BTW - Monica looks like she's down about fifteen pounds from the US Open. And this is the first time in years I've seen her sharp angle game against a top power player. She's hitting angles only MUCH faster players can hit, because they can get outside those shots. Monica's doing it without running as far.

I hate it when my favs play against each other but at least it's not a GS. Sounds like Monica's foot is doing ok, just get fitter during the offseason and be ready for the AUSOPEN.

Lets hope that the foot injury heals and that we hear no more of it in 2003.

Lets just be happy that Monica has dedicated herself to fitness and determination. So what, she lost, yes she had oppurtunities but venus hit a lot of winners when down break points. Monica doesn't have that much more time on the tour so each match she plays is just another memory lasting time she fought. Lets enjoy every match whether win or lose because she is a true champion who has cemented herself into the top 10 and still can beat the best.

Monica did some things right tonight. She won just about every point where she approached the net, as she has tended to lately. But double faulting nearly every 4th second serve is not a good thing. Obviously, she would like to have converted more break points, but who know how many of those went to Aces/Unreturnables.
