I'm quite sad.It was great about 2 years ago i don't know what has happened. This week has been so good. But where are all the deaths.I had heard that a number of the cast were being killed off? Also i notice that Jimmy Corkhill is prob off to Newcastle now so hes gone.

You can see already that cast members are desperately trying to find new jobs.

Unbeleivably, Crossroads is coming back... and is going to be all glammed up!

Brookside hasn't been good for 3 or 4 years now so I'm not surprised it's been cancelled.

I'm very surprised Crossroads is coming back, I didn't think anyone watched it??? ;)

It may yet be saved. Phill Redmond, who originally conceived Brookie has threatened to withdraw his other soap, Hollyoaks, if Channel 4 don't change their minds.
Hollyoaks is one of C4's star programs, so this row could get interesting.

I don't think it'd be a good idea to do that.

What will the cast from Hollyoaks do??? Go on to another channel????

I used to love it (then lost interest) then regained interest when the whole lyns, shelly thing began, then lost interest again.
As it stands now I'll be sad to see it go.

Yeah, I'll miss it. I doubt I'll watch it when it gets shunted to Saturday afternoons.

Sheila Grant was my favourite character. I can remember the first episode. (I was very young at the time.....of course)

ClijstersFan, the cast of Hollyoaks will then go to flash in the pan serial dramas yet still maintain their z list "crap pack" celebrity status (see Gary Lucy) by hanging around at "TV Now! Awards" bashes and the like...

So yeah they'll all go to ITV, or go on Mersey Beat on teh beeb like that lass did... whats her name, Joanna Taylor or something.

Presumably Phill Redmond would sell the programe to another channel.
Here's what he said:

"If they've screwed Brookside, is Channel 4 really the best place for Hollyoaks? Are we going to be messed around again in two years time?"

Sorry to drag up a year old thread :o but the last ever Brookside went out last night  Any UK posters watch? I will miss it, I used to watch it regularly when it was really good. I watched it from the beginning when they repeated it on Sky and it was a really groundbreaking show. Someone was on TV saying Brookside paved the way for EastEnders and because of Brookie, EastEnders is as gritty and realistic as it is. I do not think EastEnders is realistic at all and if they think EastEnders is gritty they should have watched some of the stories on Brookie. It got silly towards the end but I will miss it, especially Tim and Steve!

I hadn't watched Brookie in years, but watched the last one out of curiosity.
It was all a bit bonkers was it not? Or maybe I just didn't get it, having not watched it for a while.

Farewell Brookie! :wavey:

farewell brookie! :wavey:

I'll miss it.The last 2 years have been quite bad storylines were getting worse and worse.

But i liked the ending when they killed that man and then Jimmy flooding everywhere and painting game over on the boards.

Good ending i thought.

Once upon a time a really liked the show...but it long since lost its way, and Jimmy Corkhill went from being the best character in it, to the most irritating...

Good to see Barry Grant pop up in the last episode though...

Seeing as I havent' watched it in ages, what happened to Katie Rogers, Jacqui Dixon and Max Farnham?

I'm not sad. It used to be great....then it got weird. Jimmy Corkhill (drug-dealer) became a teacher. :haha: I heard it might be continued on DVD though. Phil redmond who created it doesn't care about it anymore because he has Hollyoaks.

Jacqui and Max got married and were not seen very much, no big exit. Katie's exit was even worse, she and Nick were talking about buying a flat, but were never seen or heard of again.

:wavey: Jon - In typical Brookie style several neighbours killed a man who had moved into the Close and was dealing drugs. Sort of sums up how crazy the whole thing got towards the end, but I liked watching it for Tim, Nikki and Jimmy. They were good characters and some good acting.

:wavey: martinailuv - Tim! I love him, he is very sexy! They should have a Tim and Steve spin-off show, they are a good double act. They are releasing a DVD with those two being the main characters in it.

:wavey: *sniiiiiiiff*

"Brookside" was my favourite TV show for a few years then I sort of fell out of love with it (I think just after that plague storyline?) and then I started watching it again and then I stopped watching it again... And I've been watching it again recently!! I didn't like the fact that Channel 4/S4C put the show on at such a late time - I think this showed a little bit of a lack of respect for the show... (And they have done this to "The Secret Life Of Us" as well!! :fiery: *kick* ) I've been enjoying the last few episodes (except I didn't really watch the one in which Jimmy thought he had lung cancer and finished his relationship with Margi... ) although I DIDN'T like that character Michaelson!! Grrrr!! :fiery: He was simply HORRID!! I noticed how the swearing and violence picked up in the show towards the end...

I will miss watching it yes - I think that some of the acting and writing was really great and I have memories of it being my favourite show in the 90s... I wish all the cast and crew luck with the future...

(And Barry Grant was GOOD in the last episode!! He is a very good looking man and a good actor, such charisma!! The actor Paul Usher is in "The Bill"? Right, "The Bill" here I coooome... ;) )
