Did they say what they are basing this on?

Did they say what they are basing this on?

(1) Players people have heard of who aren't retired or dead;
(2) Names of people who played last week and are possibly Eastern European;
(3) Magic.

I think that guy Ravi Ubha put this list together. I only see his name in the article. It has the men too and I'm assuming it's based on hard court play leading up to the Open given that Mardy Fish is the 2nd rated man. But we all know Mardy AINT beating Nadal or Murray at the US Open. COME ON SON!!!

Petko, Aza injured. Kvitova, Stosur, Na, Radwan slumping.
i'd say the top 2 are right, but put Vera at 3.

ESPN power rankings are [usually] based on the entire year with added emphasis on recent play.

I think this is why Petkovic is so high because she has done so well all year while ahead of Kvitova since she has beaten her twice in the past month.

Why Aga is #7 behind Li Na who has been completely irrelevant since RG? Same with Kvoitova and Wimbledon...retarded :rolleyes:

Totally stupid.

Because you don't agree with it? :rolleyes:

It's a good list. Petko is an odd choice but the rest are pretty accurate reflecting their form on hard courts.

Serena and Maria deserve top 2 mentions and we all know why Caro is at the bottom. Na, Sam and Aga all had pretty good lead-up tournaments. Just because they didn't win titles doesn't mean they are "slumping". All they need are a couple of solid performances and wins.

Because it's not based on objective criteria.

You have really always been a terribly annoying and immature poster, particularly given your handle.

ETA: Apologies to everyone else; I've been meaning to put this sour poster on ignore for a while. I shouldn't have let it get personal, which is why I have half the board on ignore. Let's get back on topic.

This list is dumb.

3. ANDREA PETKOVIC:scratch:

she's been pretty consistent all year round. But I don't really appreciate her game.

Fuck ESPN.

Just yesterday, I was wondering, "Which German player is CBS/ESPN going to spotlight this year? They're all very attractive to the media -- but I can't see them not taking Sabine."

I understand the Petkovic hype from a media/marketing standpoint. But to put her above Lisicki? There's not a more marketable girl on tour! ESPN obviously placed Petkovic at #3 because they're trying to hype up her personality, the Petkodance, etc.... But why not Sabine? Why?

My list:

1. Serena
2. Masha
3. Kvitty
4. Bepa
5. Vika
6. Li
7. Sabine
8. Caro
9. Aga
10. Venus

EDIT: How did I put Aga twice? Deleted her at #7 and moved Sabine and Caro, and Aga II up, and then added Venus as #10.

Poor Caro never gets any respect :lol: And yeah, Petkovic at #3 is pretty silly.
