Any one watching it? I love it. I just love anything with horror elements in it and this one is even better.:oh:
But I don't think many people know about this.:awww:

I loved it. Definitely different than anything else out there right now and has the potential to be a great show. Could fill the hole of a Nip/Tuck type show that I have been trying to fill.

Oh I forgot this was on! I'm gonna have to catch it on demand.

So I watched the first episode on demand last night. I liked it. There was a lot going on for a first episode and in a way, maybe too much at times. It seems like they felt they had to introduce us to just about every character and element right from the start. I think I would've enjoyed it more if we just got glimpses of things at first and if there was a bit more of a build-up. But maybe they felt they had to draw people in right away, so hopefully now they'll explore some of the elements more slowly and let some suspense and mystery build. There's definitely a lot of potential, though.

And Jessica Lange was excellent, of course.

Jessica Lange was definitely awesome. Her character was my favorite by far. Excited for tonight.

Last nights episode was 10x better than the first. Slowed down a bit and started building around the storylines. Totally into it now. Rest of the season should be great. :bounce:

I think the casting was really well done. All of the characters are nailing their parts, especially Lange. They are all fucked up but realistic characters. So far its like a mix of Nip/Tuck and Six Feet Under with a horror theme.

The best part about this show ? It has to be Dylan McDermott in various stages of undress. In just two episodes we have seen him shirtless countless number of times and fully nude atleast two times. :yeah: Too bad the story is fatally flawed and the acting just amateur at times. :(

The timing for Zachary Quinto to come out is just perfect. He starred in the recent episode and guess what, he played as a gay guy.:oh:

and the moment of intimate between Pat and Ben :oh: :(

Only seen 2 eps so far and I'm loving it esp. the Frances Conroy/Alex Breckenridge maid tag team which needs MORE screen time, please.

Ellen Dawson
Nov 1st, 2011, 08:41 AM
So, I'm caught up. Was it just me or was there a continuity error with the maid's eye? (Sorry too lazy to rewind) With the young version, the gunshot was on the right eye but with the old incarnation it's on the left. Or was I imagining things? :o Zachary Quinto was awesome as was the Down Syndrome girl. :worship: I just wish that the daughter wasn't your typical cigarette-smoking morose hipster-ish teen. Tired of it.

I'm glad there's only 2 eps to go because I've grown tired of the show. IMO they've backed themselves into a corner. The only thing they can do for S2 (if it gets renewed) is to have a brand new fam move in and the cycle starts over.

I want to know what happened to Constance's other child...

And I had a hunch Violet actually died when she tried to kill herself. Although I don't see why when she tried to leave the house she kept running right back in? Hayden and Tate haven't had any problems leaving the house in the past.

I'm pretty sure it has been confirmed that a new family will be brought in. Fingers crossed Ben and Vivian either run away or die somewhere else, then we won't be stuck with them forever. I've dreamed up ways for Ben to die where he wouldn't become a ghost in the house.

Over. The structure of the finale was so weird, it didn't really follow what most finales do. I felt like more new storylines were introduced than wrapped up. And some of the storylines (like an a new family moving in, then moving out) were completely self-contained from the other stories in the episode. I'm not even sure what to think. It's not necessarily bad, I've just never watched a finale quite like it.

iPatty
Dec 22nd, 2011, 03:11 AM
So weird.

The only watchable parts for me were when Constance was on screen and when all of the ghosts were scaring that other family out of the house. The rest of it was . The ending was pretty intense but overall a very underwhelming finale.

A shame because this is the first episode that I have been really disappointed by. Hopefully season two doesn't follow in the same fashion.

The season started slow then it picked up and we had a run of a few good episodes but then the quality took a massive nosedive and i think the last episode was terrible :o. I am probably done with this show. :help: As evidenced with "Glee" or even "Eat Pray Love", Ryan Murphy is not very consistent in his work. A few flashes of brilliance here and there but average overall. :help:

“The (haunted) house is done. Every season of the show will be a different haunting. That’s always been the plan. Every season of the show will have a beginning, middle and end, and all new characters and setting. We’re still negotiating with a handful (of the performers) about returning. We’re also meeting with new actors whom we’ve targeted roles for. I will say that Connie and Dylan will not be playing the leads of the show in the second season. We’d love for them to come back and do something, maybe a smaller role or a cameo. There are all kinds of different American horror stories to tell. There are serial killing stories, prison stories, true crime stories…Each year of the show is designed to be a little miniseries unto itself. The only thing we’re not open to doing is a season on vampires."

"We too loved those characters and will mourn them and miss them. But the aspects of the show that people love, including the mystery and love story, will be there, albeit with new actors and characters. But you know, this has always been the plan from day one. We just weren’t interested in doing another season with those people trapped in the house…I’ve always wanted to do a kind of Mercury Theater approach, with a (rotating cast) and each year do kind of like a little novella. There are a lot of actors who have their own careers and don’t want to make a five-year commitment. This gives people who haven’t done TV before an opportunity. Our shooting schedule is like three or four months every season, so it’s like commiting to a film really. I get a lot of calls from film actors who want to dabble in TV but don’t know how to do it. Being on a series where all of the characters’ stories are done after a season is a way in for them. That’s been the plan from the beginning with this show.”

They said they'll keep some of the old cast. And considering Jessica Lange is by far the most critically acclaimed part of the first season, I'm sure they're doing everything they can to keep her.

They said the old actors will be playing new characters, but I don't see that for Jessica. I still see her playing Constance; the plotline was clearly being set up for her to continue with it and the demon spawn. I imagine something like Constance finally being forced to leave the city because if deaths keep piling up around her, the police are already suspicious of her, she'll need to get somewhere new. Possibly with a new name.

I hope JL doesn't come back. She was good but Constance always seemed too much like the same Southern belle she played in Hush w/ Gwynnie. For me it just got old. I loved Taissa but I don't want her back either. And please no more Connie Britton!

Alright, I am caught up on the show thanks to Hulu. I really enjoyed it but did it seem sloppy to anybody else? It just seemed at times to be all over the place. And Violet and Tate got REALLY annoying towards the end.I hope neither of them are back for the next season .

From the beginning, Murphy and Falchuk planned that each season of the series would tell a different story.[8] After the first season finale aired, Murphy spoke of his plans to change the cast and location for the second season.[15] He did say, however, that some actors who starred in the first season would be returning. "The people that are coming back will be playing completely different characters, creatures, monsters, etc. [The Harmons'] stories are done. People who are coming back will be playing entirely new characters," he announced.[8]

I'm just confused about the aliens part. :o WTF is up with that.

I'm also confused about the setup. I guess we won't be getting a modern group of people being haunted by ghosts like in the first season? I don't see they'd be able to have a consistent haunting storyline with this setup. It seems more like creepy happenings in the past.

i just watched the first season, and quite liked it, though the quality was very uneven. they crammed every horror movie cliché into one series - and somehow, at least most of the time, it worked.

some very good performances. lily rabe playing the original owner of the house was a real discovery for me, she was awesome. but there were also some less impressive ones: zachary quinto played the gay guy quite badly, ironcially enough. and denis o'hare ... i really don't like his acting style, it already bothered me on "true blood".

Some questions though: Why is Moira the only ghost who grew old? :rolls: The rest of the ghosts are stuck in their age when they died.

there's quite a few - not to say too many - such inconsistencies. sometimes the ghosts would walk around with the wounds that kiiled them, sometimes they looked unharmed.

FX’s ‘American Horror Story’ Renewed For Third Installment; Jessica Lange To Return

FX has picked up a third installment of its horror anthology franchise American Horror Story with a 13-episode order. Production of the untitled new cycle of AHS will begin next summer and premiere in the fall of 2013. FX and AHS creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s are keeping mum on details about the next incarnation but announced that, like was the case with American Horror Story and American Horror Story: Asylum, many of the actors will return in different roles next year, including star Jessica Lange.

The news comes with Season 2, American Horror Story: Asylum, still on the air, headed to its conclusion on January 23. It has been a formidable demo force in the Wednesday 10 PM time period, with last night’s episode topping all broadcast networks in Adults 18-34 (2.1). Vs. last week, AHS: Asylum was up 30% in Adults 18-34 and 9% in Adults 18-49. “With American Horror Story: Asylum, Ryan and Brad have raised the bar in every way from Murder House, the first American Horror Story miniseries,” said FX president John Landgraf.

Lange won Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Emmy awards for her role as Constance Langdon in 20th Century Fox TV-produced American Horror Story. Starring as Sister Jude in AHS: Asylum, Lange will be moving to the Lead Actress category in the Golden Globe and Emmy awards this year, FX said.

I have really enjoyed this season, that said I was disappointed by the way they got rid of the devil.
Last episode aired (12) seemed like a big filler, hopefully they pick it up for the finale.

The finale was very anticlimactic. It was too easy for Lana to talk Johnny down at the end and then too obvious that she was going to turn around and shoot him.

It was also pretty surprising to see most of the main characters end up fairly happy. Dumb however that the alien storyline was never explained (ever). :o I think Ryan Murphy knows he fucked up there, he mentioned that he regrets doing the aliens.

All in all an entertaining season but I didn't like it as much as S1.

I liked this season better but yeah, the alien storyline was a mess. To be honest, I wasn't terribly fond of the whole Kitt storyline anyway. (By the way, I am the only one who noticed how the strength of his Boston accent changed throughout the season? Perhaps that's just my imagination...).

But why did they re-show the scene where Lana first entered Briar Cliff?

Agree with all that the aliens were random. Also I was disappointed with how little they did with Johnny. Wonder how he found Thredson's confession tape on Ebay.

Best part was Kit getting Jude out and taking her in. Really heart warming after all she had done and gone through.

i just finished watching "asylum" and thought it was far superior to season 1. okay, there were still some messy bits, both in storyline and in style. but overall it was very interesting and unsettling.

and the cast ... well, what more could you ask for? from jessica lange to james cromwell, from frances conroy to franka potente: i thought everyone did a breathtaking job! i'm especially happy AHS made me familiar with lily rabe and sarah paulson, who were so, so good in both seasons. i hope to see more from them.

I thought it was whatever the woman gave her that caused that. It seemed to be some sort of potion that caused her to seem to be dead but really wasn't and possibly extended her life. Then they could bury her alive and have her lie in a coffin for a hundred years, it'd be a particularly terrible way to punish someone.

I didn't get the body scene either. I mean the guy they brought back to life was cut up too. Why? I mean he didn't even die in the crash, he died later when the Girl with the Killer Vag had sex with him. Why would they cut him up?

I'm actually liking this season so far; I think it has good potential if they keep developing the Jessica Lange v Kathy Bates v Angela Bassett angle. The only thing I'm missing is any real scares. I'm a baby when it comes to horror and both Murder House and Asylum had some really scary/disturbing scenes for me, but I haven't even been close to being scared or disturbed so far this season. It's almost a comedy in parts.

It's not really a spoiler imo since the previews for the next episode have a hand reaching through the earth. Coupled with her obviously being a big character it's pretty obvious she's coming back. Unless I'm missing someone who was recently buried.

1. Jessica Lange
2. The location in combination with camera work gives the viewer a sense of literally being in New Orleans
3. The randomly weird behaviours of otherwise seemingly normal characters; the butler's teaparty with dolls including an alive one; Queenies weird sex encounter with the horse; Cordelia's husband about whom we know nothing randomly blowing that girl's head off

As to the Supreme:
- the series started with showing us Zoe first, add the fact that she suck the life out of penis-havers which in some way benefits her I reckon; she is the obvious choice;
- Nan has an outside shot;
-Cordelia being it is kinda pushing it;
-Misty does have the radiant health going for her, I mean, the bitch self-resurrected herself from ashes;

Really bummed about Madison being dead for good; she was basically the Regina George of the group and I genuinely liked Emma Roberts for once; now seeing her as a corpse for the rest of the season is gonna infuriate me.

Why do I keep watching this show while I eat :sobbing:

The amount of times I've screamed, "NOO PRECIOUS! STOP IT! NOOO!!!" these past 2 weeks has been insane :sobbing:

But seriously, I fucking love every single thing about this show. The fact that the quality has remained consistently fantastic for 3 straight seasons is pretty amazing, especially for Ryan Murphy. I basically cream my pants during every scene Jessica Lange/Kathy Bates/Angela Basset is in. I would love a show with just the three of them sitting in a room and having a bitch-off. :hearts:

I could never get behind Zoey until this episode. She gave me a reason to like her. :oh:

Is Madison really dead for good? She was so good..

RIGHT? Emma Roberts stole every scene she was in, and really hope she is resurrected by Misty or someone else. LOVE her.

The show has been renewed. Angela Basset & Kathy Bates will most probably will return for next season as well. The theme is yet to be announced.

As to the episode, it is too easy now for Zoe to be the Supreme after that 'they have real power now'; plus Murphy is still saying you never know who will be the Supreme. My new theory is that it is Cordelia sucking the life out of her own mother and no matter how vicious Fiona is she will not hurt her daughter.

Kind of a spoiler(promotional photos):

At this point, it would be way too predictable to have ANY of the students and even Misty be the new supreme.

So I'm liking the Cordelia guess.

It's still TOO easy to have Zoey become the new supreme.

TrollPova

Cordelia as the Supreme would be the only interesting possibility in terms of how Fiona would handle it. We know how much she likes knifing her potential replacements . In terms of story and drama, Delia is the most exciting prospect.

Maddison would've been a great choice :sobbing:

Presumably because she doesn't know who she is or know that she is dead, because Madison is currently stuffed inside a trunk. It could still happen, a long way to go.

'American Horror Story' renewed for 4th season

FX has, of course, renewed American Horror Story for a fourth season. The network has ordered 13 episodes of the horror anthology for next year.
“Put simply, Ryan Murphy is a master television producer,” said FX Networks CEO John Landgraf. “Time and time again he reinvents the form. What … the entire production team and cast responsible for the American Horror Story franchise have done is nothing short of extraordinary. Every year, they create a riveting and brilliant new miniseries. AHS: Coven is the best yet, and I have no doubt that the next installment will be even better.”

But no pressure!

So far Coven is on track to be the show’s most-popular entry, averaging 7.7 million viewers including DVR playback.

By the way, Ryan Murphy has said that at some point another witch is gonna burn ... I reckon it will be Fiona in the finale.

I think Zoe is the one who calls. Misty probably needs some white witch pure devotion to recovering someone for her to show up. And Zoe is the nice girl who gives her that.

Would LOVE Nan to be the supreme. She's smart, capable, and even Fiona knows it. But would her down syndrome disqualify her from having radiant health?

Ryan Murphy tweets Stevie Nicks to appear on 'American Horror Story: Coven'

It may be stunt casting, but it's certainly been set up from the beginning of "American Horror Story: Coven." Misty Day (Lily Rabe), a Cajun witch with the gift of regeneration, loves Stevie Nicks. She looks like Stevie Nicks, she dances like Stevie Nicks, and she listens obsessively to Stevie Nicks. So, why not get Stevie Nicks on the show?

That's exactly what's going to happen, according to this tweet from show creator Ryan Murphy. Given that he's recruited every legit actress of a certain age to the show already, it makes sense that he might bring in some rock goddesses, too. Now I guess we can start rooting for a "Witches of Eastwick" reunion, but that might be too much... but is too much ever enough on this show?

I'm slightly underwhelmed with the actual witches part of this season.

Like a previous poster says they can't seem to do anything. Even Fiona who we all know is super powerful I feel like she's only displayed about 15% of her actual power. After what happened to Cordelia I was expecting her to go absolutely fucking furious and show us her real power.

I'm obsessed with anything supernatural and they've given us the Supreme and these witches who hardly show us their powers.

I'm in love with Lily Rabe, though. :hearts: oh and can someone tell me what Zoe did to the Necromancer lady whilst she was controlling the zombies?

Witch-Hunter? Makes sense now.
The Axeman flashback was really well-made & entertaining; the actress that played the main witch seems quite decent.
The moment the bug came out of Madison mouth, I though that the whole scene was gonna be way more gruesome; I actually wish they did not limit themselves to only one insect.
Angela Bassett was simply outstanding.
Kyle is a waste of air-time for me; I kinda do not care for him, at all.

Ryan Murphy:
- Kyle will be able to talk at some point
- Stevie Nicks appears in episode 10 & Misty sings alongside her
- a flashback will show how Marie hired Hank
- Madison comes back really dark & deadly; she is out for blood

wYncLg2a4RQ

It’s very much about Madison and Zoe and Kyle. There’s a lot of great stuff about Queenie and Marie Laveaux and the unexpected friendship with LaLaurie. We dwell a lot on charaacters in that episode who are dead and are brought back and what their inner lives are and what their futures are.

I'm obsessed with anything supernatural and they've given us the Supreme and these witches who hardly show us their powers.

There is a sufficient amount of witchcraft shown; more of it will just be overwhelming and take away from the rivalries, relationships, and dynamics between the characters)which essentially is the core of the show).

She did something to the zombie which affected Marie who was warging the zombies' not the other way around.

Fiona is a wretched mess. Does she have cancer?

Did you miss episode 3? Fiona committing two murders in connection to the Supreme's health dynamics; rings a bell, no? She did say to Madison that she has a few months to live.

I'm so happy to have Emma Roberts/Madison back :sobbing: :hearts:

Every single one of these ladies WERKS every week, it's honestly amazing to witness, especially for someone who loves shows/film with strong female leads

Lilly Rabe steals every scene she's in, and Sarah Paulson managed to sound like a snoring elephant while screaming during the Axeman scenes :sobbing:. That woman is gonna unleash some massive fury by the end of the season, I think. Maybe even Carrie-style. All those bitches better look out :sobbing:

And as much as I enjoy seeing Evan Peters' ass on a weekly basis, Zombie Kyle has just been a waste of screentime; hopefully his story progresses, and by the looks of the previews it should be good.

Glad Madison's back. At least we now have two witches who can actually do something. I'm assuming Cordelia will unleash epic fuckery by the end too.

And yes, Kyle has been a waste of screen time, I haven't felt any romance since the first episode, and having him absent for an episode didn't help either. That plot needs to liven itself soon.

No Misty or Myrtle...:\

Too much of dual-personality Zoe who is stupid in episode 6 then bad-ass in episode 7.

Honestly, I love Sarah Paulson but I have no emotional connection with her character (or Zoe, Kyle or Madison) at this point. In season 2 I was hooked after episode 1. Bates and Basset are brilliant.

Yes, I totally agree with this. I also didn't care when Spalding was killed. Yet, as the other poster said, I actually felt bad for Madame when she got turned in. Just finished the second season yesterday and it was amazing :hearts:

The only thing I didn't like in the season was how after Lana escaped from Thetson's house, a seemingly flukish and random occurrence brought her back to the Asylum. It didn't seem likely to happen at all. And the fact that she was back in that place and trapped again, seemed like a never ending struggle to escape.

Also, the first half of the second season was much better than the second half. The last 3 or so episodes lacked drama that the first ones had so much of. But I understand why, the story had to come down eventually.

Overall, great season! Love this show :cheer:
