Oct 11th, 2001, 04:33 AM
Last week 14 yr old Katia Afinogenova qualifeid and reached SF.

this week another 14 yr old has qualified

Maria Kirilenko has arrived on the tour, she plays another qualifier Nina Zlender of CRO in Makarska

Galina Voskoboeva (WC) is also there.

Heard some pretty bad news coming from Belgium from Sofie (Justinator) she tells me that Evgenia Linetskaya has applied for Belgian Nationality

Evgenia is 14 and very good , qualified for 3 ITF $10K events in Belgium (AUG 01) and reached final in 1st one.

I knew she was living there but no idea about this.... hope its not true.

Do you know anything about Olga Koliuzhnaya(sp?)? She's ranked about 450 and playing challengers.

Oct 17th, 2001, 09:10 PM
Olga is 18 , will be 19 on Dec 19th

I know Olga got to the $25K New Delhi final at end of 2000 , thats where most of her pts are from
but she has really struggled this yr and only has 5.25 so far

Maria Kirilenko and Galina Voskoboeva are in Makarska 2 , good luck to both

I'm just asking 'cos a month ago she started playing in our club. She used to train in Belgium or in Holland and she didn't really have a proper coach. A nice girl by the way

a bit of good news

Evgenia Koulikovskaya is into SF of $50K Southampton UK , she plays Irina Selyutina tomorrow

I think Olga actually lost to Goulnara. the club I train in is called Bellokamennaya. its small so its not famous. My coach is quite well known though. He was the captain of the boys Under 16 team last year.

Julia Parasyuk and Eugenia Rodina are the future of russian tennis :bounce:

Ksenia Lykina. I don;t know whether she plays on ITF yet, but she sure did impress me at the Orange Bowl. She did lost to Alexandra Panova, but showed a lot of promise. She hits really hard, really flat, possesses a good serve. I'm sure we will hear more of her in a little while. (especially when she takes care of her ue - i.e. becomes a bit more patient)

Last week 14 yr old Katia Afinogenova qualifeid and reached SF.

Yes, that was in 2001 -- and what has she done since then? Still ranked below 500, I believe ... time to look for a new career, kid. Not every Florida-trained Russian girl is destined for big things on the tennis court. Cut yer losses & move on, Katya!
