So now i am officially out of the YEC, but it has really been an outstanding and memorable experience, since the atmosphere here has been terrfic and the Turkish people are so nice to us players. :yeah: Beating the World no.1 to end 2011 certainly is a great motivation for me to do a lot of hard work during the off-season, i am really expecting some good things in 2012 and my goal will be to reach top 5!! Mark my words, Chantal will be back for more!! :fiery:

I also went to Grand Bazaar, the largest covered markets in the world, you know, we girls adore shopping, so i spent nearly three hours to do it and i am full of souvenirs now!! The shopkeepers are so nice that they were easy to bargain with, i think i saved nearly half of the total price of all the goods i bought!! :worship:

I also went to the Galata Tower, a medieval stone tower in which you can see the panoramic view of the whole Istanbul!! There is also a famous restaurant on top of the tower. I went there at night so the view was especially spectacular, the history, the magnificent and the unique Istanbul was fully seen by me!! And i simply couldn't forget how amazing this place is and i really would like to thank the FWTT Tour for allowing us players to play at such a wonderful place!! :worship::kiss:

Time for some funny things around us players!! Probably Halloween is about to come, after the end of play of today, we players were called to go to the convention hall of our hotel, and it didn't take us long to realize that the tour organizers were going to do some scary things to us. :tape: But before i enter the hall, there were only 6 of us players, including me Chantal, Sabine, Marteena, Jennifer, Ruflina and Ziyi. When i was figuring where were the rest of players, suddenly Cristina, who dressed up like a witch, padded on my shoulders, and it was totally scary!!!!!! The tour threw this Halloween party for all of us players to enjoy a good time before some of us leave tomorrow, how sweet!! Then i saw Coco and Jane dressing like zombies, Harper and Siri being scary fairies, Jookkarae being a mummy, Ella and Elise being the Cullens, McKrain and Skankhova wore pumkins-inspired gowns, Pamela dressing like a Frankenstein, and the most frightening one goes to Nemayeva, who dressed up like the bride from Tim Burton's Corpse Bride!!
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/zh/thumb/5/53/Corpse_bride.jpg/220px-Corpse_bride.jpg

We all had a wonderful time tonight and ate a lot of pumkins, except for two alcoholic and troubled players, Vittoria and Nthamangela were playing hide-and-seek in the hotel and ended up sleeping in the swimming pool, oh boy...

It's really nice to blog in this week and i enjoyed a lot, i wish all the best to the players who advance to the semifinals and the rest too, and i hope i can have my goals achieved!! See you in 2012!!

With lots of love, :kiss::wavey:

[2]Cornetsson/Johnson def. [6]McKrain/Skankhova 6/0, 0/6, 7/6(4)
What a bizarre match to start us off. Siri has ended the season on a high note, and the mental strength she and Harper showed here could be key in the final.

[3]Wong/Zianzhi def. [1]Casanova/Taliamanosoko 6/4, 4/6, 7/6(11)
It could have been a replay of the 2009 final, but Ziyi wanted this final badly after the autumn season had not gone as she wanted; she and Jane saved four match points before clinching the match with an ace from Jane's racket. Taliamanosoko will not win her fifth doubles championship.

[3]Ziyi Zianzhi def. [6]Harper Johnson 3/6, 6/4, 7/5
Ziyi was the unlucky player who had to play back-to-back - with so many players in both singles and doubles, that's what happens. Nevertheless, she had energy in the tank for another big performance, and though Harper had her chances, she will have to wait for the doubles final for revenge.

[2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko vs. [10]Sabine Graf 7/5, 6/4
34 singles titles. 3 singles majors. 18 major titles. 24 matches between them. The match-up of legends had been saved until the very end, and though it was a straight setter, it was a close match with entertaining tennis. Neither player gave an inch on serve, and it took remarkable returning to break - a classic.

And in singles -- I can't believe I beat the epic Sabine. There was a combined 66 years in age on the court as well! ;) And now against Ziyi -- a great final -- #2 vs. #3. :D

Doubles Final, Result

[3]Wong/Zianzhi def. [2]Cornetsson/Johnson 6/2, 3/6, 7/6(9)
Jane and Ziyi have indeed been awesome after the US Open, and rounded it off by eking out this one - as a good final, it could really have gone either way, but someone had to take it out - and an unreturnable serve from Jane sealed it.

Singles Final, Result

[3]Zianzhi Ziyi def. [2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko 2/6, 7/5, 7/5
Having played two hours earlier this morning didn't daunt Ziyi, who yet again had the better of Ruffy - this time by coming back from a beatdown in the first set. Ruffy was also a break up in the second, but didn't really seem quite as hungry, and Ziyi ate her serves in the final stages. The win also puts Ziyi five points ahead of Ruffy in the new rankings!

Er, this needs to be corrected. Ruffy got 200 points more than I thought.

The top three

1) Bowden 3,885
2) Taliamanosoko 3,645
3) Zianzhi 3,445
