They announced a 14 date arena tour and the possibility of a new album at some point. I will still be in NZ in April so will unfortunately miss out :sobbing: The Ultimate Collection Album has also just be released.

Also he knew the split was as nasty as it was, I caught up with their 4 part documentary where the 5 are reunited for the 1st time in ten years and it was pretty eye opening.

I was never fond of Claire but I feel sorry for her if she felt excluded by Faye and Lisa. H still seems like an ass, I also feel Claire is taking most of the shit for the split when he was instrumental too.

I hope they can have a bit of success again, their music videos were so naff but it was amazing as a kid dancing to all the songs. Also Lee was one of my first crushes as a kid. :p

While I'm still eagerly awaiting B*Witched's reunion, this is still awesome :hearts: Pre-ordered the Greatest Hits (still hasn't arrived yet :( )

I had no idea about the tour  I need to go :hysteric:

Their new website has the dates, Dublin and Belfast have been added at the start and aren't listed there apparently. All pretty major arenas.

Apparently the Ultimate Collection looks like it could make it to Number 1. Its number 2 in the midweeks and with more TV appearances could get to number 1.

Regarding B*witched I read an article in an Irish newspaper and Sinead has a normal job and doesn't seem interested in a reunion, god knows where Lindsay is.

I'm so jealous :sobbing: The Kiwis tell me 5,6,7,8 was a big hit over here, if only they'd do a World Tour
Aren't the B*witched twins up to something as a duo these days, I mean that's half the group right there :p

Lisa singing isn't great, no wonder a solo career never took off :tape: Still love her :) :)

What's everyone's favourite Steps song? At the time mine was always One For Sorrow, but in hindsight I can't choose :sobbing: Here's a few:

Picking a favorite is so tough when I like EVERY single song, not many groups I can say that about

I really like Its the Way You Make Me Feel. 5,6,7,8 has aged the worst of them all buts is still fun, Lee's rapping :help:

Tragedy and Love's Got a Hold on My Heart where the first to pop in my head when the reunion was announced. Yeah no matter how sad the song lyrics they always seemed so happy, H abnormally so. I mean he didn't have to come out of the closest its quite clear looking back at these videos he was gay all along

:rolls: "One For Sorrow" is probably the best. That was the one song that kind of came to mind every now and again after they split. I rediscovered some of their songs in recent years :oh:.

Voice-wise I think I like H the best actually. Lee's still cute :oh:.

From the documentary it seems H has quite a lot of cash, by the look of that house he lives in. I guess the west end pays well. Lisa's pad in Dubai looks pretty nice too. But I dunno what money she would be living off.

The documentary thing is actually really interesting, I like how Faye wasn't taking Claire and H's bullshit about being overworked as the reason they left. Also I really wanna know what H put in his resignation letter that he wouldn't let the camera see  how bad was it?

Tough one, but I'd say their cover of Bananarama's Last Thing On My Mind, or Summer Of Love.

OMG, I was so happy when I heard they are re-grouping again :sobbing: I loved them when I was young. I knew all their songs.

I also hope they make more than an Ultimate Colletion album. They were missed. The break-up came out of the blue to be honest.

My all time favorite song from them has to be "The Way You Make Me Feel". I just adore that song. the video is brilliant. Love everything about it. Ofcourse so many other great tracks by them as well.

If groups such as Steps can reunite after loathing each other then I can't think why there can't be peace in the Middle East.

I have a friend involved in making this tv show and I hate to put a dampener on things, but the whole tv show is a load of shit designed to be used as a promo to sell tickets to their world tour (which is a one off and pure money making exercise)

The truth is, they still pretty much all cant stand each other. And the reasons given for the breakup in the show are superficial reasons for why they broke up. There was real tension about how Claire got to sing most of the vocals etc, but the real reason why they all fell out was because H was fucking their manager and basically never used to sit with them on flights, or act like a part of the group and was given favourable treatment by their manager which is the true cause of all their tension.

Believe it or not, but thought you might enjoy a bit of insider gossip!

I believe it. I watched the TV shows and what you say was alluded to. I have to say that watching the episode of the recording of Dancing Queen my overwhelming thought was that they need to get over themselves. Their 'issues' are so petty. They were nonentities who auditioned to make one single, got lucky and pretty much anyone could have filled their shoes - right place at right time. I don't understand why such groups cant count their blessings and enjoy their good fortune and the experience. They were crazy splitting as none were going to make it solo and many fans felt let down.

If fans want to buy this reunion that's up to them, and good luck to them, but it's kind of sad that such groups can't just acknowledge and enjoy their situation.

It was mentioned. Lee said something that if H and the manager kept a secret like that from the rest of them then what other secrets were they keeping from them.

I defiantly felt Lisa was a bit full of herself over the vocal distribution in the last episode, I thought since she is in her 30s now she'd be over that kind of thing. Also her This Morning performance showed she was least deserving of individual vocals

Ah Steps.

By rights, they should offend me musically. Yet for some reason I will admit to being rather fond of a few of their songs. Yes, they were rampantly cheesy, with the goofy lyrics and over the top warbling, but they did cheesy pop as well as any band I can think of. Some of my favourite songs were Deeper Shade of Blue, Summer of Love and Last Thing on my Mind. The video for the latter makes me nostalgic, given that it was a quintessential taste of the 90's.

Put it this way, given the choice between the diabolical, soulless music acts of present, including Gaga, Perry, Rihanna and will.i.am, with their Autotune-assisted mediocrity, and the apparently endless conveyor belt of manufactured non-entity's produced by X-Factor and similar shows, I'd choose Steps any day.

I'm sure I read a comment here about how much money they had made but can't find it now.

H said they made millions from Steps. They would have aswell the amount of records they sold plus I was shocked to find out how much people get for doing one off gigs. H is the only one i think to have been doing some sort of work since Steps though and to have some success although Faye has done a fair few musicals over the years.

It's interesting that a lot of groups who were laughed at in their day are appreciated more in later years - Abba included.

I loved Steps and didn't care what people said about them. I don't even care about their motivations for getting back together I am just thrilled they are back and hope they stay around. I was one of the devastated fans when they split. Listening to their albums again, their songs are box fresh and awesome! No one today has a collection of hit after hit like them.

My crush on Lee has started all over again. And he's, wait for it, straight!!

I like their cover of Chain Reaction. Everyone except Lee sang lead and towards the end Claire did her thing! Oh and Lisa looked hot.

Steps' brand of electro dance-pop is actually what's popular again ATM (even the rappers like Pitbull, Usher etc. are on the bandwagon). It makes me wonder if Gaga had been popular in the late-90s she would've been hated as Steps were .

Good point, I mean Judas and Edge of Glory defiantly are songs that I think Steps could have sung and they wouldn't have looked out of place with the likes of Deeper Shade of Blue.

I completely disagree. Steps' brand of pop was very unique and completely soaked in the 90s so I'm not sure how they would sound now with new material. They are clearly riding on the wave of nostalgia at the moment so good for them for reaping the awards that has brought them. There is just no comparison though to GaGa IMO.
Saying that, I would most interested to hear new material from them.

I can see why there could be comparisons to GaGa. You can dress them up all you like but when it comes down to it their best hits are simply just awesome, catchy, pure pop tunes. They've both released great pop songs that are a throwback to the pop songs of yesteryear (Steps at the time were supposed to be like a modern-day Abba and, well, we all know who GaGa likes to emulate :oh: )

Heck, if Steps hadn't existed first time round and someone gave Pitbull a verse in one of their songs to rap on, it'd be a hit. Maybe not with Tragedy or 5, 6, 7, 8 but definitely something like DSOB or One For Sorrow. The only thing missing would be the hideous 10-second blasts of dubstep or drum & bass or noise a lot of artits seem to use in their songs these days :|

I miss the late 90s and early 00s :hysteric:

Been listening to The Ultimate Collection for the past couple of days :D Had to get out their other albums too, I'm so excited for the tour. Got tickets to go to Aberdeen, no cheaper tickets left at Glasgow, but as long as I get to see them I don't care where I go :p My mum is coming with me like she did 10 years ago when I went to see them  Been practicing my dance moves, though I don't know if I should do the Last Thing On My Mind one cause I could really hurt someone doing that

I think One For Sorrow is my fave song of theirs. Claire has always been my favourite so I love it that she has lead vocals on it, even if the rest of the group ain't too happy about that :p I loved it when Claire did that wee thing with her nose  I noticed she did it on the DSOB on Lorraine :D

Anyone been watching the Steps Reunion? Really been enjoying it cos I didn't really know what happened between them so it's been really interesting, although I do feel sorry for poor Claire getting all the snash :(

Really? That would be the third time they've covered Bananarama - 'Last Thing On My Mind' and 'Movin' On'. 'Deeper Shade Of Blue' might as well have been a reworking of Bananarama's 'Every Shade Of Blue' as well.

Don't know for certain but that's what I heard. It is interesting it would be another Bananarama cover, and another song by the duo. At least it gives Keren and Sara some recognition as I think they have some good songs but seem to have gone unnoticed since they became a duo. I really hope it's true though, it's a great song and I'm looking forward to seeing how they divide the vocals :p

Great performance. They sound really good live, I'm glad they've decided to not mime, I don't think it would've looked too good :p But they actually sing well anyway so I don't know why they didn't sing live more often their first time round. I like at the chorus you can really hear Lee and H sing, and the mix of the male and female voices sounds really good, I suppose that's why the did DSOB again, though I hope they do another one of their songs if they perform again on another show.

Oh wow - that's the first I've heard of that - I was surprised that Dum Dum Boy wasn't a single for the Nana's.

Heres a vid I did when I saw Bananarama performing it last year at The Garage in Islington, the sounds not that great - love the beginning bit of the dance routine tho :)
