Doubles Results, Finals

[1]Masterton/Taliamanosoko def. [3]Graf/Huubere 6/1, 1/6, 7/6(4)
A fitting way for Paula and Ruflina to end their long and lustrous career against two vetereans, Sabine and Marteena. It was a tight third set tiebreaker, but you could almost sense it in this event that it was destiny for Paula and Ruflina to win this event. Oh, and in doing so, they create another FWTT Record - the first player and/or team to win the same title 4 years in a row.

Press Release from Ruflina Taliamanosoko:

What an honor it has been to have been playing with my friend and doubles partner over the past six years.

We've had such an amazing run, including the moment we won Wimbledon together in 2009.

After a record-setting 54 doubles titles together over the past six years, I will deeply miss her friendship and incredible sportsmanship.

She has always been such a bright spot on the tour and her light will forever be missed.

So, in honor of Paula, this fourth title of Seoul is for you babe.

Here, I have good remember because I can take the first FWTT title from here and now I did it again. I feel this is my home. I love Seoul. I promise I will back again. "

Benedetti Falls Short on 10th Title Bid
In her bid to become the 20th FWTT player to reach the double digit number in singles titles, Italian Giuseppina Benedetti ran out of gas in an anticlimatic final against newly crowned superstar Pamela Bowden.

On the Final:

"She was just too good today. She played terrible in the first set, I didn't have to do anything. In the second set, I was so caught off guard by the pick up of her game level, that I was caught sleeping and I lost my aggressiveness. I wanted to make her work and tried to make her wear out in the final set, but she was just on fire. She's good. Very Good."

On her week in Seoul:

"I think overall it was a good week for me. It has been a long while since I have played that well. I was way more aggressive this week than usual...I actually came to the net and almost fell over from shock when I hit some decent volleys. I started staying back too much in the final and it cost me."

On her health:

"I was very disappointed to have gotten injured right before the Open. I tried to play through it, but it wasn't happening. It was so sad not to get to play doubles with Lindsay, either. I know a lot of people were saying that it wasn't a physical injury or something, but I promise you it was. You can see the MRI."

On the tour and her future:

"The depth of the tour picked up this season, but it has seemed to hit a lull as of late. I think that is to be expected with so many new girls, often they play so much early on and then get tired out a bit. I am sure everyone will be ready to go at the Australian. I'm still bound and determined to get my first singles slam title. I think my obsession has become a bit of a joke in the locker room...the other girls all hope to draw me at the slams now [laughs], but I promise you I will get my first slam before the Hippos, Fleri, Nthama and Luna....Oops, did I say hippos? I meant hippies. They're so into world peace. Just kidding, girls, you know I love you. [laughs]"
