Yanina revealed why she rested, hoping to play better!
[Osaka, Japan] The Hong Kong player Yanina Wickmayer just said why she left the tour for two weeks after US Open in the press in Osaka here. 'This summer is a slump for me, my singles result get worse and even worse, but the thing I care most, which is the doubles also frustrated me, I have not gone beyond quarter final after winning my first ITF title with Berenika. It's was so disappointed. Then I hope to take a break, get some free time to think about what should I do now, or what should I do to get into more finals just like those in June and July.' Yanina have been in six doubles finals this year including 2 ITFs, Roland Garros, Eastbourne, Bruseels and only winning Birmingham with Emilia Jarocka-Pottinger. After steeping into August, in both Cincinatti, Canada and US Open, Yanina can;t get pass to any other semi finals in doubles at all. 'I love doubles very much, so I care it so much!' Yanina admitted.

'After the short break, I hope I can do better in front of my fans in Beijing, I did something great in singles, beating Siri, but I lost in the second round of doubles!!! So disappointing!! Maybe I am too ambitious but it;s was really a let-down! I also have hopes to enter YEC actually if we won Beijing but I can't so...Yeah' Yanina sighed. 'I actually hope this break can be a refreshment but it;s turned out like that, maybe I am really too ambitious, I am still a new comer here.' Yanina joined the tour two weeks before getting into the grandslam final.

'I and Berenika will try to play hard and work hard here, I love Japan very much and especially in front of the asian fans' Yanina and Berenika is seeded six in doubles, trying to get their first ever doubles title together.

Singles Semifinals

Athea Kane def. Alijah Pemovic 3?/6, 7/6(5), 6/3
Alijah had big hopes after the first set, but the well-supported Athea had enough in the tank to stage a comeback.

[7]Jane Wong def. [2]Ruflina Taliamanosoko 7/6(6), 7/6(5)
This was more of an exhibition match, neither player really worried about the result. Jane reached the final in Asia.

Doubles Semifinals

[1]Casanova/Taliamanosoko def. Cebolla/Sanchez 6/2, 0/6, 7/5
Though there was a plan from the Spaniards, it simply wasn't good enough against the dominant team of the season.

Hykova/Minella def. [3]Kane/Wong 7/6(5), 6/3
The march of the Jessies continue. Excellent all-round tennis to triumph comfortably.
