Tara  Huge stuff, even considering Parra's dubious form.
Townsend made it into the SF of 50k recently as a QWC, that's probably why she is even playing USO. Biggest surprise so far (or tied with Sacha Jones' win)

After an abysmal showing by the Americans yesterday, it is looking a bit better today.

Taylor :yeah:
Managed to close it out in the end. Very impressive win, but she's been having pretty great result these past few months (SF at 50K, SF at U18s Nat Champ beating Keys before losing to eventual winner, Davis).

Just finished watching this match in person and Townsend is the real deal. No injuries or poor form from Parra, she was just beaten fair and square.

Townsend is a black girl, lefty, and hits the absolute crap out of her groundstrokes. We're talking Lucic/Rezai level ball bashing, and she hit some very nice volleys as well. She needs to try and maintain a better level of consistency because she lost most of the rallies that went more than a few shots due to errors, but I think she's the best shot at being the American hope that US tennis is looking for.

Either El Tabakh or Robson in the next round as well, so she has a good shot at going even farther if she plays like that.

Sounds promising :hearts: How fast is she? How well does she return? USA already has some powerful, wooden, brainless players (Coco ie.), I hope she won't join them.

But a 15 yo. with a Lucic-like groundies sound so 90s :hearts:

Edit: And don't move! I want some info on Robin too ;)

Tough to say because she was on the offensive most of the time and not doing very much running. She certainly isn't slow, but I'm not sure if speed is her best attribute either.

Taylor :woohoo: Seems to be the real deal! Thanks for the report CoryAnnAvants#1!!! :)

Can imagine that Taylor has a pretty complete game, since she is an accomplished junior doubles player already with fellow '96 phenom Gabbie Andrews :bounce:

when i saw this i thought fuck yeah, Robson's draw gets better but after what you've all been saying about Taylor, her game sounds really promising and her recent results look to be solid, congrats on the win Taylor, will be interesting to see what she does from here :yeah:

I was also there today and saw the whole match. Excellent play from Taylor, she's such a hard hitter, really didn't give APS a chance to get into the rallies, taking away the time she needs for her double-fisted style. She has a pretty good first serve, but her weaknesses seem to be her second serve and her consistency. It was a well-played match other than the hiccup at 5-4 in the first and 5-2 in the second, but her ROS was excellent, really handcuffing APS.

Definitely a prospect, but her fitness might be a little suspect, she was definitely a big girl. Also she seemed kind of short, might get taller since she is so young, but overall an excellent player.

Yeah, two up-and-comers in their respective age ranges. USA vs. GB

We'll see, obviously Laura is the favorite, but hopefully, Townsend will make it match playing at home

That could stick if she makes it to the WTA.

Maybe you can trade mark it now
T&T is also an alternative:)
