Don't want to jinx her, I'm just asking about some background, what's her playing style, is she a prospect?

It's Taylor Townsend. She's a lefty, aggressive game. Promising for US tennis..

I never liked Taylor, plus the fourth season was the worst because she was always on. I still can't believe Marissa died :hysteric:

Doesn't look very lean in those, though it may also be in part her clothing and/or camera angle.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet that she is being coached by Donald Young Sr (at least according to her ITF profile).

Marissa was an annoying bitch and I was so happy she died. Season four with Taylor is so underrated.

Well, I have one question. Is she fast? I've realized one thing about players I like, and its that they're speedy. Hantuchova is the only exception (but my reasons for liking her has got absolutely nothing to do with her game. She's a nice person).

I agree. I mean Marissa had her moments, and she was totally Ryan's soulmate, but jeeeeeez she was annoying! Haters gonna hate, but Taylor was awesome (except for in S3 when she was trying to get with Seth... that's a NO NO you don't mess with Seth and Summer!)

Start like her now, then she'll pick up speed.

Maybe you bring that speed factor to players (once you start liking them), but you have not realized it.

Some info on her http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/27/sports/tennis/with-williams-sisters-as-model-taylor-townsend-tries-to-find-her-way.html

“She’s one of the best 15-year-olds you can see today in America or I think in the world,” Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena, said during Townsend’s match. “If you just give her a few years, I think she’ll be beating a hell of a lot of people.”

Williams added: “I think she’s better than my daughters at that time. She has more variety.”

I had never heard of her before this week, but I think she made an impressive little mini-run in the qualies---winning her first round fairly easily and almost beating Robson in the 2nd round. She's a little overweight right now, but that's fixable. She's only 15 so I think she has a lot of promise.

She was very upset when she lost the match the wise one Richard Williams reminded her that it's just a match not the end of the world to put things in perspective.

Even though she was still upset she'll remember Richard's words in the future.

I was at the Townsend-Robson match, as well as covering qualifying the last three days, as let me tell you this:

Both of these girls will win Grand Slams, no question in my mind, especially Townsend.

This was BY FAR the best match in women's qualifying in terms of all the elements, points, drama, quality of play, sportsmanship, and even star power, as both Richard Williams and Lakeisha were there to watch Townsend play. And it was one of the best matches of the year folks, overall.

Townsend, despite appearing to be chubby, as Simon Briggs called her on Twitter (https://twitter.com/#!/simonrbriggs/status/107119820939591681) , has all the shots to go along with movement. She already has a big lefty slice serve that tops out at 114 MPHS, she has a great forehand and backhand with power to both sides, but was really the most impressive about her was how stable she was at 15. She barely made any errors, and it was Laura, the "veteran at 17", who was double faulting in the match and making some loose errors.

The first set was great, were I thought Townsend was going to be competitive but lose easily to Laura since I didn't see her beat Parra Santonja in the first round. But the Spaniard did not pay bad at all, rather Townsend showed tremendous variety in that match and against Robson.

Townsend's favorite player is Navratilova, and this 15 year old from Georgia was CHIPPING AND CHANGING at times, and throwing Robson further off by even SERVING AND VOLLEYING on decent bit of occasions to mix it up. She played so intelligent and showed so much variety at 15 that she already has more variety than any player on tour now. Even Martinez Sanchez doesn't chip as much as this girl did, and it was quite incredible to see, where Laura and everyone else was wondering, "Who the hell is this girl and where did she come from?"

The stands on Court 11 where packed, and it was the biggest crowd at a qualifying match that a lot of people said they had ever seen (You can see on my Twitter page since I was giving updates on there), and there were just winners hit all over the court.

Taylor was up 5-2 in the final set, and Laura looked to be a gooner because this Townsend was just so steady yet aggressive and smooth on all sides everywhere on the court, playing great defense to offense. Suddenly, Robson started stepping in even more on Taylor's 2nd serve, which though she didn't double fault at all in the match (or rarely did), came in at 68-75 MPH's a lot of times (in comparison to an already terrific first serve), and Laura became even more fearless with her back against the wall.

That was a great win in a 2 hr, 24 minute classic, where Robson played unbelievable from 5-2, hitting winners in offensive and defensive positions. And when it came to tiebreak time, that's when finally the 15 year old made 2 loose errors for the first time in the match to start the tiebreak and give the Brit the first 3 key points. That led to Laura being more clinical with winners on both sides everywhere on the court to take the final set tiebreak 7-0.

Both players showed great variety in this match, but this Townsend girl came out of nowhere to really be a major force in the game I think in 3 years time. She again has already more variety than any player on tour now, and she does take after her idol Martina by mixing it up and having all the shots and athleticism. Richard Williams consoled her after the match because she was crying (but way less than de Brito, who stayed on the court 10 minutes after losing to Knapp in her 3rd set tiebreak and was crying all the way into the locker room).

Only injuries and a lack of dedication to fitness (although she moved quiet well and last terrifically in long rallies with Laura playing aggressive) can stop her from being a major player in the game, and Laura was quite relieved when I talked to her after being Zhang to get through that Townsend match.

Both of those girls deserved to be in the main draw, because that was one of the best matches of the year.

Just wanted to share that so people can get the right picture on this girl before someone tries to kick me off again for no reason at all (except being a secret fan of you know who and hate that I just say the truth with a smile and laugh) despite me being civil as always.

And again, because it makes me laugh, I am NOT ANYONE else here and haven't been back here since Stanford. Especially, I am not Excleistor, LOL.

Thanks for the info on the match - I was really wondering how it was.
One question, how tall is she? I see she's a bit heavy but is tall as well?
Thanks

She is obese, for god's sake. That should be banned from Tennis.
