Anabel arrives in San Diego

Today anabel arrived in the US for her Hardcourt swing, in recent weeks anabels form has dropped so what can she realistically hope for in the coming weeks here are her thoughts.

'I am so excited to be in the US, lots of very nice bachelours for me to get with'

what about your fiancee the 80 something year old?

'I ended it I do not want to be a golddigger so its over hes old news'

How long did the relationship last?

'2 weeks'

ok.... you not been playing to well in the singles recently but doubles is much better what are you thoughts?

'Singles is not going to well but I lost early at wimbledon and copenhagen but I will do better this week you will see, I love doubles with anna she is so nice and funny we get on really well she played awesome last week and we managed to get to the final but we lost this week we will go one better'

Well thank you anabel got any plans today?

'I am hitting the bar I need many vodka and cranberries and sometimes just vodka I hope that some players will come out with me maybe vania, venus, yari, maybe Nadia she said we might go for dinner'.

The Singles Draw and Doubles Draw will be coming up later today/this evening! I planned on getting it done yesterday, but I had and still have only received 5 points out of about 17 players, so waiting for people to send points still :)

If no one has sent points by this evening, then I guess the people who have sent points will have a good chance of winning this tournament! ;)

World leaders arrived.

Anna Chakvetadze and Nadia Petrova, both finalists from last week, arrived to San Diego. Anna Chakvetadze which reached final in doubles on her previous tournament was in really good mood.

I was really good week. I have a lot of fun with Anabel during tournament in Copenhagen. Anabel is really good girl, maybe she's bit too open to new relationships, but yes, she's really nice.

Anna also confirmed what are the new goals at the end of the season.

I wanna win another slam title and confirmed that I'm better than other girls. I know there are a lot of rumors, that I'm not real umber one, because I didn't win another big title outside Australia. But I'm sure I'll be favorite to win in New York.

Less talkative was her friend from the Beesley's team, Nadia Petrova. Nadia, which lost her final in Budapest, is 2nd in world ranking. With title in Budapest she was able to reduce gap to world leader, Anna.

Get lost!!!

A lot of her fans tried to get autographs from her, but she dismissed all of them with statement:

Thank you all for coming to see me at this airport. I hope you'll watch me during my first match here in San Diego.

http://www.tennis-ontheline.com/pics/04iw/iw04npet3.jpg

Few reporters noticed presence of third player with coach Beesley during his presence Some of them said that it could be Dominika Cibulkova, which finished her work in Africa. One of them said she left the airport in this car, but no one else confirmed this.

I: Hello Vania

I: Thoughts on today's match:
VK: Well, it was the first time I hit a ball since being here in what ever this place is called and I killed her. To be honest I thought she wasn't that good, I saw her after the match crying and stuffing her face with cake.

I: You are facing Chakvetadze next round, how do you think you will do?
VK: She is a bitch, she didn't try to get to know any of the new girls. I think I can show how bad of a player she is.

I: How is your new Bf?
VK: OMG, he is so great in the sac [wink]

I: Okay, what are you doing to tomorrow?

Safina Edges through

http://www.dinarasafina.com/mv/mvblog/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/11auckland_1r.jpg

In only her second tournament back from injury, Dinara Safina completed a 7-6(10) 7-5 victory over Copenhagen champion Li Na. At times Safina's serve let her down, however her ground game was good enough to pull her through. Both players had patches where they played well and other times when they didn't.

Safina answered some question asked by the press:

How does it feel to be back?
It's great, I love that I'm getting the chance to compete once again.

How does your back feel?
At the moment it's fine, I've been playing some singles and doubles but I need to be really careful with it.

You were Number 1 in doubles before you were forced to have a long lay off due to your injury, is that something you're looking to take back?
Well, look I mean I've just came back but of course it's nice being ranked number one - if I keep playing matches and playing well, the ranking will take care of itself. That doesn't mean to say I don't want it though [laughs]

Are going to try and qualify for Istanbul with Laura?
I haven't spoken to her yet but I don't know how high we were in the race or anything and I was away or a long time, so she's been playing with Watson I believe.

So who are you playing doubles with here and have you made any further plans for doubles?
I'm playing Vesnina here and no I have not made any plans for doubles - I will just see how it goes.

Any ranking goals you have set for singles?
No. I just want to be healthy and try to keep winning as many matches as I can, as long as I am healthy then I will be pleased.

During your time off you were very entertaining on Twitter
[Laughs] Thank you  I don't think so but I was trying to keep the fans updated.

Thanks for being here and answering our questions and good luck to you in your next match
No problem and Thank you

Oudin, McHale and Riske all arrive in San Diego.

Interview with the three best friends:

I: So how excited are you guys to play your first pro tournament in the U.S.?

Oudin: Well I think that we are all very excited and cannot wait.
Riske: Yeah. Hopefully we will also have the crowds support. (shrugs)

I: In this tournament Alison and Christina you guys have played doubles with one another. Why not with Melanie?

McHale: Melanie thinks shes better than us. umm...I mean well Mel is more sociable and meets a lot of new players and everyone seems to want to play with her. Me and Ali are real close though so we dont mind.
Riske: Yeah and so this way if we lose we dont really get mad at each other. (laughs)

I: Melanie would you consider ever playing with one of these two?

Oudin: It doesnt phase me.

I: What is that supposed to mean?

Oudin: Well Christina just kind of insulted me so I would much rather play with Ali now.
McHale: Whatevs...

I: okkkk? What are your goals for this tournament and the rest of the year?

McHale: Well of course we would all love to win this tournament or at least one tournament by the end of this year.
Riske: I think Christina has a great shot at winning this title! (smiles)
Oudin: I havent been playing well but I definitely think Christina and Ali will do better than me here. (roll eyes)

I: Well thank you for your time and good luck ladies!

All: Thanks! :D

(as they walk out Christina shoves Mel into a wall who goes on to trip her back. Ali tries to break it up but winds up falling herself and scraping her knee up pretty badly.)

McHale: Look what you did to my partner! I thought we could have done so well here!
Oudin: No you couldnt.
McHale: Uhh sure we could have. But not now! (says so as she slaps Mel)
Oudin: No you wont cause she has a sucky partner like you! (scratches Christinas back)
McHale: OWW!

Riske: umm...hello I am still down here and bleeding like crazy people.

Christina and Melanie cannot here her and argue all the way back to their hotel room.

Later Riske was brought to a hospital and was unsure if she would be able to compete...

Poor alison hope she is ok.

Alison Riske will be back in action:

Alison Riske stayed in the towns hospital overnight after scraping her knee up pretty badly and losing a lot of blood. Oudin and McHale said they both felt like idiots because they were arguing over something stupid and forgot about Riske. Riske and the doctors told us this morning that it was not anything serious and she should be fine for her first match. However, the doctors said if she happens to go far here in singles and/or doubles they advise her to rest her knee and not continue playing.

Here were Alison's comments:

Well all I remember from yesterday was that Mel and Tina were arguing and I tried to break them up. I do not even remember falling! (laughs)

My knee is fine but it looks pretty bad so I asked the doctor if he could wrap it up more. Later I was thinking and thought my opponents might feel sympathy for me or be distracted by my cut and I have a better shot at winning. Haha. I will just be happy if I can finish my first match. My knee doesn't hurt now so hopefully it will be pretty much healed for my match tomorrow. I play Patty and people said I was the favorite but now I do not know. Honestly I am just looking forward to the match and cannot wait to play in my country! :bounce:

The tournament at san deigo has been delayed today the organisers told us why. 'There has been a problem with one of the players Miss Medina garrigues has not surfaced from her hotel room in days, she needs to play her match and we cannot move on till she plays her match, apparently she has had 10 different men in the last 96 hours, she says she will not play till she has experienced the perfect orgasm'.
Anabel gave this statement quickly as her head popped out the duvet
'Someone get me a cigarette'.

Hurricane Fears, Vesnina provides entertainment.

Fears that a hurricane is going to arrive led the Mercury Insurance Open to be postponed for a few days. Players were extremely worried as they were forced to be stay in their hotel rooms and were warned from setting foot on the highly dangerous roads of San Diego. Locked up in their hotel rooms, they became bored out of their skulls - however Miss Vesnina helped bring back the enjoyment for some of the players. It is unknown what exactly got into Vesnina, however, whatever the reason, she certainly did make a bit of a fool of herself.

Miss Safina was extremely embarrassed by the wild behaviour that her friend, Miss Vesnina exhibited. It was like a well behaved cat that had gone wild. Nevertheless, players laughed hysterically until the end of the night as Vesnina kept giving them one more reason to burst into tears of laughter.

One of the strange happenings of the night included Vesnina revealing a very risqué photograph of herself...

http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2006/06/21/magazine/25style.slide4.jpg

Players immediately gasped at the photograph, while Miss Robson was the only one to say something, she immediately shouted 'SLUT!'. Lisicki was trying her very hardest not to laugh, however eventually she could not hold it in and started screaming hysterically.

To try to prevent further embarrassment, Safina tried to drag Vesnina back to her room, however she failed in that aspect. Eventually, Safina walked out - hanging her head in shame and left Vesnina on her own.

It was almost 3am when Vesnina finally ran out of energy and collapsed on the floor. All the players left thinking she was just tired, however 12 hours later, she was still lying on the floor. Vesnina was sent to hospital, even though there were hurricaine fears. After spending 2 days at the hospital, Vesnina was starting to revert back to her old self. She was adamant to return to her hotel but she was told to remain in hospital until the hurricane fears had settled down.

.................

3 days later; It was reported that a cocktail Vesnina had drank had been spiked, the person who did this is still unknown. Further investigation began to take place..........who could it be?

Additional News: The hurricaine fears gave Medina Garrigues the perfect excuse to cover up her recent story. No further questions were asked.

I know how to post them, I've run tournaments in the past. I wish I had asked people to send me points last week so I could have run this tournament.

I have exams and papers and too much stuff over the next few weeks--perhaps over Christmas Break I will start things up again.

Dear San Diego Tournament Players,

Due to an unforeseen disaster, the tournament was forced to be delayed until such a time as our venue could become playable. The ART kindly decided to simply give the players a long vacation until the tournament could start again. I'm proud to say, due to the hard work of our grounds crew, we have successfully prepared the stadium for play after the earthquake. Play will begin again hopefully on this Sunday--

Please do send me your points if you wish to continue to play in this tournament.

Thanks,
Ianto Jones.

--P.S. I'll send out a private message too later this week.

Alison Riske (USA) DEF. Patty Schnyder (SUI)
6-3, 5-7, 6-4

Alison Riske played one of the best matches of her career against veteran Schynder in one of the longest contests of the tournament! Patty well looked on her way to taking the match from the young American, however a little bit of the American dream creeped into Riske's play, to hand her the win and a place in Round 2!

Melanie Oudin (USA) DEF. Bojana Jovanovski (SRB)
6-0, 6-0

There was certainly something in the American air today as another American in Oudin breezed through her first round match with ease. Nothing seemed to go right or pay off for the Serb today as she made error, after error, after error! Oudin produced some amazing tennis today. She made her backhand winners look easy!

Claudine Schaul made a name for herself on the ART tour with her never give up attitude and classy play. The Canadian couldn't match the Luxembourg's play out on court today. Schaul could be a major future star if she keeps this play up! :yeah:

Yaroslava Shvedova (KAZ) DEF. Elena Vesnina (RUS)
6-4, 6-7 (8)* CT, 7-6 (8)* CT

This was the match of the day and both ladies gave everything they had until the very end. The first set looked to be the crucial advantage to the player who would take it in the match, with every game close up to 4-4! The Kazakstani however manged to force a break from Vesnina and ran away with the opener on serve. The second set was another close contest with the longest rallies of the match, however it was clear that Shvedova became tight in the tiebreak as the Russian managed to get her claws back into the match! Clearly frustrated Shvedova lost the first 3 games of the final set as it looked as if there would be a Russian victory! But the Kazakstani came roaring back, this time pushing the Russian in a second tiebreak of the match, as well as putting pressure on the serve again! The Kazakstani pulled off the win with an ace!

ART Tour announces Awards Ceremony celebrating it's most successful superstars at End of Year Race Championships!

http://i3.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/article1318399.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/Serena+Williams
Director of the ART Tour Nick Holt has confirmed that due to ART's major succcess this year, as well as being fortunate enough to have been handed an array of talented athletes, an awards presentation after the End of Year Race Championships will take place for players hard work on the tour this year.

"It's just a thank you as well as showing all the players that we do recognise and want to reward them with their talents and hard work", stated Nick.

"There are many players who have worked really hard this year on and off the court promoting the ART Tour, and I can't thank all of them more than enough. We have a different array of talents within our women's division and we want the world to know that we appreciate the efforts that many of the players make."

"It's all something for the fans too, to get behind the player that they look up to and are inspired by. It will be nothing but a night of celebration and achievement."

It certainly sounds like a night not to be missed, but rumours already seem to be going around the locker room of opinions of whom should be handed awards and trophies already. Will this feed the hunger and desire within many players this US Open Series? Who knows, but for now stay tuned.

Clijsters pleased with form

http://billieweiss.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/f_29aug12_3420_clijsters_presser-copy.jpg
Kim Clijsters mentioned in her press conference that she always seems to come alive during the US Season swing, and has been delighted with her from thus far coming into San Diego.

"I mean ye, the past couple of days have been great. I've really found my confidence in my shot making, and I feel really physically fit at the moment. The weather conditions haven't been easy, it's been really hot and humid, but I'm glad that I have been able to finish off my matches pretty quickly."

"Of course I believe I can win. I wouldn't step out onto court if I didn't believe that I couldn't beat my opponent! There are a lot of talented girls on the ART Tour however, and anything can happen. At the end of the day it's tennis and anything can happen. One time your up, then the next you could be down again after only a couple of points."

"I'm looking extremely forward to the US Open this year. The build up to it has just been immense and I can't wait to be a part of it again."

(11) Maria Sharapova (RUS) DEF. (5) Vera Zvonareva (RUS)
2-6, 7-5, 6-4

The battle of the Russians commenced, and after a blistering start from Vera, Sharapova had no answer. After a tight second set that Vera could have won, Masha came back with a vegeance and stole the show for a clash against Venus Williams in the third round!

The one between Venus and Heather...that is.

Vera should be unseeded. :oh:

(16) Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) DEF. Caroline Wozniacki (DEN)
6-0, 6-0

With Wozniacki who was unknown of whether she would be entering this tournament due to an injury sustained to her heel last week, her decision looked to be the wrong choice. She was slumpy and could hardly move out on court, giving Kuznetsova ease into the third round. Let's hope the Dane recovers for next week!

Anne Kremer (LUX) DEF. (3) Laura Robson (GBR)
6-4, 6-2

Kremer played out of her skin, to create the first major upset of the tournament so far. Robson really seemed to struggle out on court today and couldn't find any rythm out on court. It's the first time all season that the serve was really affected by numerous dodgy ball tosses and a heap of double faults.

ANABEL SEALS WIN OVER DINARA SAFINA

Art is back and today is a strange day, Anabel Medina Garrigues has won from a set down.
http://www.womenstennisblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/medina-garrigues-anabel-0_1621770_n.jpg

But the manner in which she won was strangest of all, the first set Dinara just had to hit the ball in court as anabel was running in the wrong direction to chase the ball, at one point she asked the Umpire for an olive... to go with her Martini, In the second set she started to play with two rackets one in each hand and it started to work, however when Dinara decided to argue with the umpire, he gave her a code violation, Anabel then slipped him several $1000 dollars which she was hiding on her person, bearing in mind Anabel was wearing a skin tight dress, we have no idea where the money came from, one the match was leveled anabel decided to use one racket, she then pinned safina on her forehand and managed to win the match, it was very strange and clearly the rules have been breached here, at the end Dinara refused to shake anabels hand, When asked to comment anabel said

'Can I have a double please'.

When offered Orange juice instead she added

'Ewww Straight Orange Juice, Needs to be diluted with Vodka'.

If that was strange enough then the press conference. Firstly Anabel picked on one of the reporters she said

'I see you... Undressing me with your eyes'

To which the reporter replied

'I am gay love, Nadal more likely'

Anabel ignored him and continued to strip she then danced and let it all hang out quite literally she then said this

'oi Dominika Bitch I am out slutting and whoring you what ya gunna do'

She then left to a shocked audience... An old lady who was cleaning walked past and anabel said

'Yeah you wish...'

when will this girl sort her life out :hysteric:

Dominika announced her comeback to professional tennis.

http://www.tenisinfo.eu/img_art/img_1283/cibulkovadominika-r770.jpg

Yesterday Dominika Cibulkova, former tennis player, former star of ART, Anabel's best friend and Social Worker of the Year announced her comeback to professional tennis as tennis commentator.

I'm glad I will be part of ART Tour again. It's something new for me but as you know I have a lot of talents and my new job will be just another opportunity for me to show that you don't have to do the same thing whole life.

It's amazing that ART Tour is back. We will be able to see some great personalities again, some good tennis players and drama queens. And of course Anabel too. It seems that she needed only 2 days to reach her peak drama form. That's really something.

Mandy Minella (LUX) DEF. (15) Alisa Kleybanova (RUS)
6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4

Minella found something special today. Everyone thought it was Kleybanova's after the intense operner and tiebreak but Minella refused to go down without a fight and got into the head of a nervy and indecisive Russian. The third was all down to who was mentally stronger. Alisa was all over the place as the Luxembourg took advantage. Nice win for Minella! :yeah:

Alison Riske (USA) DEF. (6) Anne Keothavong (GBR)
6-4, 4-6, 7-6(6)

The young American continued her fine form defeating the Rolland Garros champion in a tight three set thriller. Keothavong played the best anyone had seen since winning her first Grand Slam title at Paris, but Riske is playing exceptional at the moment, and there was little the Brit could do in the final set tiebreak. Riske really did take the risks in the tiebreaker. Nice win and over a top 10 player!! ;)

Melanie Oudin did nothing but right today. Her choice of play and shots was exceptional as the Belarus got more and more bad tempered as the match went on. Vika couldn't find a way out there today and a major factor in her game play that is letting her down is her attitude. Get it sorted Vika!

6-4, 3-6, 7-5

In the best battle of the day the World No.2 who is now challenging Anna Chakvetadze for the top spot was not going to be a seed denied today. The Russian really got under the skin of Williams in the final set and played some inspiring tennis to keep her dream of becoming World No.1 alive! Williams looked gutted after the match, this was a tough loss for which ever lady it would have been. Let's hope this pumps Serena up for the next tournament and US Open! Great play from Nadia! :yeah:

Petra Kvitova (CZE) DEF. (1) Anna Chakvetadze (RUS)
6-2, 6-4

There's certainly something about Petra, as she ousted the World No.1 in straight sets. Chakvetadze looked nervy out on court today and nothing seemed to connect. The Czech was fearless through out the whole match and never looked back. When the Czech plays in this kind of form, not even the World No.1 can stand up to her! The question is, will Anna remain as the World No.1 this week, or will Petrova take over and become the tour's second World No.1?

(7) Anabel Medina Garrigues (ESP) DEF. (12) Jelena Jankovic (SRB)
4-6, 6-3, 6-3

The Spaniard who has caused quite a stir since her comeback did not fail to disappoint the fans today with an array of beautiful slices and hefty rallies. Though the attitude will never change, this Spaniard has to be admired for the different arsenal of technique and shots that she possesses in her game. Jelena played well, but let Garrigues get into her head, which became her ultimate downfall.

V.Williams (USA) DEF. (11) Maria Sharapova (RUS)
7-6 (0), 4-6, 6-4

In a battle of the titans, both women refused to give in. In an opening set that lasted shy of an hour, both women played some amazingly, silly rallies that at times made spectators look as if they were to faint at the sheer length of drama. Though the Russian stormed back in the second set, getting an early break as the American found it hard to recover. The third set would play completely even until Sharapova's serve fell apart at 4-4, as the American served confidently in the final game for the win. These two have already created a rivalry for themselves and I'm sure as the next tournament comes along both women will relish the opportunity to play each other again! Some jaw dropping tennis! :O

(4) Ana Ivanovic (SRB) DEF. Mandy Minella (LUX)
7-6 (8)* CT, 2-6, 6-4

In another thriller to end the day session, Minella played the best anyone had ever seen, and really seems to be improving in confidence with the more wins she gets under her belt, though it was too good off the Serb today. After cliiping the first set with some devastating forehand winners, the Serb slumped in the second set and gave Minella a foothold into the match. But the Serb regrouped in the final set to run away with the match and a place in the Quarter-Finals!! ;)

Alison Riske (USA) DEF. Kim Clijsters (BEL)
6-3, 4-6, 6-3

The young American again showed more promise to the future prospect she could be for American tennis as she outlasted the great Kim Clijsters to advance through to the Quarter-Finals. At times it looked as if the momentum was with Clijsters, but Riske just wouldn't go away! Riske in many ways outpowered Kim in the final set and moved her around the court point after point. Clijsters was forced into a defensive game but nothing paid off as the aggressive American took everything for herself. Impressive play off the American. Nice to see some Americans doing well during the US Open Series and before their home Grand Slam Tournament!

Melanie Oudin (USA) DEF. Claudine Schaul
5-7, 7-6 (8)* CT, 6-3

Melanie Oudin became the third and final American to advance through to the Quarter-Finals after a gutsy performance over the young and promising Luxembourg star Schaul. Schaul had played some amazing tennis all week, but in the end it was the fiery Oudin who found some amazing form! No one could touch her today, and I'm sure others in the draw will be taking the deadly blonde very seriosuly from now on! Top performance from Oudin! :yeah:

In what was a very topsy turvy match the World No.2 showed grit and determination in her quest to become World No.1. She would not be denied after a major problem with her ankle in the second set but miracously fought back in the final set to advance through to the San Diego Quarter-Finals!! Can Nadia go further into the tournament and cement her place at the top?

Hi my dear friends.

I'm glad I'm able to be with you again. I watched all matches today, except one with Garrigues. I saw a lot of fantastic tennis, a lot of drama and also I didn't see Medina at all. I'm bit devastated after Anna's loss. She has excellent season so far, but after her outstanding performance in Australia, she didn't shine again. I've already talked with Anna after her loss:

Anna Ch.

I have no idea what's happened. I guess I need few weeks to find form again. We didn't play a lot in last few months and this is a serious problem for me.

Personally I think Anna should remain #1. It would be disaster for Tour to have slamless #1. I mean, Nadia is really good player, but leader of ranking should be able to win slams. I even don't remember if Nadia won any tournament before San Diego.

Nadia P.

Get lost useless idiot. I don't wanna talk with you.

Yes, sometimes Nadia is really rude. I don't know why she didn't talk with me.

Anyway, stay with your favorite reporter.

See you later :wavey:

Doubles Round 1

(1) Maria Sharapova (RUS) and Jelena Jankovic (SRB) vs. BYE

Vera Zvonareva (RUS) and Petra Kvitova (CZE) def. Melanie Oudin (USA) and Li Na (CHN) 6-2 6-1
No problems for Vera and Petra, booking a place in the QF with straight sets victory ovet the American and Chinese pair.

Anne Keothavong (GBR) and Patty Schnyder (SUI) def. Venus Williams and Serena Williams (USA) 6-3 3-6 6-3
As ever the Williams sisters fought for every point out there but a shaky Serena looked out of shape against the cannon fire coming from Keothavong's forehand which hardly ever missed and Patty was ready to put the volleys away at the net. great partnership.

Sabine Lisicki (GER) and Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) def. (4) Dinara Safina and Elena Vesnina (RUS) 7-6(1) 5-7 7-6(4)
In what has to be the match of the tournament in both singles and doubles so far, Sabine and Sveta just had the edge over the talented Russian pair using a lot of variety to come out on top, a pair to certainly watch throughout !!

Christina Mchale and Alison Riske (USA) def. (3) Anna Chakvetadze (RUS) and Anabel Medina Garrigues (ESP) 6-2 0-6 6-3
An underestimation was on the crads here after a wondeful set of tennis from the Americans, Anna and Anabel were in shock and seemed to put all their effort into the second set only to come out on the losing end after Christina played some awesome tennis to put her team through to the QF!!!!

Jie Zheng (CHN) and Shuai Peng (CHN) def. Aravane Rezai (FRA) and Justine Henin (BEL) 6-4 6-3
The Chinese pair showed us all how to play quality doubles and deserve their place in the QF !! Congrats.

Yaroslava Shvedova (KAZ) and Vania King (USA) def. Kim Clijsters (BEL) and Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) 6-0 6-0

ANABEL SLAMS ANNA CHAKVETADZE FOR DOUBLES DEFEAT

Today anabel lost her doubles match with Chakvetadze heres what she had to say
' I do not know why I play with her, she told me she was on her period, and I was like Bitch please take this, Its called the pill. She then had cramps and I had to serve lucky I served underarm and Those Americans were so slow I hit 20 aces, I won my singles though against some scrub, and I hear my old BFF Dominika is here, she said she did not watch my match, so I sent her a Video of it, and then I did a dildo show afterwards so I hope she enjoys it. I now go and have a rub down after I had a party in my hotel room, I need many baby oils rubbed into me, I have match tomorrow against some scrub, I hope to lose, I do not want to be here anymore, I will do everything in my power to lose, I am going to play left handed, 1/4 finals is good for my ranking I just want to go to New York I hear there is lots of sex there'.

It seemed from the start of the match that Garrigues couldn't really be bothered! She didn't seem to put any effort into the match and did some strange and perculiar things at times. Kvitova wasn't phased and concentrated on her game. The Czech put everything away today. Anabel seemed to mutter to the umpire after, maybe because she got a warning for not trying! OOOPPPSSS! (16) Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) DEF. Venus Williams (USA)
6-3, 6-4

No one can say that Williams hasn't had a fantastic run and tournament here but I'm afraid the Russian is in fantastic form and proved to be too strong for the American. Williams gave it her all, but Kuznetsova outclassed the fiesty American who couldn't find a way through the wall and ox. Williams loos set and ready for the US Series but can a Russian take the title here?

Alison Riske (USA) DEF. (4) Ana Ivanovic (SRB)
6-4, 6-7 (2), 6-3

In a match that everyone thought the Serb was bound to take Riske took it all. She certainly has been the star and darling of the tournament, and no one could have askd any more of her. All her hard work has paid off and we are seeing a star emerge in front of our very eyes on the ART Tour. Riske really did take risks and though she could have closed out the match in the second set, she didn't let it get her down and fought like a true champion. Bad luck for the Serb. Ivanovic played exceptional and we saw a fantastic, high quality match, but something has taken over Riske at the moment which is certainly not human!!

(2) Nadia Petrova (RUS) DEF. Melanie Oudin (USA)
6-4, 7-5

Nadia Petrova has been on a woman on a mission and looks to have completed her goal of becoming World No.1! Oudin played a good match, but it wasn't enough against the Russian who at times looked like a woman on a assassin mission. Her ground strokes were lethal and her winners were second to none!! Nadia looked very emotinal after the match and looks set to be the new World No.1 after the rankins come out next week!! Congratulations Nadia!!!

I'm speechless. I really don't know how it's happened. I mean Anna was #1 since 1st tournaments and it will be great honor to replace her as world rankings leader.

Kvitova d. Medina Garrigues

Here is the full match report, the match started with a sour taste when the Umpire Kader Nouni asked anabel what she would like heads or tails and her reply was 'suprise me'. They warmed up and then for the first point every shot anabel played was a hot dog, the crowd loved it but Petra was angry she then hit anabel of the court. Anabel then wanted to give Kader Nouni a code violation for being ugly, so he gave her and code violation for not trying, Anabel then smacked a ball at Petra who dodged, Anabel then sat down for 10 mins and refused to play because she said it was raining, the weather today was clear skies... Kader Nouni said if she did not play Anabel would forfeit the match, Anabel replyed with 'does your wife know what your were doing last night'. A clearly shaken and nervous Kader told Petra to quit complaining. Petra served out the match with 4 aces, while anabel chatted a member of the crowd up. Petra won the match but went to the net to shake hands and Anabel had already gone, 5 mins later she was seen checking in at the airport, without any luggage and still in her tennis clothes, she wanted to leave desperately.

Doubles Quarter Finals

Vera Zvonareva (RUS) and Petra Kvitova (CZE) def. (1) Maria Sharapova (RUS) and Jelena Jankovic (SRB) 6-2 6-2
In what seems like a complete mirror reflection of their last match, the number 1 seeds were no match for Vera and Petra today. Such a great tournament from Petra :yeah:

Sabine Lisicki (GER) and Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) def. Anne Keothavong (GBR) and Patty Schnyder (SUI) 7-6(1) 6-3
A great match with high quality tennis, but in the end the German-Russian pair looked sharp with their tactics and looked the more together team.

Christina Mchale and Alison Riske (USA) def. Jie Zheng (CHN) and Shuai Peng (CHN)7-5 2-6 6-2
What a fantastic match, Christina and Alison make an awesome pair and really showed why they are the future talent of ART defeating a really credible team in the Chinese !! Jie and Shuai were close but they will learn from this and come back stronger.

Yaroslava Shvedova (KAZ) and Vania King (USA) def. (2) Heather Watson and Laura Robson (GBR) 6-2 6-3
The youngsters looked out of place today and didnt produce their best tennis but Yaroslava and Vania really are a dangerous team and look like they can beat anyone on their day, congrats :cheer:

Petra Kvitova (CZE) DEF. (16) Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS)
6-3, 6-2

The Russian with out any doubt has had an amazing tournament but her luck ran out today against a better opponent. Kvitova looks to have put her level of tennis up to another gear, that is in no mood to slow down. Kuznetsova couldn't match the Czech's power or even super heroine fitness. Kvitova advances to her best result to date this year, the Finals of San Diego. Who will be meeting her in tomorrows Final?

(2) Nadia Petrova (RUS) DEF. (16) Alison Riske (USA)
7-5, 7-5

Alison Riske who has made a big name for herself amongst the US and fans among the world this week put on the display and skill she had possessed and shown all week, but she met her match maker today. The only remaining seed now left in the tournament and a woman who has now only become the second ever player on the ART Tour to become World No.1 looked after also by the same coach was simply too good. Her ball striking was excellent and her unforced error count was the lowest we have seen all season. Is becoming the new World No.1 changed Nadia's mind set? Are we seeing a dominant World No.1 that may keep the crown longer than her pre-decessor? Is the only thing Nadia needs now is a Grand Slam Title? What will others have to say about Nadia's new achievement? All we know, is that things have just got a whole lot more interesting! Will Chakvetadze fight back next week? For now Nadia advances through to another Final!

Congratulations to our Finalists Nadia and Petra!! Should be an awesome Final!! :yeah:

Nadia really has gone through the tournament without no fear and set one of her goals as becoming the new World No.1 of the ART Tour!! Congratulations again :cheer:

Petra has played in great form all week and doesn't want to stop that in the Final! All the pressure will be on Nadia!!

Bad luck to Riske and Sveta, but both were unexpected dark horses this tournament and both produced some excellent tennis. Let's hope they can both keep this consistant week in week out!! :yeah:

no-hay-igual should be posting the Doubles Semi-Finals later! :)

Doubles Semi Finals

Vera Zvonareva (RUS) and Petra Kvitova (CZE) def. Sabine Lisicki (GER) and Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) 6-4 6-3
It has been a brilliant tournament for Sveta who has made the semi finals of both events but today she seemed a little fatigued after a lot of tennis this week. Sabine and Sveta should see their rankings improve though :yeah: Vera and Petra, this week's singles finalist put on a masterclass today and even though they were pushed in the first set, they always looked comfortable and are looking strong going into the final.

Yaroslava Shvedova (KAZ) and Vania King (USA) def. Alison Riske and Christina Mchale (USA) 7-5 6-2
Yaro and Vania looked so impressive today and really are going to be a tough team to beat on the doubles circuit. Their consistency this week is going to put Vera and Petra under massive pressure in the final as they looked dominant closing out the match today. Alison and Christina were really unlucky after having 2 set points at 5-4* in the first set and after losing them just seemed to drop off a little. All experience though and Alison has had a great tournament. Congrats to all finalists :yeah:

Petra Kvitova (CZE) and Vera Zvonareva (RUS) def. Yaroslava Shvedova (KAZ) and Vania King (USA)
6-3 6-3

Without dropping a set all week, Petra and Vera have looked in superb form throughout the tournament and have really made themselves difficult to beat. Petra is this week's singles finalist but she has great variety when she plays doubles, ready to pounce at the net when the opportunity arises and showing strong consistency from the back of the court, an area which she has been working in. Vera has had inconsistent results this year but has looked comfortable all week and should take this confidence with her through to next week. ART needs to watch out for this doubles pairing because if they wanted to, their tactics are perfect and could see themselves at the top of the doubles rankings. However not too far behind them will be the pairing of Yaroslava and Vania, a truely complete team as they have all the necessary tools and weapons to allow them to beat opponents with ease. If this pairing is to continue we can exoect to see them in the top 20 very very soon. Congrats finalists and well done to our mercury insurance open winners- Kvitova and Zvonareva :cheer:
