I am watching their match right now. And you can hear a pin drop. The cheers and applause are soo low. There is no common Kim or common Justine. It is pretty bad. But the match is kind of interesting.

treufreund
Nov 8th, 2002, 08:00 PM
Justine holds for 2-3. JUSTINE is being more aggressive than Kim who is counterpunching very very well.

Kim is playing like LLEYTON. She is mostly counterpunching with high percentage shots and attacking when appropriate. EXCELLENT play. Justine too aggressive cuz she feels the pressure of KIM'S GAME.

too many unforced errors from both players, kim is playing better in the more important points that is why she is leading 5-2 now!

Justine is playing terribly, is the problem.

Kim is about ten times mentally stronger and is handling the pressure of the situation. That's that.

wow Kim
that's not match, it's mismatch ;)

treufreund
Nov 8th, 2002, 08:32 PM
Yes, she feels that she needs to hit a winner off of so many shots. It's like she is afraid that if she just rallies with Kim that Kim will eventually overpower her so she goes for very LOW PERCENTAGE SHOTS.

2284
Nov 8th, 2002, 08:33 PM
This is why Kim is winning:
Kim doing better in all areas:
Winners (Including Service) 13 5
Unforced Errors 21 29

treufreund
Nov 8th, 2002, 08:42 PM
Well Kim's errors did not look as crazy as Justine's.

Both Justine and Chanda are SHORT too and KIM'S BALLS are BOUNCING SO HIGH!! She puts a lot of loop in them and has added much more TOPSPIN.

Kim and Amelie's rise in the rankings are due to adding variety and playing higher percentage, more consistent tennis.

Nov 8th, 2002, 08:47 PM
Well Kim was not going for winner so much so there will be more UE's when you prolong the rallies. Plus both of them do defend well. I think Kim is playing well. Beating both Chanda and Justine so easily is not just do to them playing poorly. It's because Kim is prolonging the rallies and getting more shots back that she would have missed before. This added pressure to Juju and Chanda and it's like what Pam said "Is it just that Chanda and Juju did not play well or is it something that Kim is doing?" I think it's the new kim just like when Amelie became much more consistent it hurt Jenn and made her nervous and made her game go downhill. Same with Serena. When Serena became more consistent and actually somewhat more conservative it put much more pressure on Venus who has now shown that in her matches against Serena.

Idd, never saw Kim using so much topspin in her balls  And all the balls landed just before or even on the baseline...she was really dictating the points...Justine was way too aggressive and made a lot of "badtimed" forehands   The first couple of games Justine's backhand was really good, she made some great angels. The angles disappeared later on, but her backhand was not that bad today I think...her forehand and volley were nowhere :o

Anyway, Congrtas Kim!!!! Smart play!!!

I do think that Justine is often going for very aggressive topspin backhands when she should slice or loop it up more. Kim hits very good angles and Justine does not really have the time to run out wide, take her racquet and brush up on the OUTSIDE of the ball and hit so aggressively. Sure sometime she will succeed but she missed so many of them and also doesn't buy herself any time to get back in the point.

Elke
Nov 8th, 2002, 09:26 PM
It was a bad match, maybe the baddest between Kim and Justine. But it takes two to tango...and also to play some good tennis and Justine had a REAL offday.

Congrats Kim!!!!

Kim played VERY deep today, a lot of top-spin and not using all her strenght to hit it hard.

Justine played far below her usual game. Some of her strokes were just terrible! And also a lot of mishits. The aggression is not a problem, she has to be this aggressive, and normally it works

I felt so sorry for Justine! The first points she really tried to play really aggressive, but then she made some easy mistakes and they didn't stop coming from then on. She deserved better than this. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact she was playing Kim, she already improved on her mental problems but yesterday it was obvious she couldn't control her nerves against Kim. She wanted to win too bad I think. But still, congrats on a great season, Justine!! We'll see you next year! :bounce:
