shot selection, anticipation, skills, court coverage, variety.

It seems the girl ALWAYS hits the right shot at the right time. Such a cool and clever player.

She can hit every shot I can think of in tennis (except the hot dog one which is overrated and not useful anyway) and hit in such an efficient way.

She plays like a much better/improved version of Radwanska.

Your thought?

She's weak. She should have closed it out by now. Not expecting much from her.

If you happen to be tired of brainless players who have an open court and a last shot to make it a winner and they always hit it straight to the opponent, you should start watching Petra C.

Finally a player I feel like I could be watching for hours. The final should be really good.

I see some Mandula, Testud and Maleeva in her. I like her tennis, too. However, she IS a mental headcase and her results depend on confidence a lot.

I don't want to rain on this parade.

But she 25 now, where has this been over the years.
This is only her first WTA final.

This kind of thread was created after Jie remarkable performance against Serena just few ago.

The thread, with in the title in upper case the acronym ROS (Return Of Serve) made her out to be one of the best returner in the game.
All the while forgetting she has been on WTA the tour for awhile, we have very rarely seen that kind of performance from her.

Yes, Petra played very and previous round well today, but there are reasons why at 25, this is the first time she has been noticed and reached a final.

BTW, since Jie performance against Serena, how well has she done in the tournaments she entered? Just a cautionary note.

LOL. To me she screamed journey-woman. Good mover who can hit a good FH now and again, but had next to no BH, a serve which can go off with alarming regularity and utterly unable to finish off a match against a player who was hopeless for the entire match.

First, she's 26. Second, she's been injured. Third, Schiavone and Li have shown that you can achieve great thing in your late 20s, early 30s

:weirdo: Erm......

I hate to break it to you, but Zheng has already been to two slam semifinals. Pushing Serena to 3 sets in a WTA event is hardly the highlight of her career. Hell, she's had closer matches with Serena than that one. She proved herself and her return of serve a long time ago.

A lot can change in 3 years and everyone can have bad days. I am not saying she is a future slam contender, but her game is easy to the eyes, pleasant, and people can make thread about this :). Plus, Ana was playing very well during RG 2008. So let's wait ans see how she will perform but it's true her game is nice.

Definitely a late bloomer. Like others have said, where the hell has she been all these years? She's been pro since 2000, has 20 ITF titles but only managed to qualify into a slam in 2007.

Kind of strange how it took her so long to get to where she is now.

Quite impressed with her seed slashing streak, Radwanska, Bartoli and Na. Has played 7 matches to get to the final and is probably exhausted. If she wins, it will be all the more impressive but she will burn out at the Open.

 What ever happened to Gagliardi?

Good for Petra to make a final, and beating 3 quality players on the way, but something about the way she plays doesn't impress me. I'll be rooting for her against the Woz but am expecting her to get demolished. She's had a good week but with her style of play I don't expect much in the future.

Knowing my luck I'll be eating my words when she wins the US Open in a fortnight.
