OK he may be right about Serena but Petko dancing in the SF? I don't think so ... not healthy and certainly not w/ her knee injury :o

putting Cibulkova, Zvonareva and Radwanska in the same group

Pironkova a dark horse? this ain't Wimbledon

Lucic v Q a 1R to watch :haha:

where is Sam Smith's predictions? she was GOAT @ Wimbledon so we need to know her USO prediction

Actually it was 2005, 2006, and I am not sure about 2007. The 2005 pick is hard to believe I know since she wasnt even playing that well (for her) on clay that year despite that she won the French thanks to Kuznetsova's choke and her cakewalk draw, and she had struggled on hard courts in her comeback. That is Worthless for you though.

justineheninfan
Aug 26th, 2011, 07:33 AM
yeah but his SF predictions of Henin, Azarenka and Safarova

2 of those 3 picks were reasonable at the time. Who would have figured even a questionable Henin to go out to Kuznetsova who she was 17-2 against at the time. Most would also favor Henin over Schiavone or Wozniacki. It wasnt clear yet Azarenka was owned by Na, and Na is too erratic to place much confidence in. Most people would have picked Henin and Azarenka for the semis. Safarova was the only odd one.

How can Sports Illustrated pay him for his predictions, he SUCKS!:sobbing:
Jill Craybas v. Madison Keys: A winnable match for Keys, a well-regarded American prospect.
Actually, I think Jill is going to win it 61 62.
16. Ana Ivanovic: At what point does a slump cease becoming a slump and is simply the new normal? Come to think of it...starting with her collapse in the fall of 2008 (after hitting a record high) Ivanovic and the world financial markets track each other with eerie similarity.
Just speechless to this statement.
5. Petra Kvitova: Looked like a world-beater at Wimbledon. Finally, a champion who would fill the ....oh, what's that? She's crashed out of two events since?
Oh,John, you just don't know where to shut up, do you?:tape:
Mirjana Lucic v. qualifier: Lucic is a great story; and her winning her first match presents an opportunity to tell it.

My pairings for the last 16:

Wozniacki-Hantuchova
Petkovic-Li
Azarenka-Stephens
Riske-Schiavone

Safarova-Cirstea
Peng-Sharapova
Bartoli-Stosur
Lisicki-Robson

Semis: Petkovic-Azarenka
Sharapova-Robson
Winner: Azarenka

I think it's high time for Azarenka to win her first Slam. Her draw is not too difficult apart from Serena in the third round but Serena won't be able to reproduce her best form against an Azarenka in best form. I expect Serena's game to fall apart under the relentness power of the Belorussian.
Sharapova should be able to reach the final with a victory over Lisicki because she has a psychological advantage over her from their Wimbledon meeting.
I don't expect any of the Williams sisters to survive the third round.
I expect a strong showing here for Hantuchova, Cirstea and Schiavone. Hantuchova and Cirstea are immensely talented, they can easily get into the last 16 as long as they can keep the unforced error count down.
Amongst the youngsters Riske, Stephens and Robson could go furthest. They all have a cakewalk draw. Ivanovic should pose no threat to the up-and-coming Stephens and Znonareva is not the force she used to be a year ago so Robson should comfortably beat her if she is close to her best. And Riske should wipe the floor with out-of-form Pavlyuchenkova.
I expect disappointment and an early exit for Jankovic, Kanepi and Kvitova.

I don't see Petkovic reaching the semifinals she's too emotional and unbalanced in her game. I also think Azarenka can take Serena right out in the third round. I think people need to realize if Azarenka finally lives up to her potential she could win the US OPEN. Azarenka has got the game to push Serena.
