As big shot [6]Li Na has a very friendly US-Open draw, she should be a shoo-in at least in first three rounds for sure. She might even be able to confirm her seeding spot and will advance into QF.

But after keeping a close eye on her game during some of her recent matches (eg struggling with her service, her FH, her timing & her footwork) it comes in my mind that Li - who is one of the top players in this season - will drop out very early at the Open. What is your opinion?

Mmmhh. Let's see?

You can't give up on Na that easily, before the Open starts. Lol

I know she played like shit in this match, but I hope she does well in the Open.

Either 3rd against a qualifier or 4th against Petkovic. She REALLY needs to get her shit together. The courts at Flushing Meadows are even faster than this. If she flames out to Halep... :help:

It's really possible that she'll lose to Halep :help: Then again she only has 5 points to defend...

Those quick hardcourts at the Open really do NOT suit her. Her QF and 4th round showings are flukes if I ever saw one. She struggled against Errani and Makarova in 2008 and had Olaru, Larcher de Brito and Kirilenko in 2009 :help:

Halep would be beyond embarrassing but watch her being humiliated by the qualifier in her section.

Halep played well and smart against Kuznetsova.
Cetkovska also played smartly to beat Na today.

I say Na goes out in the first round

If I sum up all the gifts she recieved from Na this toasty afternoon, that might be more than all her previous birthday & christmas presents together. Nevertheless Petra is called the winner - and she deserved it - but IMO Na lost this match.

at this point she can only surprise me. That being said, it is a slam, and i can see her picking up the form. They have a few days left to tweek her game, work on the forehand especially. Then hopefully she has a few matches to build mentally. She is a big match player, if she gets to the latter rounds she can definetly do damage.

First round, if she can win the two rounds easily, then she has the chance to go far.

Possibly against Petkovic, at which point TF will declare that Na Li just like Kvitova canīt really play tennis and that Petkovic has the luckiest draws ever.

This is crap.
Is it not obvious that Na is just saving herself for the slam?
I think its so crazy that lots of posters think she sucks now for losing all these matches, but in reality, she probably could care less and its better that she is rested. All of the people who say this bs about Na are going to look ridiculous when she wins the US Open next week.

Well in that case she should learn how to properly tank a match. She sure seemed interested in stretching/choking that match for as long as her and Cetkovska's crappy tennis allowed them to. If Li was really saving herself for the slams she wouldn't have bombed out in Wimbledon.

:haha::haha::haha:
She's been saving herself from Wimbledon then  Actually since she didn't do much there then I guess she's been saving herself from RG

She had match points and there was nothing she could do. Sabine would have beaten Petra and Maria that day with the way she played.

As I watched the epic on ESPN2 yesterday, I wounder that you think that she tanked. Na, who asked for a [WC] at New Haven, took any efforts to stay in the match (eg. she challenged jugement calls, called her coach out several times & seems not very happy as she shaked hands with her opponent). On the other hand Fran seems much more relaxed.
